I haven't watched him for a number of years, but he looked like a good prospect when he won the AFCON. Has he not improved at all or what?

He seems to be an upper Championship player to me. Might be good enough for some PL-teams, but not good enough for Chelsea. Cahill, Luiz, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma and Aké are much better than him.

That might be the case now, but he should have been higher up our CB list back in 2012/3. Players aren't going to develop much going here, there & anywhere.

Agree, it's tough, especially for defenders. Aké had to work a lot to became a starter at Watford but we loaned him out elsewhere next season. At Bournemouth, it took months for him to became a starter then we recalled him.

Reckon he does not get a chance because of his ability (the lack thereof). I'm sure they watch him plenty in practices and when he's playing abroad.

Watched him a few times over the years and boy he's consistently poor to my eyes. He's not physical enough, not technical enough, and does not read the game particularly well. Only saving grace would be his pace for a CB.

Prob going to see out his deal and never get the same amount again.... only reason he's still at the club.
