  1. Seems convenient or selective to just randomly select the last 13 games. Why not 10? 15? Or 20? But whatever.
  2. But that would still leave us with just Werner and Havertz as the two striker options.
  3. Just suggesting it in the event that we really can't get any striker. I don't think it'll happen either but stranger things have happened between players and managers. Maybe Tuchel doesn't need to promise Abraham a starting role, just perhaps a more prominent role in the team, more involvement etc.
  4. One would think or hope they would do better next season but I don't think even Tuchel is crazy enough to go with just two players for the striker position, especially when they're both likely to play at the same time a lot. Then you also gotta factor in form, injury, suspension, rotation etc. Either we find someone low-key that fits into Tuchel's system or if we really can't find anyone, then maybe Tuchel and Abraham might reconcile.
  5. It's recovery day for the players today. They get the day off tomorrow and then back on Wednesday to prep for the final.
  6. Was not called up by Luis Enrique.
  7. Yup, he switched allegiance. https://theathletic.com/news/euro-2020-aymeric-laporte-france-spain/dkglUbDKpzFn
  8. Agree with the point against bottom half sides under Tuchel but the ironic thing is, we ended up picking only 3 points less against those sides under Tuchel than under Lampard (18 v 21). The biggest disparity and unsurprisingly comes with the points gained against top half sides. Under Lampard, we got only 8 points but under Tuchel, we gained 20 points! And we ended up picking only 2 more points against top half teams than bottom half sides under Tuchel.
  9. Tuchel will have a presser today to preview the CL final. Should tell us more about Mendy.
  10. As @Superblue_1986 alluded to in another thread, the question is whether Hazard's decline is irreversible. If it's irreversible, then it's a waste of time and money to bring him back because he would just be a deadwood and on top of that, he is already 30 years old. How many years does he have left, if any, at the highest level in his current state?
  11. WOW! Azpi has been called up to the Spain NT for Euro 2020!
  12. In terms of full backs, only 4 players have more assists than Chilwell in the league this season: Robertson - 7 (3,386 mins) TAA - 7 (2,997 mins) Digne - 6 (2,232 mins) Coufal - 6 (2,605 mins) Shaw also has 5 assists from 2,604 mins played.
  13. From BBC: Chelsea's Ben Chilwell registered his eighth goal involvement in the Premier League this season (3 goals, 5 assists) - among defenders, only Trent Alexander-Arnold has been involved in more (9).
  14. Well, thank god the season is played over 38 games and not over the last 3 games! If we profited from others slipping up in recent games, then one could also argue that the other teams profited from us slipping up hopelessly under Lampard. We basically "gave" them a head start when Tuchel came in and they still couldn't take full advantage.
  15. As someone else said above, no thanks. The ship has sailed. Who's going to pay big money for this current Hazard anyway (by the way, he got injured again last week) and in the midst of this pandemic? And that Edu Aguirre seems to be working for the Spanish media outlet that did that stupid dramatic reaction after he was seen laughing with Zouma.
  16. On our striker search, according to the latest on The Athletic... https://theathletic.com/2607717/2021/05/24/Chelsea-secure-champions-league-top-four-without-prolific-striker-imagine-with-one/ - Any hopes of getting Haaland are now gone after Dortmund qualified for the Champions League. Dortmund weren't keen on selling him before, definitely have no intention of doing so now - Lukaku not pushing to leave Inter and he loves playing for Conte but that could change if Conte leaves the club - Man City favorites to sign Kane and Levy doesn't want to do business with us - Aguero going to Barcelona
  17. An interesting piece on our chance creation problem, particularly from midfield... https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/features/2021/5/14/22435783/why-arent-Chelsea-scoring-more-goals-and-how-can-we-fix-that
  18. Maybe so but on the flip side, Abraham missed 22 big chances in the league last season, second only to Jesus. He might have ended up with more goals then than Werner did this season but he had a nice purple patch at the start with 7 goals coming in the first 5 games and then scoring just 8 more in his other 29 appearances.
  19. If your basis for wanting to start Pulisic in the Champions League final because of an assist yesterday and what he did in the semi-final, then did Tuchel not make the right decision to start Ziyech in the FA Cup final? Pulisic did nothing in the two games leading up to that final while Ziyech got the equalizer at City and got us to the final because of his winner against City in the semi-final.
  20. Are you seriously making a big deal out of an assist in a defeat? It wouldn't have mattered if we lost 2-0 or 2-1 considering we still ended up losing. And it certainly wasn't a one man contribution in the team reaching the Champions League final. Others also contributed.
  21. Mount has been described as an "attacking midfielder" in a lot of spaces and he himself as well as Tuchel have talked about wanting to provide more assists, to score more goals especially. So, is it not fair to judge him on the G + A output?
