Jase 43,479
So when torres joined on circa £175k terry joined him. Thats one of the reasons i find it hard to believe hazard is on £200k pwYes I've heard about this many times, I'm pretty sure it is true. So now if Hazard is really getting 200K it would like we're actually paying him 225K since we'd have to increase Terry's wages by 25K as well.I don't think Hazard is on 200K p/w as reported in the English media. Would much rather believe the French and Belgian media in this one. He'll be earning only 110K p/w at the club. It's arguably still a lot for a 21 y/o but certainly nowhere near the BS that the English media is writing!

Superblue 6,372
If £110k pw is gross then the post tax wage won't be as high as £170k as paye and nic is factored into the gross wage. There would be employers nic but this is capped at 13.8%.
Madmax 9,219
Exactly why are we suddenly talking about pre-tax/post-tax in the wages when it comes to Hazard?Because pre-tax is what matters when it comes to club's finances as it represents the actual outflow. For everyone, including Hazard.

Madmax 9,219
Yeah but never see this being mentioned in the previous transfer purchases and all of a sudden...I look for wages when it comes to finances, not transfer fees. Don't know about others.
Bir_CFC 3,455
I read a snippet about this the other day in one of our local newspapers in an article regarding luxury tax. The system you describe here is in implemented in one of the American sports leagues, isn't it?Yup, in basketball. I think it's a great system. If some over ambitious team wants to go over the salary cap, they still can, but it'll cost them double and they are forced to compensate the rest of the league. The only problem with it is that it has to be implemented in all football leagues, otherwise the premier league will loose a lot of quality. It'll get more competitive domestically and it'll encourage youth development even more so than now, but if it's not implemented worldwide then the premier league gets significantly less competitive in Europe.
