They had Neymar and Messi and purchased Suárez, so Sánchez became unneeded. Back then, Arsenal trusted in his quality and payed good money for him. Arsenal don't pay 42 million euros for players all the time like City, it was a big step for them. The question is: do we need a player like him? Okay, each teammates of him are worse player than him and they have been playing like shit, but this is not likeable behaviour. Agree, it's tough, especially for defenders. Aké had to work a lot to became a starter at Watford but we loaned him out elsewhere next season. At Bournemouth, it took months for him to became a starter then we recalled him.

He seems to be an upper Championship player to me. Might be good enough for some PL-teams, but not good enough for Chelsea. Cahill, Luiz, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma and Aké are much better than him.

I like Lukaku, Lacazette and Icardi a lot but if Costa departs I would go for this guy for sure.. He is so much like Diego.. World class, no doubt.

He got like 200 minutes of playing time in his first 2-3 months at Chelsea then none. It's hard to say he failed here, just like Pato. They didn't get a chance to show their values.

Then why does Conte ignore Fábregas? It looks like he prefers a strong destroyer next to Kanté. Matic is very good but he is quite poor with the ball, not a good header and doesn't have good shots. I think Fabinho or Nzonzi can offer us what Matic can but they are better in a few areas. I think Matic is just like Pedro/Willian: decent players, but there are others who would fit in better to our team. We don't need many new players next season but a good DM and a RW upgrade would be great.

Moses is very good at defending too, yet he doesn't play central midfielder. We need someone like Nainggolan or Nzonzi there.

In the midfield? Conte don't even play Fábregas there. It's pretty clear that he needs two defensive midfielders. Kanté and a taller, stronger one. I highly doubt Arda would ever play as a CM at Chelsea. Arda is a very good player but definetly not the one we need right now.

We have Moses, Willian and Pedro. 3 not world class but fighting right wingers. Do you really want to sign another one? If we sign someone to the right wing we should go for a right attacking midfielder who brings new color to the game, not an other hard worker.

That's what I was thinking as well. Azpilicueta is not very tall for a CB, Moses, Pedro, Hazard and Kante are small guys. Replacing Matic with Verratti would leave us with 6 players under 180 cm out of 10(not counting Courtois). I'd rather sign Fabinho os N'zonzi.
