The year of the dragon, right? Also when does the Chinese new year end? And is it a different symbol (ie. dragon) whenever the next year begins? Someone educate me on the Chinese new years lol :)

Chinese New Year is officially today but celebrations started Saturday night and will go for the next 10 days or so (some websites will tell you 15 days). Last night there were fireworks being set off from about 10 pm until 2 am continuously and sporadically for about 8 hours before and have been going on sporadically since 2 am. it is the biggest celebration of the year in China and families gather together to celebrate. We were cautioned not to attempt to travel with in China during the New Year Holiday.

Yes it is the year of the dragon this year and will be until next Chinese new year. The chinese zodiac is a yearly zodiac instead of a lunar (monthly) zodiac and it is a 12 year cycle. So if you were born in 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, 1952, etc. then you are a dragon. With in each zodiac sign there are 4 different types (water, fire, wood, earth).

Hope this helps, Wilson :)

Year of the dragon will last one year, from now until next January or February. It is lunar so instead of changing on January 1 with the calendar year it changes on the first new moon of the new year. This year that was Jan. 23rd. (Last year it was Feb 3). There are 12 animals in the zodiac so it will be the year of the dragon again in 2024 :) It is said that if you are a dragon you will find good fortune in the year of the dragon but you have to reach out and grab it. (Typical Chinese to wrap it in a riddle!)
