If you look at the bigger picture, then it's probably not Hazard's fault but as it is, Hazard should be doing his job better especially when he knew Juanfran was there! See my reply to Belgianmutt. And even at that, it's only one person. Hardly enough to consider it as blowing things out of proportion. Oh Ron. Am I faulting him of not doing anything better offensively? All I'm doing is pointing out his mistakes and said of his overall performance as it is.

And that is coming from two fellas after tonight. One is probaby just trolling and the other only said that because of the supposed comments he made. Otherwise, no one is turning Hazard into a scapegoat and blowing out of proportion because of the loss to Atletico.

Cole was at fault but Hazard allowed his FB to scamper past him without even tracking him. You can see that Hazard was looking at Juanfran and knows that he's there but for whatever reason, he let him go when that cross was whipped in. It was poor. Poor from Hazard. Poor from Cole.

Scapegoat? Are people gonna resort to that everytime we criticize a player? Yes, we as a team tonight didn't play well and got deservedly beaten but that should not excuse players off criticism if they made mistakes for the goals conceded like Hazard, Cole and even Eto'o did. It's justified at least if anything and no one is even blowing this out of proportion.

Hazard is not a defender but as a player within the team, he still got a defensive responsibility to do. Everyone does. He played well today? No offence but if you truly 100% meant that, then you must have a pretty low expectation of Hazard. Was hardly anywhere near his best and we only saw bits and pieces of him during the game

After back-to-back home defeats and taking the lead at that(!), am desperately hoping we end our last home game of the season with a bang and of course, keep ourselves still in the title hunt.

Apart from Hazard's own part of the mistake for Atletico's first goal, Cole was pretty poor on his part too. Not sure why he had to go towards the ball and left his area vacated from Juanfran to get into. Had Azpi started at LB to begin with, don't think that goal would have happened.

True and beIN sports are owned by the PSG owners. So, there might well be some agenda going on there. Would still like to know the context in which Hazard was asked the question though.

Made me curious what Mourinho said at HT too. It felt like he lost it as well after the Atletico goal and seem to panic too early with that Eto'o sub. Unlike him really. Was as though Benitez gave the HT team talk! Kinda agree with that TBH. The back 4 and Schwarzer never looked totally comfortable when dealing with crosses. Always seem unsure who should take charge and deal with the situation and while Schwarzer has done alright for us this season, I get scared a bit every time when he gathers a shot from distance. Never seem to grab hold of it firmly and instead let it bounce a little bit in front of him. Though on the other hand, one might argue that this is what happens when we suddenly had to change the back 4 or 5 with the GK. The consistency and understanding are bound to go out of the window and will take awhile for the unit to be familiar with one another.

Oscar was injured apparently according to Mourinho, hence why he didn't play but not sure if he was truthful there personally. As for the Eto'o sub, think the issue with that was he changed it too early. Gary Neville made the point on commentary that he was surprised that Mourinho started to chase the game so early when we could have kept it tight at 1-1 and then do it later on. Then again, we seem like we've lost once Atletico scored. Came out of the second half with a wrong mindset and already looked rattled when we shouldn't be just yet.

Would like to believe that's the case as well (his enthusiasm is infectious) but perhaps it will just take awhile for me to be won over such things. After all, am a grumpy old paranoid cat. Oh that. I'll hold my hands up on that but again, was nothing more than attempt of joke or sarcasm (even if it's true anyway). Not everyone does the same anyway.

Your fitness level can affect the mental side as well. If you are not at 100% in terms of fitness or condition especially for such a big game, then you won't all too comfortable to do the things that needed to be done and able to concentrate properly. Don't want to be critical here but that is only because we hardly did anything else going forward and were poor. We were cautious in the first half and then just aimlessly lump the balls upfront in the second.

Has Schwarzer been jinxed or something? He has kept a clean sheet in all but 3 games he has played for us this season and in those 3 games, it came against sides in red/white kits - twice against Sunderland and now Atletico!

Turns out my paranoia was right to begin with. This may seem like a hindsight comment but should never have started in the first place. Risky to play a not 100% player against this powerful Atletico side and then made 2 big mistakes for the first and third goals.

Quite surprised that he didn't start tonight. Thought he would given he has been rested quite a bit recently and would help to give us some attacking impetus going forward.

Fair result. Beaten by the better side and can't have any complains. Atletico deserved it and hope they win the final now. The disappointment here for us would be that we've come this far and then did ourselves no justice. Team lost it after Atletico's equalizer.
