Hindsight is a wonderful thing. And the funny thing is, Bulka left us to join PSG and is now the 3rd choice keeper there.

What are you talking about? Pochettino is perfect, he doesn't make mistakes!

The slip by Kante was unfortunate but Lampard is doing his best not to do anything abnormal to upset Kante and the masses, isn't he? Praises Kante when he plays poorly and was cautious with his answer when asked about Kante and midfield options after the Burnley game - 'Gotta be careful with Kante because we know what he brings...' (paraphrasing).

I don't have a problem with James being one of our biggest weapons but I have a problem if James becomes the ONLY weapon in the team, because as I said, our approach of late just seems to be dumping crosses in. You might be right in that the players might not be confident right now but at the end of the day, only they can change the team's fortunes and we need them to. We need them to step up and take responsibility, especially the senior players. With the young players, one can perhaps cut them some slack but not the senior players. It feels like they are hiding behind the 'young team' excuse because no one is owning up to it.

Is it panic or is not enough work being done in training in trying to break defensive teams now? Because the default approach these days just seems to be putting crosses in and hoping something sticks. The fact that James, who is only 20 years old, is talked as the main weapon, the main creator because of his crosses says a lot. I know our squad aren't perfect in terms of quality but where is the combination play, where is the movement of players dragging people around to create space and chances for others, where is the quick passing and movement? If our main play is basically dumping crosses into the box, then we are seriously fucked going forward. In regards to players looking jaded, you gotta wonder if the players are being overworked by Lampard in training because there have been a tad too many muscle injuries or just injuries in general suffered in training this season.

I don't know how reliable the person is because I don't see it reported in other outlets but in any case, it is one thing wanting to sell him, it is another trying to find a buyer. Kepa still has 5.5 years left in his contract and if you take that and his wages into account, he is going to cost a lot and I don't think there are any other big clubs out there in need of a 1st choice keeper. They are certainly not going to spend big money based on his current form. We could sell him on a cheap and take a huge loss but I'm not sure the club are willing to do that. If Nick Pope is seriously one of the early names mentioned as replacement, then the club are idiots and likely haven't done their homework because in terms of the key stats, Pope is the 2nd worst keeper in the Premier League this season, ahead of only Kepa (https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/11913442/kepa-arrizabalagas-chelsea-future-is-he-a-problem-for-frank-lampard). Getting Pope to replace Kepa is like trying to replace Karius with Mignolet, who is only marginally better than Karius but isn't good at all for a top club.

Guess you missed the message there. 😕

Exactly! Similar stupidity shown for their 1st goal!

But technically he’s on loan there no? (coughtonguecoughincoughcheekcough)

Recall Morata.

Less reliance doesn’t mean it’s okay. The striker should be the main source of goals. Abraham has scored only 3 goals in his last 11 PL games.
-
lol He will cost a lot more than paying sacked managers. He’s only 1.5 years into his 7-year contract. SEVEN!
-
Flat is one way of putting it. It’s as though we don’t practice attacking patterns, don’t do something a bit more sophisticated than just dumping crosses into the box. Where’s that bit of creativity? Where’s the ingenuity?
-
It wasn’t a bad contribution but it doesn’t mean it’s acceptable. He will be judged on scoring the goals at the end of the day. When you play for a big club, there’ll always be scrutiny.
-
Yes, they can. What would be the point anyway? They are nearing the end of their contract and would have little motivation. And they have been alienated to the point of no return.

You’re right but that’s a bit like praising Torres for working hard when he did F all in terms of scoring. At the end of the day, Abraham is a striker. He needs to score goals. That’s the reality. I know he’s still young and all that but he has really missed some guilt edge opportunities this season. Yesterday’s first half header and the 1-on-1 against Liverpool at the Bridge come to mind. He’s not the only problem but he’s one of the main problems why we aren’t putting chances away and killing teams off.
