I get that Kepa isn't the most amazing keeper but to let your #1 leave (on loan) with the opening game of the season a day away is crazy.
-
Should be sold with a buy back at this stage of his career.
-
If getting a good CM was that easy, we should have had our signings completed by now. Also, a good CM can turn into a match-winner or game changer with their influence in midfield (just look at Casemiro for United, Rodri for City, even Kante at the peak of his powers).
-
If his father didn't play for them in the past, Haaland wouldn't be at City right now. Bellingham turned them down in favor of Real Madrid.
-
I mean talk about a f*cking transfer saga. Wonder if Boehly asks his investors to bid for Brighton Football Club next....that would save all the hassle with these transfers 😃
-
I mean....that's just funny. Boehly about to bid 111 million + 1 pound just to mess around with Brighton
-
Until Ornstein or Romano says anything about this, it just sounds like people trying to get their clicks!
-
Surely we can get Lavia in to help with the midfield rebuild and might as well get Kudus (as he's been stalling the Brighton deal as they weren't interested in a release clause).
-
Wasn't it Carragher on twitter who said that Liverpool have the funds for Caicedo and he's shocked that they haven't moved for him...and then literally within a week, Liverpool get their midfielder.
-
What was our last bid for Caicedo? I hope they don't 'somehow' get him for like 90 million after Brighton kept quoting us 100 million.
-
How do you know they can't afford him? Klopp likes his statement signings, Alisson, VVD. If they get Caicedo, they won't need to worry for the next 10 years.
-
Sounds like we're trying to force Brighton's hand a bit, letting them know that we're ready to sign Lavia for way less than Caicedo. I still see Lavia ending up at Liverpool though, there's no way they bid 45 million and then not match 48 million.
-
Just hope Hall gets proper minutes, not just cameo appearances.
-
Who is actually available though? Our only links to attackers were: Kudus/Olise/Cherki and then for whatever reason the interest in Cherki was gone. It's a shame we didn't go after Barnes from Leicester, would have been a nice squad pickup (and HG).
-
Doesn't Humphreys contract expire before then? Hopefully he signs the contract extension and then we get him a solid loan this season. Looked like a decent young CB during pre-season.
-
You would think it would be this week or the transfer is completely off... I don't see why Brighton would sell him once the season starts.
-
If there is no Caicedo, our starting midfield is Enzo - Gallagher and we're finishing 10th or worse. Do fans not realize that Jorginho/Kante/Kovacic have ALL left the club.
-
Is it though? I don't see Gallagher playing that many minutes at CM if we're going to play a midfield 2 and Andrey hasn't even played a minute of PL football yet. I'm sort of surprised we didn't put in a bid for Hojberg, has that pressing ability and would have been a solid squad player to have alongside Enzo and hopefully Caicedo.
-
Yes, and if these youngsters turn out to be as good as Wenger's Arsenal, that's not a bad thing. I wouldn't mind a few seasons of rebuilding with solid top 4 finishes along the way. Agreed but who do we sign that offers leadership qualities right now? If only there was someone like Casemiro available for our midfield, who could come in and steady the ship and be the experienced head for these younger guys. I'm just not sure where the club turns to for that leadership as we're definitely short of that 28-30 year old profile in midfield that Makelele/Matic/Obi Mikel type to shore up the midfield and break up the play as required.
-
I just hope he gets enough game time at Palace.
-
I agree but by the sounds of last season and all the rumors going around, it was the senior players kicking up a fuss and not really putting in the effort required on the pitch (other than Thiago Silva). Senior players are important but you also need the right senior players in the team that lead from the front. We really do miss guys like JT, Lamps in the side.
-
City was going to collect silverware anyway. They already have Dias, Laporte, Ake, Stones and then they go and get one of the best young defenders in world football... Not to mention they have the alien upfront.
-
Is Disasi really that slow? We used to have Gary Cahill among others at CB and he wasn't exactly quick.
-
You can't be loaded with will and determination then put up pathetic performances the seasons after winning a UCL title. That would mean the players rose to the occasion but they weren't actually that good (or they just don't care and were just here to pick up their nice wage packets) and that was proven by the disaster we've been through with Potter/Lampard in charge. I don't mind seeing some of these younger players keen to take on the challenge, feels like it's been a while since we've seen that sort of energy and positive play on the pitch. Most of the deadwood is gone, so its like a fresh start for Poch, he just needs to find a partner for Enzo ASAP.

The only concerning names on that list are Ziyech, Lukaku and Cucurella. In Sterling's case, it's probably similar to Lukaku, its up to them if they "want" the Saudi League move or not.
