Will be happy if he can prove me wrong but Zouma is basically another Cahill, IMO. Good and solid in defensive systems but found wanting in more progressive, attacking systems. Positionally poor, not great intelligence in higher defensive line and offers average, unambitious passing when on the ball. As Vesper mentioned above, I'd rather go with Luiz and Christensen at Old Trafford. At least they have decent chemistry by now having played together last season along with the full backs.

Blame the board. God knows why they're still happy over keeping an average player. Could have gotten over 50 million (or whatever it was) for him last summer!

I don't trust Zouma either. Suspect defensively and looks so cumbersome whenever he's on the ball.

That combo is a disaster waiting to happen.

Hope Lampard picks a CB partnership and settles with it. Has chopped and changed so many times during pre-season, which is partly understandable but the season is about to start and we need to have a settled defence if we are to avoid committing stupid mistakes at the back.

This Gladbach match is the perfect sign of things to come in 2019/20. Can create lots of chances but not clinical enough and at the same time, give away silly goals. At least we showed that we can fight our way back into matches. FUN TIMES AHEAD!

The game, so far, has been less frenetic than the other day. Controlling play a little better, less exposed defensively but still giving away the ball stupidly in dangerous areas. Looking decent going forward at least. Should have scored at least by now (damn it, Tammy!).

1 clean sheet in 7 pre-season games. Eeek!

I get that but our No.10 shirt has never really carried that same WOW factor. I mean, these are the list of folks who wore that number at the club.

I don't really get all the outrage over shirt numbers. It's the players who make the number noteworthy/memorable, not the other way round. And if Hazard hadn't worn the No.10 shirt previously, would people even be feeling outraged over Willian taking it?

The Favorite Chelsea Player list in the Profile has been updated. No more Hazard or Higuain. But there's now Bakayoko, Kenedy to choose from.

This might actually be a proper transition season for us. It has been thrown around a bit in last 2-3 seasons but we were still expected to challenge for major trophies. This season will be a free hit. If we can finish in the top 4/win a trophy, it'll be great. Otherwise, am expecting more on improvement from the players and team as a whole. It needs to be about laying the foundation for the future. Not convinced will suit what Lampard wants from this team. He and Luiz in defence are disasters waiting to happen, IMO. Will be happy if I'm proven wrong though.

The main concern I have - am sure everyone does as well - is our strikers. We are found wanting in that position. Otherwise with what we have right now, think we'll be okay for this season at least, as long as the players put in the shifts week in week out.
