You can call him a fringe player, but for many on here - or maybe just me - he was the man of Pre-season, he showed how much of a threat he was and was continously making attacks out of nothing. If you want someone that can make the team better not in the team, then surely you are deluded. I would rather have Benayoun as a first team starter on the left wing then Malouda, or on the right instead of Kalou.

If rumours are true that Benay is going for a Modric deal, think Honda can play that Squad role well. Another option for a free kick taker as well as being a versatile midfeilder that can play multiple of role when needed. Defensive, offensive and a second striker - would be about 8 million as well.

Kalou's development for me has reached the point where it isn't likely to exceed, and even though he does have his talents - they don't shine through enough to sustain a position at the club higher then the role as a bench warmer, which alternatively could be given to someone who has development left to grow in. Kalou might have been a good striker, but we tried to convert him to a winger, which didn't pan out as much as we hoped. I have nothing against him personally, as i firmly believe he is a top bloke, but it is his inconsistentcy that deems him nothing more then a sub.
