The club's statement... JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!

WHO THE F ASKED FOR A FOOTBALL CIVIL WAR THIS LATE AT NIGHT!?

It does seem like Tuchel has concerns over CHO defensively and hence why James has been playing a lot of the big games recently, particularly at a time when Tuchel seem to be prioritizing defence first and we aren't exactly a free scoring side (yet, hopefully).

Gotta say, when Tuchel was hired, I didn't expect him to set us up to play in a pragmatic way, even if it has been the right decision (for the short term at least). When he was hired, I thought he would set us up play in a more expansive way, set us up to play a football style that is more towards his reputation and what he did at Dortmund etc. Instead, he's been doing everything like an Italian manager, like what I thought Allegri would have done had we hired him.

Do people really think Tuchel will go to Bayern? We all know Tuchel's history when it comes to dealing and falling out with the club's board and Bayern have one that is dominated by several individuals - e.g. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Hasan Salihamidzic. Hansi Flick is quitting because of a rift with their sporting director and people think it won't happen with Tuchel? Granted, it may happen here with Tuchel and Marina but at least he'll only have to deal with one person mainly as opposed to 2-3 other people. And there's also less politics here than at Bayern.

Yeah but the Bundesliga is the Bundesliga and the Premier League is the Premier League. Of course we would like to see Werner translate those numbers in Germany to here in England but it's not always that straightforward, especially when we all have had discussions about him not being a natural goalscorer. I compared Werner with someone like Pedro because (a) he's not an out-an-out #9 and (b) the position that he normally operates in is more similar to someone like Pedro. He's more of a wide forward like the Sons, Manes, Salahs of this world, albeit one of course that still gets chances to score. Most of the players you mentioned are natural #9s and they tend to get more chances to score every game and are more clinical. We were talking about his missed chances. You went in a different direction... And TBH, not really surprised by that considering he was something of a streaky player in the Bundesliga.

Said this before, the more things progress, the more it looks like Werner will be like Pedro for us. Someone who is not the main scorer but the secondary scorer, someone who would get 10-15 goals per season. Off the top of my head, I don't think Werner's misses have come in games that we lost? Think they have come in games that we won? But of course, having someone decisive in the final third might have turned some of those losses to wins.

Oops! You're right. The schedule I saw earlier didn't update it yet. So matchday 37 is on May 18/19, meaning there's nothing but the cup final on that May 15 weekend.

That Leicester game. lol Will be moved to a few days later.

True but the problem is, no one else in the team has been consistent throughout the season either. Mount, who has played comparable minutes to Werner, has been more consistent in terms of performances but his numbers are lower than Werner. Okay, you could argue that one is a striker and the other isn't but the striker is producing more assists (and all from open play) than the attacking midfielder. We can argue all day about the other problems with Werner (don't want to do it again!) but as I said earlier, given it's his first season here and the problems he's had/having, that return is not bad. If he's producing such numbers in a bad season, then imagine what he can produce if he can find himself again and have a good season. So, you're basically saying that people are just piling on him because they see as the main source for goals in the team?

Seems to easier to qualify for the Champions League by actually winning it than trying to finish in the Top 4...

I know every manager wants to their own man (or woman) but said this before, I just don't understand how was Lampard so tactically naive when he played under some of the most pragmatic and best tactical managers in his career - Mourinho, Ancelotti, Hiddink and even Benitez. It's almost as if he learned nothing from them. Lampard had the right idea on how he want to play but the execution side of things was just so bad.
-
3 of Ziyech's 5 goals have been assisted by Werner, which is 1/3 (or 1/4) of his total assists. Am sure when we bought them, we were expecting the assisting and scoring thing to be the other way round...

Tuchel working with Salihamidzic and the rest of the Bayern board? lol

Here's the tricky thing with Kepa... Under Sarri, we weren't defensively bad - certainly not as bad as we were under Lampard - but we still gave away chances and Kepa rarely saved them. He was in the bottom 2 or 3 for saves made in the league, IIRC. Under Lampard, we were horrible defensively and gave away tons of chances but even then, Kepa didn't make too many saves, every shot practically resulted in a goal and he also made some horrendous blunders. Under Tuchel, we're much better defensively and never mind goals conceded, we have rarely given away chances and the keeper isn't called into action much. To give Kepa his due, he did make some good saves against Barnsley, who ironically has given us the most trouble defensively under Tuchel. Otherwise yeah, it's hard to judge where exactly Kepa is right now.

He's now 9th on the list, level with Kerry Dixon on 420. Will finish the season in 8th and potentially 7th next season.
-
But his passing has gone out of the window with Morata...

10 goals 9 assists (12 if you want to include penalties) For someone who hasn't been great this season - in his debut season no less - that is a decent G/A contribution. That's also at least 3 more than anyone else in the team. If he can sort himself out and regain his mojo, one would expect those numbers to be better next season.

Our fixtures look like this now... Apr 20 - Brighton (h) Apr 24 - West Ham (a) Apr 27 - Real Madrid (a) May 1 - Fulham (h) May 5 - Real Madrid (h) May 8 - Man City (a) May 12 - Arsenal (h) May 15 - Leicester/Southampton (n) May 18/19 - Leicester (h) May 23 - Aston Villa (a)

The cup final is on May 15, meaning our league game against err...Leicester will be postponed to a few days later. No break now in the final week. A game every 3-4 days until the end of the season.

Played the tactically perfect game. And the way we approached and played today was night and day compared to that disaster against City in January.
