Just been wondering.Little Shannon Matthews has been missing for over 2 weeks now and her disapearence has had nowhere near the press coverage as Madeline Mcann has had.

Then it dawned upon me that Shannon's mother has 6 kids from 5 seperate father's who are all on the dole and she's on benefits herself.

Is it Shannon's fault that she comes from a dysfunctional family?-while Madeline's parents come from the 'silver spoon' hooray brigade?.

Why should it be that photogenic children get all the press coverage when they go missing,while the less better looking get left to rot?

Surely the child's saftey and finding them should be the most paramount factor.

This is only my personal opinion (and you lot can call me a heartless cunt if you want) but the Mcann's should be locked up for neglecting little Maddy,rather than getting the press attention like the media whores that they are.

Let's just hope little Shannon is found safe and well,and soon.Regardless of her family background.

Was thinking about this yesterday.

It's the middle class factor. Because 'Little Maddies' parents are qualified GPs, loads of dosh etc, yet this latest one is working class 'scum' as the papers would like to describe them, then it gets less attention.

Fact is, two little girls are missing, and they're both appalling cases. Yet the McCanns left their girl alone -negligence.

There was a middle class aspect to the Stephen Lawrence murder. Awful racist murder, yet the Daily Mail took up the case because he was studying to be a lawyer, and had 'respectable' parents. Wouldn't have touched it if it had been a 'Yoof' from Brixton.

It makes you sick the way the media single out certain people and groups.the press have too much freedom if you ask me.Especially when they're given 'carte blanche' to broadcast the Mother's private life.

No chance of The Sun suggesting Mrs Mcann is a drug taking part-time tom that cheated her exams to become a doctor.

The whole thing is werid imo.She wrote she wanted to live with her dad,her brother ran away so many times something aint right in this case so surprised social aint been round already

Very good news.Let's hope the press give Shannon the privacy she and her family need and deserve,afterall,the press did'nt give a toss about Shannon when she went missing.

No doubt the Social Services will be crawling all over this case before too long,unlike the middleclass media 'luvvies' the Mcann's

The only reason Police can have for keeping Shannon away from her family for this long is that they are as guilty as the family member that had her under a bed.

Also, Shannons step dad arrested for having the kiddie porn -he's 22. Bit suspicious him being with the mum, who, and lets be fair, is a bit of a munter - presumably just so he could have access to the kids.

Thread title seems a bit ironic now. Its is extremely different. House boarded up, mother arrested, Step dad a nonce, uncle arrested, who next out of their family ?

That said, there is a definite difference in how the media portray this family, and how the police talk about them, than the 'well to do', oh so innocent McCanns.
