I think it is a tactical concept. he wants to kill off the game with locking down the flanks, pinning their wing backs back but simultenously protecting our flanks doubly. And he thinks we need giroud because of their physicality.

exactly but that is sarris fault. we have played brilliant counter attacks with the same players under conte. counter attacks have to be practiced but when you are technically limited you are easier off than i na posession based system

i think a proper pragmatic, counter attacking manager with a good eye for youth development like Simeone or Allegri could still comfortably make 4th place next season. we have plenty of counter attacking players like Kante, Pedro, CHO, RLC, Barkley and also some youths coming through like Abraham and James. we need someone to fix that defence and we will be ok. Recall Zouma, Abraham, James we can build a technically limited but fierce side with the right coach.

Its true. i only watched the alst 20 minutes but we had way more of the ball and also played out good chances vs a very low block. it makes a real difference when RLC is on the ball. also we look way more fluid without Alonso (obviously) and even Hazard.

We really have no chance to win this in an open match. They are too intense, strong and disciplined. Also they have a coach who actually knows 1 or 2 things about how to set up a team and organizing a defence other than good old Sarri. All we can hope for is that they become reckless, Hazard has a good day and picks them apart like messi did to Pool today. I dont see it but a possibiligy. Frankfurt play a bit similar to liverpool and i can see them dominating the game from minute 1 but they are not always clinical so our chance is to counter attack them.

Messi might very well the reason Argentina never won a world cup recently IMO. Messi basically made the team selection himself resulting in them leaving Dybala and Icardi out of the team often not even featuring Agüero or just Higuain. With that strikeforce alone a good manager would make more of it that the few goals they scored at world cups. Messi choked it just as he did the Copa America finals they lost because of him. But IMO international football is worthless assessing the quality of a player. Overall the quality in international football is just poor and the competitons are obviously corrupted. I regard world cups as some kind of holiday showcase tutorial. Entertaining but of no footballing value.
