Duppy Conqueror 1,539
yes i like it ..i am half welsh and half english..because i support England at football i have always supported Wales at rugby..my great Uncle Alan (Pask)played for Wales and the British Lions in the 60`s.he`s dead now tho,his house was on fire and he got everyone out..the dog was still inside, so he went back in and didn`t make it out.. he was a wonderful man,a true gentle giant off the field. had the biggest hands i`ve ever seen in my life, he played number 8 but was fast and could keep up with and even catch some of the backs. he would have been a great in this era too. he was a geography and P.E teacher when not playing Rugby..as well it`s not that long ago the game went pro is it.have a lot of relatives that played at various levels but he was the most decorated. he had 26 caps for Wales, i can`t remember how many caps he got for the Lions,i`ll have to ask my ma the next time i see her,see if she remembers.i guess there`s not anyone old enough to remember him on here?i only got to see old footage of him ,mainly from the house he had on a mountain in Blackwood,(same place as most of the Manic street preachers come from) it was funny but when he would tell his stories it would be about the other players as if he was just a fan who happened to be there..when in fact in the mid 60`s he was arguably one of the best forwards in the world and was captain a few times! dodojojo 510
I thought there was another Rugby world cup thread around? I remember posting on it...Anyhow, I'm rooting for the All Blacks as I lived there as a kid. My maternal family are in Australia and NZ, so there's divided loyalty. Pity the games are in early morning for the US and I won't be able to watch any of them live. Unbelievably, the games are being shown on a free channel in my area which makes missing them worse.Edit: however, I'll be able to catch replays in the late evening, yay! zolayes 14,489
Yeah I'm probably a bigger rugby fan than I am football. I'm half kiwi so will be supporting the All Blacks. half a kiwi ....you must be called Chelsea ,,,only one wing and can't fly
Ollie 4,400
I've always liked Rugby but never really got into it enough to watch it all the time. I've always liked Wasps in Union but actually prefer watching Rugby League club matches, the tempo is great even tho all the decent teams are from up north. Internationally tho, Rugby Union is much better and i will be watching every England match at the world cup if i get time.
zolayes 14,489
played both codes ,,,still the best to watch is a good Union international .. but for clubs League ...and the Queensland v NSW league series is special
chrismada9 1,948
I followed the 2007 Rugby World Cup quite a lot, but apart from that, Rugby is something I can't get into. It's difficult for me to be interested in another sport when Football takes the bast majority of your time and attention.
Ollie 4,400
Some early scores:Friday 9th SeptemberA] New Zealand 41-10 TongaSaturday 10th SeptemberB] Scotland 34-24 RomaniaD] Fiji 49-25 NamibiaA] France 47-21 JapanSo Scotland have already proved they are shit, they were actually losing with 5 minutes to go! Japan had France at only a 4 point deficit at 25-21 until they ran out of steam so early nerves already taking part it seems.Argentina vs England kicks off in 40 minutes (the time i leave for work!!), not an easy game at all but think we'll win it by about 10-15 points. Ollie 4,400
Wales giving South Africa a good game atm, H/T 10-6 down but they've recovered well from the early try. I heard we got lucky yesterday but a win's a win. Argentina are certainly no mugs at this game, they were in the Semi's in 07 and actually got 3rd place overall. We beat a good team and beating one of the best teams in the group in the first game almost guarantees the passage through.

Hysteria 159
I was looking France vs Japan yesterday, looks like an interesting sport, more fluid than american football in my opinion. (In my country nobody watch rugby i think lol)
