Imo, it has to go back to the gun laws. You should have the right to defend yourself if you think you are in danger, but shooting people is not the only way to defend yourself. Whatever is wrong with pepper-spays or even tasers?

I agree that we need to get rid of the guns. I am just not sure it can/will happen.

And this is the mentality that makes changing the gun laws so difficult! This is NOT the opinion of every American nor do I believe is it the opinion of the majority.

The other problem is the "stand your ground laws" which lead to more deaths! The laws were designed to protect individuals but instead are being abused.

That's what the founders of this country thought as well. Now, because of some few incident, you expect the American people to become submissive to the government? Let's recall: "Rule by the people." The people want to have their guns. Granted, it can't be an AK-47 or an AUG, but there is nothing wrong, shouldn't be anything wrong, with a pistol.

You might as well take a shit on the US Constitution and call it a day.

I am not even going to attempt to carry on a rational discussion about this. I know from experience with others who share your opinions that you and I are not going to agree. I am beyond tired of trying to get people to listen to reason and understand my point of view and that it has nothing to do with being "submissive" but with common sense and rational thought.

BTW many other countries limit gun ownership (UK, Australia, etc) and they are not communist, so your argument to Chuolo doesn't hold water.

Now, I will go back to my nice blissfully un-political summer vacation!

Having the right to rape is implausible but having the right to kill is?

What's hard to understand about having the right to own guns is that guns are used to kill and commit crimes. Having guns makes robberies much easier; it makes murder easy and accessible to everyone. What's very hard for me to understand is that having the right to own guns makes it possible for a psychopath to walk into a school and shoot 50+ kids. And you, your son, your niece, your sister, your mother; anyone could be one of those victims. I can never understand how you can be okay with that.

So basically, guns harm other people, which breaks the definition of a personal right because your rights and freedom stop at the rights and freedom and others (eg. you have the freedom and right to listen to music, but that right ends when the music gets loud enough to upset your neighbor who has the right for peace and quite).

Oh, and there is absolutely no logical connection what so ever between making guns illegal and "the government owning everything and everyone".

On any account, I am not an American citizen and I am likely to never set foot in the US, so there really isn't any reason for us to continue this discussion.

(Sorry if this isn't allowed to be discussed. If so just throw a potato at me or something.)

Warrington council have released their "it's not just a joint" campaign. It contains a lot of misinformation, including "Cannabis is now stronger than heroin". I can't believe they actually went and said something so dangerous. What if kids see that and start to think heroin is safer than cannabis? What if someone comes up to some 16 year old guy and says "I've got cannabis and I've got heroin, which one you want?" and he chooses heroin because this told him cannabis is more dangerous?

As soon as this got out there was a HUGE backlash on Facebook with hundreds of cannabis users going onto their page requesting proof and studies to back up their claims. Needless to say they couldn't provide any and they actually shut down their Facebook page temporarily.

They said they're going to "review" the campaign.
