  1. You'd be hard pressed to name two out and out strikers that are better than Falcao, I would love to see you try. Yes it is a lot of money but that's the price you pay for match winners, we need one! Look what Utd are giving Van P, PSG Ibra, Ronaldo? Messi? even Sanchez cost a lot! We need a match winner and I would be SHOCKED if with all this smoke we don't end up with Falcao... We're assuredly selling Sturridge which means another striker is coming in in January.
  2. Really dude? 10 billion pounds? why not go for eleventy seventy chillion billion! If we're in for Falcao its because WE CAN AFFORD IT! the Board have said millions of time that they are in favour of FFP and have been making every effort to comply, what makes you think they all of a sudden about to say "fuck that lets just sign Falcao"? About all they can do is count beans! They know are finances much, MUCH, MUCH better than any of us. If they deem it doable to get Falcao then it has to be because we can!
  3. Exactly! GOALS WIN GAMES not Modric or Moutinho... We need goals our Defense only looks leaky because we don't have enough goals up top
  4. Match winner is the most glaring of all and truly there aren't that many out there that are available. Goals win games not Modric.... Look at Utd, they had Rooney, Chica, Welbeck, Berba and they still ignored their concerns in the midfield and grabbed one of the worlds best strikers. I believe Falcao will have more of an affect on our ability to win games than a CM, LB and cheap CF. Also you don't know what our financial situation is, as I've said before Gourlay said a couple months ago that there is a big sponsorship deal int he works that will be announced in Feb. With that and the new TV deal we probably won't even have to worry about FFP... We could easily sell the naming rights to the Bridge too(not ideal but definitely an option if we're ever in a pickle) Signing Falcao is an unbelievably excellent move for a big club! He is without a doubt the worlds best finisher. Remember when Drogba was winning everything for us singlehandedly? ya that!
  5. I'm 100% sure the club is aware of this, if we are indeed in for Falcao its because we can afford it! Gourlay mentioned two months ago that there is a huge Sponsorship deal that will be announced in February, I feeling is that coupled with the new TV deal will put FFP concerns to bed
  6. There are no perfect teams, everyone is wanting in some area on the pitch. Match winners are without a doubt the most important aspect in deciding games, goals win games.
  7. Are we talking about football transactions or tv's from future shop??? Wow this is getting annoying! Mate if we use the 12m to help fund Falcao then yes, we have effectively used the money from a sturridge sale to buy Falcao! Why is that so hard to comprehend? I was merely asking you if we could trade Sturridge and £36m for Falcao would you do it? All this nonsense about Caroll and Liverpool is utter garbage. If you're answer is no simply say no
  8. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!??! That is precisely how it works! money in on transfers is used to fund incoming transfers... We sell assets to fund the acquisition of other assets! And yes I do have a Falcao fetish, I like players who score bushels of goals particularly for my club... It can most certainly go sour but the likelihood is lessened when you look at the type of player he is and how long he's been on top of his game. Low bust potential IMO.
  9. You've lost the plot mate... I'm not willing to go back and forth with a guy that thinks Real will sell Coentrao for 12M and Porto's Moutinho is worth 28.5M.... And that buying Ba who is a bandaged up striker who is one Cattermole tackle from the glue factory is a decent striker to challenge the likes of the Mancs and the rest of the world beaters. What a joke. I'm gonna put this to you as well, if you were told at the beginning of the year we could have Falcao for Sturridge and £36M would you do it?
  10. You're avoiding the question. Is Sturridge (perhaps with performance add ons) and £36M a decent price to pay for the World's best striker? Keep in mind we're looking for players for 2 positions. We have Oscar, Ramires, Lamps, Essien, Luiz and Mikel(he misses 4 games for ACON) competing for two positions, its not THAT bad when you throw Luiz in the midfield.
  11. I really think Luiz can play in the midfield. I really do! We can also recall Essien... Mate... We can't let the bust that is Torres keep us from meeting our club ambitions. He was a massive waste of money but in order to get back to elite status we need to take it and move on. If we could get Falcao for Sturridge and 36M you wouldn't do it? given what you know about the situation we're in now? wow.
  12. Not to the third party group that own Falcao's rights. When Atleti sold Aguero to City the money went straight to the tax man. The money they used to prize Falcao was from a third party group they are clearly the people trying to drive this thing through before the summer. His value will never be higher than it is now. Its not a certainty but with Sturridge going out I would really doubt we would just use the money from that transaction to get another back up striker. It makes more sense we go big now and grab Falcao! If you were told at the beginning of the year you could trade Falcao for Sturridge and £36M would you do it? I certainly would. Get Falcao to push Torres recall Lukaku for next year. Done.
  13. Balague is the furthest thing from reliable. Also if we're to buy a cheaper striker now and go big in the summer for Falcao what's the difference? Whether we go big now or later the difference is we could be less attractive in the summer. It can only get more expensive in the summer...
  14. That's what I mean. Wages. So you're saying by two strikers by next year? while still keeping Torres? what about Lukaku he should be back next year no?
