*cough* David Luiz *cough*

For every David Luiz there are 5 Cavanis, and 5 Bales... your point? Even more obvious if you go by wages.

Please compare apples to apples: take best (or more expensive) defender vs best attacker. End of contract situations will skew this obviously (e.g. Costa, Lewa).

---

Speaking of the devil... funny (at least to me) thing that occurred to me last weekend: the Premiere can be a very peculiar league at times where David Luiz is not considered a defender while Richard Dunne is. :)

Very recently i found out in an article someone posted that clubs already are spending more % of money at defence. Unfortunately i can't remember where i saw it to repost it. My point is that defence is definitely not easier than attack. It's apples vs oranges as you say. Strikers are usually the stars and that's why they get paid more wages. It's not about who does the hardest job.

I was the one who posted it.

Spending more on defenders != spending more on defenders than attackers.

And your causality is not right IMO: it's not that the stars happen to be the attackers; the stars are usually the attackers because they are attackers.

I completely disagree with your point that defense is not easier: it's always much easier to destroy than to create. That was very deep :) and applies to the universe - entropy... anyways, more teams are realizing that defenders can ALSO create if they have quality to do so, especially for the teams who keep possession. That does not change the fact players like Gary Cahill, defensive especialists offer very little to a side other than blocking, intercepting, stopping others from playing. That's why they are cheaper. Same with holding mids who are the cheapest of the midfielders.

So, if you pick David Luiz, it's fair to pick Bale (most expensive defender vs most expensive attacker): 50M vs 100M

* and we know PSG overpaid for Luiz by a wide margin (prob around 50%) because of the new rich tag. One could argue Rm overpaid for Bale as well, but reckon not by the same margin.

I don't know who you are or what your football knowledge is, but if you don't know the facts, KEEP QUIET!

I know you sign on because of Salah and only salah.

When salah leaves, so will you.

No one cares if salah doesnt play for chelsea, when chelsea have 4 guys on the senior team already better than him and remy/rambo as options.

So? How do you know? What's it matter? Get off your high horse, your spelling hurts my head, at least the guy from Egypt knows how speak English.

Nope. Talking out your ass once again.

I have been a Chelsea fan for many years, and regardless of who comes or goes, that won't change. ;)

thats why you signed on the day of salah's signing...

And make a million posts on how salah doesnt get game time, opportunities, etc....

YEA RIGHT.

Hey mexican, go pay some taxes for once...

Lol. You make so many assumptions, it doesn't matter if he was on here before or after Salah signed, he's here now and he's a Chelsea fan. Who are you to dictate who is or isn't a Chelsea fan?

Anyways.. back to Salah, he'll play vs Shrewsburry, but it'll be hard for he and Schurrle to get game time with the way Willian, Hazard and Oscar are playing.

When you have something to say worth listening to, let me know. :D

Salah will never start on Chelsea and will continue being a sub after 86 mins....

And when everyone is fully fit, salah will not even be on the team sheet on match day... that is the reality.

Strikers are the stars simply because the spectacle is on striking rather than making a tackle inside the box. Noone gives a golden boot for most tackles. It's that casual imo.

Big teams like Madrid like to overpay for big names just to pose their power. It's kind of crazy the prices these days.

Next time you go to a soccer field try an elastico dribble or say go in a full sprint in full control of the football always changing directions... :) If you can do them consistently enough, please present yourself at the bridge for evaluation...

Sorry, this is not really debatable. Not only the market proves it, but it's common knowledge by anyone who plays the game. Defenders who can throw tackles and play with determination are a dime a dozen in the lower leagues. Technique however is hard to come by in the lower leagues.
