Spending big money is still spending big money. Besides, you’re counting just 2 clubs. What about Chelsea (twice), Real Madrid and Man United? Main point here is he’s always gone to clubs with big spending power - apart from Porto but that was more than 15 years ago - and Spurs don’t quite fit the bill. Our situation in 2004/05 was somewhat different than now. It allowed a tad more room to get young and upcoming players and build from there. Moreover, Mourinho spent quite a bit during his first spell here, let’s not forget that. If Mourinho has suddenly made 180 degrees change, then fair play but if his recent history is anything to go by, then this won’t go well at Spurs because he’s not going to be able to spend big money. When he came back here in 2013, he looked like a changed man, calling himself ‘The Happy One’ and all that but it didn’t take long before he reverted to his old self.

Mourinho spent approximately 150 million across 2 seasons at Inter Milan. The transfer market may not been so busted like now 10-11 years ago but he still went out there and spent. It's only at Porto where he didn't have big spending budget. Otherwise, he's pretty much spent big with other clubs and always want big signings. And when he doesn't get what he wants, he throws his toys out of the pram. It's been built on players doing his bidding? Doesn't that apply to every other manager? Every manager go out there to spend and buy players that fit what they want and Mourinho has been one of the very few managers who's been able to spend A LOT. He spent like over 300 million at United, for example, it got him/them nowhere. Mourinho might be okay with not challenging for trophies immediately but after a season or two perhaps, he would want to do so and that means, he would want to spend (similar to our case in 2013/14 & 2014/15) and Levy has been very stingy when it comes to spending.

Do people actually still care which club he manages these days? I know he's our most successful manager but he burnt that Chelsea bridge long ago.

Pochettino was unhappy at Spurs because Daniel Levy didn't want to spend and now he's gonna get Mourinho, who wants to spend hundreds of millions of dollars, to replace Pochettino?!

Chelsea hopeful over transfer ban appeal – but with Lampard’s youth policy in full flow would it be a disaster if it failed? https://theathletic.com/1382138/2019/11/19/chelsea-hopeful-over-transfer-ban-appeal-but-with-lampards-youth-policy-in-full-flow-would-it-be-a-disaster-if-it-failed/

It’s non-injured vs non-injured at this point.

Apart from the United game, the team's setup has generally been fine in the big games. Not perfect yet but right now, it's the stupid mistakes that are costing us - so many of them have come from set pieces! Wouldn't say Mourinho was 100% wrong with his comments but what does he know about setting up for the big games other than parking the bus and hoping for the best? Plus let's face it, Mourinho is not and will never be a fan of youth players. Our setup was crap in that United away game and the experienced players were the ones making stupid mistakes but what did Mourinho do? He blamed the younger players - Mount, Abraham etc. Didn't even mention Zouma by the way (we all know why). If he had been in charge of that defeat, we would have never seen the young players anymore. Would have been sold or loaned out by now, like what he did to De Bruyne and Salah. This is a manager who after all said he needs only 5 minutes (or something like that) to judge whether a young player is good or not. All he cares about is having the team for now and winning straight away. He's not bothered to develop and build a team for the future. It's little wonder that none of the big clubs are going after him like 10-12 years ago - besides his combustible character. Even Wenger was linked with the Bayern job and not him, which must have been a blow to his ego!

A bit ironic to see people happy aren't happy when Deschamps plays Kante but okay when Mancini plays Jorginho...
-
Even though that was a friendly, Brazil and Argentina are arch rivals. They weren't going to play B teams, especially when this international break is their last chance to prepare for their World Cup qualification next March. Hardly the greatest example to use there. Also, it's funny people keep on mentioning not playing for 2 weeks like it's a bad thing when Azpi, for example, has often got those weeks off and still managed to produce solid, consistent performances (at least in previous seasons) in recent years.

It is interesting to see someone has disappeared from here now that Pulisic is doing well.

Toto Wolff wasn't around and Mercedes fell to pieces. They are idiots.

1. Ferrari. 2. Gasly on podium...fair play but LOL. 3. Tweeted this just as the safety car went in... ...and moments later, Hamilton took Albon out!

Italy have already qualified for the Euros. So, it doesn't make sense for Mancini to play him (for the full 90 mins) in dead rubber matches when you consider his workload so far this season. It won't benefit anyone if he picks up an injury due to fatigue. Sitting out of 1-2 games is hardly gonna disrupt anything. It's not 1 or 2 whole months.

Or would you prefer me to call it "pub games"?

Jorginho has sat out of only one cup game - against Grimsby. Was forced to play against United because there were no other options. In total, I believe Jorginho has played 21 games out of 24 for club and country this season. Pretty sure that's more than anyone else in our squad and we won't have the smaller cup games to rest him until the FA Cup starts in January either. It's hardly overthinking when people are concerned over a player's well-being, especially when that someone has played a lot in 4 months.