  15. You think the price will drop in the summer? It could go up! PSG, CITY, REAL etc... will all be potentially bidding in the summer not ideal for a team that could be out of the Champs league by then
  16. I find it ironic that you're defending the Torres purchase and battering a Falcao bid... Hahaha anyways. So a year and a half before purchase isn't enough of a sample size for you? August 2009 till January 2011? Isn't this supposed to have some pertinent meaning as to what form he was in the leading up to the purchase? We all know that once upon a time he was a great striker but given the poor form and the injury it made little sense. How far back do you want to go? And at what point is it relevant to his form before purchase by Chelsea? in 2008-09 Michael Owen scored 14 goals in 29 games, a pretty decent return should we be looking at that with reference to buying a striker? The key word is BEFORE he joined us recent history of a year and a half is enough for me and the fact the trend continued nearly two years into his time here is also evidence. You really think that Chelsea didn't show up for the Super Cup? given what you've seen this year you still believe that? I don't but at any rate I'll concede that his hat trick against us in a cup final is miniscule to Torres' two against us... What about the other 52 goals he's scored? LOL. Even if you give Torres his wack community Shield goal his record pales in comparison to Falcao. And I'm sorry two goals against Genk in the Champions league vs. two goals in the finals of the Europa league doesn't even come close, if you think it does we should end the convo now. And no its not the same as any big name striker simply because you're ignoring the volume of goals scored. Falcao scores bushels of goals against big clubs, in big games and also small clubs, to put it frank, he just scores! And what is the 'etc.' of big teams Torres scored against? Stoke city, Portsmouth? give it a rest bro! there is no comparison to Falcao when we're talking about Torres. None. Maybe I'm so adamantly against Torres because I was indeed one person who NEVER wanted him at the time of purchase! NOT ONE SECOND! whether you choose to believe me or not is your prerogative but its the god's honest truth! I watched him during the World cup and he looked so slow, his movement was non-existent and it carried over into the start of the season with Liverpool and never really got better. I hear what you say about FFP and if it fails we're in a massive hole, but what if it works? What if Falcao just continues to be in form Falcao? The amount of goals don't really matter to me its the weight! For instance Didier didn't do a whole lot of scoring last year but the ones he did get you could say counted like three. That is why I want Falcao the guy is a match winner not a pile on goalscorer like Torres is. If you can find a better, more in form striker that is available for cheaper I will back it 100% but don't say we don't need Falcao and through out the names Holt, Ba and Villa in his place! That's ridiculous...
  17. you should read this... http://www.weaintgotnohistory.com/2012/12/20/3785988/falcao-fernando-torres-scoring-against-weak-opponents-chelsea-liverpool-atletico-madrid
  18. LOL try telling that to Bilbao(EL finals) and Deportivo, or even Chelsea for that matter... He is without a doubt a match winner. The fact that you're pointing to Cech and an over the hill Terry as our elite level talent speaks volumes to me... Can you build a team around Cech? JT was world class he wouldn't be considred anything close to that by most people now. Mata is burgeoning talent you can't mention him in elite class yet, he's an up and comer he's not in his prime yet. Elite to me is Van Persie, Aguero, Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra, Xavi, Yaya, Falcao, Cavani, Lahm, Iniesta. We finished 6th in the prem league last year, we're out at the group stage in Europe this year... I think its safe to say at current we aren't an elite level team right now. Its a transitional year not too similar from what happened at Liverpool... If we want to end this transition period we need to add prime time talent that is at the elite level. Adding a few spare parts here and there to paper over the cracks will not do much in the race to become elite, sure we'll consistently finish top 4 and we'll beat some good teams now and again but without elite talent we won't be competing with the Barca's, Real's, Mancs, Bayern, Dortmund etc. That's where we want to be not duking it out with Tottenham He's not the only striker but he is the BEST! and he happens to be available could you say the same thing for the other big name strikers out there?
  19. Again, what makes you think buying Falcao means we won't get a midfielder? We have no clue where our financial outlook is at. I'm operating under the guise that the Board, if anything, are bean counters and will know if this is an investment we can handle
  20. I'm not sure depth is what we need right now. We don't have a single player in their prime... We need to acquire elite level talent to help our younger starlets mature at a reasonable pace. Currently there's just too much pressure on them. We don't need more Ramireses we need a big time performer to get us over the hump.
  21. No we don't have any strikers. We have a loser whose being paid like a top striker and producing like a league one player. We need elite level talent not more middling depth, that is the difference between the top teams and the second tier which you'd like us to be strong in. Look at the top teams in the world and try and find one team that doesn't have an elite level player on high wages! Yes we fucked up massively on signing Torres but does that mean we shouldn't keep with the club's ambitions? Because we shit the bed on Torres everything should stop until he's gone? That's ludicrous! Chelsea's ambition as a club is bigger than a £50m investment. You say we can't afford him flopping, I say we can't afford to keep playing with a recognized in form striker. And with this notion of spreading the money around on other parts on the pitch isn't there a risk that those lesser investments could flop too? wouldn't we be in the exact same predicament now? The difference is if Falcao works out we could have the biggest match winner at CF on our team, a guy capable of winning matches on his own. That is invaluable to me.
