I saw Torres play live and most if the time he was walking around shrugging his shoulders, how he has a reputation as a sweet innocent hard worker is baffling.

It says it all when a 33 year old Eto'o who was a shadow of his prime himself comprehensively outplayed him and the player he was suppose to replace long term came back at 36 to replace him.

In the all the interviews given since leaving Chelsea, he has been very grateful for the time he spent here...And also despite scoring more at Liverpool he never once said he valued his time over there more than at Chelsea

Carlo is the coolest manager alive. Love the guy, but I think he is a Yes-Men that works great with egos. No man is better at dealing with elephant-sized egos. Look at what he did in 2009/10, managed to get the best out of Anelka, Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Malouda, and Ballack. You have to admit the egos of those men could fill the Pacific Ocean. Tactically alright but I don't think he could raise a rag-tag team like Atletico to La Liga champions. Simeone would fall apart at Real Madrid, Carlo would fail at Atletico.

Look at what Simeone has done with a inferior squad to any Carlo has had in the past few years. Chelsea, PSG, Milan, Real. Simeone has owned Carlo in spain. Real haven't beat them in their last 6 games or something like that.

Torres is old as well. Either way, give me prime Liverpool / Spain NT over prime Barcelona / Inter Eto'o. When Fernando was still world class the lad did things I've never seen any striker do, it seemed like he used to glide past defenders and finish from anywhere with ease.

Absolutely. He gets everything out of his players they would die for him. His team is a perfect representation of him. Any team can compete with the right formula.

I looked back at his prime in some detail when he started struggling for us and he actually was quite limited with his overall technical game, he never had the natural touch were the ball just stuck to his feet. If he was that good technically he wouldn't have declined so steeply, you don't go from the ball sticking to your foot to being unable to trap a bag of cement.

Danny Murphy touched up on that too. Also Torres was 29 last season, that's suppose to be peak years.

Since the CL final Atletico have won 3 against Real and drawn 2. It's interesting to note that Atletico went 14 years without beating Real Madrid home or away until the Copa del Rey final in 2013 against Mourinho in the Bernabeu. After that the mentality of the Atletico players shifted and their results against Real have improved drastically. I would really like to have seen what would have happened if Mourinho stayed on as Real manager. His record against Atletico was phenomenal until that final but it marked a turning point and I reckon Atletico would have taken the upper hand anyway.

Yeah I'd rather face them than Barcelona even if most people think Real are the best team in the world and Barca are completely past it. Atletico are the best defensive side in the world yet they were completely dominated by Barca last weekend just days after nullifying Madrid. You always have to rely somewhat on luck against Barca (e.g. Messi goal being disallowed in title-deciding game in La Liga last season) especially at the Camp Nou where it is impossible - even for Simeone's side - to stop them creating clear-cut chances. In contrast Atletico have shown that it isn't too hard to nullify and get at Madrid this season, probably because their players aren't so good in tight spaces and their midfield, especially now with no Alonso or Khedira, can be easily overrun.

I'll agree that technically he was not as good as any of the three listed. I consider Drogba to be much more of a big match striker though, and when both players were lighting the premier league up Torres might have been a tad better. Just look at some of his finishes with Liverpool, so much power and pace, no defender in the world could contain him when he was on his A game. You can't go wrong with any four of them.

I always thought Torres was a criminally under rated passer as well, he has provided some great balls throughout his career.
