Magic Lamps

Not really the same level. they had 9 players out including some of their best players esp Cabella, Wanderson and Claeson. From their regular offense they basically only had Berg left who is absolute pants. They were pretty poor quality wise but they fought hard and defended quite well for large spells of the game. We should have been more comfortable but as long as we have Mendy and Chilwell I am really not that fuzzed. Our defence overall without Alonso, Emerson or Kepa sabotaging it, is not as bad as people always want to make you believe. Our midfield gets steamrolled every game by every opposition but our defence is so used to 0 protection, it can hold its own more or less in most games

This. Nagelsmann is good for his age and has done really well developing some players but he can be super hit and miss tactically just as Other newbie coaches despite being relatively experienced. It is always easy to say fire this coach hire this coach. But really if you watch a manager game in game out it really takes the gloss off him.

I know. The quality of chances is exactly what is so subjective about it. Every shot or goal is in itself unique so it’s hard to derive a scoring probability for most. on the other front I disagree. A professional footballer should expected to score from inside the 5yd box no matter the angle and ziyech had really really clear shots.

tbf I am beginning to think xG is absolute bollocks. How could we expect less than 1 goal from 14 shots ffs? even if you take aim from 25 yards out 14 times surely one is gonna fly in. The Pulisic goal was a shot you expect him to either score or square to werner to tap into an empty net. Then if you get penalties how does this not count into xG? you can never know how the move would have ended if the offence had not been committed. Also Ziyech had 3 clean shots at goal which he rolled at the goalie. surely he should have scored one of those (instead he scored the most difficult one). I get the feeling xG is very very selective and biased.

in the PL yes. but yeah 80 was maybe a bit OTT. probably like 60 in all comps.

Stll not conceded a goal with Mendy and Chilwell on the pitch. We will never be perfect at the back but no team is. City, pool, Bayern all concede tons of chances and still are bailed out by their goalies. we are still not super solid but we make the chances we concede difficult enough for mendy to have a chance to save the shots which he has done excellently so far. This alone I would consider an improvement. Today was not a perfect match but I dont think we ever were not in control of the game given the quality of chances we conceded and the amount of chances we created. So there is progress even if it is just baby steps.

Solid comeback. Kept things simple. The game was alright for him as he helped keeping a clean sheet + Silva fresh. But he really is a ticking time bomb. Today we were lucky we were playing such a poor side overall. But Rüdiger and Zouma made Krasnodars anyway slow attack look like absolute sloths.

Jorginho missed 2 from 5 excluding shootout this season. scored 2 vs cp and one vs brighton, missed 2 vs liverpool and today. overall Jorginho has a record that is similar to Lamps but Lamps scored like 80 penalties and had an overall success rate of 85% at that whilst Jorginho scored under 30 to date. The more pens you take the more likely goalies are gonna figure out the way you take them, learn you tell so to say and it gets more difficult to score regularly. lampard missed more towards the end of his career but if you start not converting earlier after not that many tries relatively, you either should change your technique or someone else should take the pens.

tbf Ziyech was so gracious to warm him up by shooting quite a few balls straight at him. Classy lad.

sorry but that is absolute BS. We really should stop this defeatist attitude. There were some nervy bounceball moments but Mendy was always in control. He had every narrow shot covered, even the one that hit the bar. It really getsus nowhere to foster this negative narrative just to blow off some steam. The performance has not been ideal but at no point in time we were outplayed.

Actually i was pretty chill. krasnodar really were poor and only trheatened by chance. their thugball defence was always gonna run out of steam.

all our shots really could not have been worse executed. most most scuffed one was the goal. but luckily the same has been the case for Krasnodar.

ziyech really cant place his shots to save his life

the sparse crowd reminds me of the little hair the russian players would have left. in both cases would be more asthetic to be cut altogether

I was never a fan of gilmours lack of physicality but the one thing i like about him he always looks for the progressive pass first and just settles for the safe one when there is no runner whilst jorginho always looks for the safe pass and only occasionally looks up for the runner. This is hwat makes gilmour distinct from any other dms, the ability to spot and pick up runners without taking ages on the ball. if only he was big

ziyech is a joy to watch with his ideas but havertz is super wasteful. he really should up his game, just too lax and sloppy from him

we have no midfielders to make passes between the lines and cut through their midfield. kovacic and jorginho almost always play ist safe

they are playing absolute thug ball. really should be punished harder by the ref

Ziyech tenency to shoot when there are lots of players in front of him is something he has to get rid off. poor shot when werner was free

tbf you are in a way better position to see space with the camera angle than the players on the pitch

I like willian's the best. i think it is totally fine to check if the goalie dives early as long as you still can make a powerful an dprecise shot.if he doesnt dive just hit it in the topcorner. no idea why so many players take flat or no look penalties. when you practice this all day you should be able to hit one in the top corner every time.

Not really i think he has 8/11 or so. Jorginho is around 22/25

Krasnodar are slow AF but at least they can defend. we really sholuld be sharper. the missed pen will give them unnecessary hope here they go

why do the hop when you roll is past the empty net anyway ffs i dont get this. just strike the fkin pen in the top corner. no goalie will save that even if he guessed right.
