Petr Cech - a belated tribute to a champion

I didn't want to give you some feedback in the same post as my welcoming post to mtowle, Alex, so here it is.

It was fucking quality.

Your articles are always a joy to read and I can never progress on to the forums without reading your article - when there's a new one up - first. This one, though, was a little different, because it contained vulgar language. You bad, bad boy. But boy, oh boy did it work. Not many articles include swear words as they're deemed inappropriate and, for the most part, heavily frowned upon. But this... this was genius...

Such was the confidence that Cech had in his own ability, it rubbed off on those watching, too. Manuel Neuer is supposedly a big presence on the goal-line during shoot-outs. The tall German with his piercing gaze twice jumps and pats the bar, giving it the verbals, also. Yet etched on Cech's face was a look of incredible determination. It was a look that said - "I've been here before. This time I am not fucking losing -not again". The focus in his eyes gave nothing away; instead it only showed the fire that was fuelling his resistance. Whilst Neuer obnoxiously pranced about, Cech said nothing and did nothing but hold his considerable arms out wide and keep his eyes fixed on the ball.

It read like poetry. Your ability to subtly alternate your tone within your writing is outstanding.

Anyway, I'll shut up now before your head gets any bigger...

Really brought into prespective how important cech was. I always gave him credit but many fans and the media often overlook his brilliance. In my oppinion he is the best keeper in the world. has better stats than almost anyone, even cassilas. He never gets the credit he deserves but even better he never asks for it. He knows that his teamates and true fans appreciate him and he is humble enough to be ok with that. God i love petr cech.

Cech isn't unappreciated but he's certainly taken for granted. He is the player we miss the most when he is injured. Should the day come when he leaves, or retires, only then will he be truly appreciated.

agree

maybe courtois is not bad replacement

but still

cech is the best :)
