  1. You could argue that it was the same with Werner in Germany. He missed a lot but it also didn't stop him from going and scoring a lot to make up for those misses.
  2. As some above have been saying, think Werner has qualities to be useful in the team. Just don't think he can be relied on for consistent goals. His goal return would be less of an issue if we have a proper #9 being the main goalscorer.
  3. This isn't to defend Werner or anything and Haaland might well be a better finisher than Werner but I feel like we've all been down this road before, where we get all excited about the shiny toys out there before seeing all that excitement come crashing down when we eventually get the toy. For example, Haaland has scored 25 league goals this season but he has also missed 19 big chances. Last season, Werner scored 28 league goals but missed 21 big chances. And we've seen what happened with Werner this season. Will Haaland be able to maintain a similar goalscoring rate in a team that doesn't create many chances and in a league with teams that don't give many chances?
  4. Not defending Werner's misses because some of them have been bad but it's gotten to the point where if he misses a chance, he will just get lampooned on and nobody bothers to consider the context of the chance. Maybe I am a Werner apologist and/or I have just gone crazy (it's been a shit day personally) but thought he was also a bit unlucky with the chance today. Did nothing wrong with the shot, apart from the picking the target of the net but Courtois made a good save with his foot. And amid all the furore of that miss, I didn't even realize that that incident was in the same move/sequence that led to Pulisic's goal. Had Werner scored his chance, that Pulisic goal might not have happened at all.
  5. You clearly haven't been following the news...
  6. Have you forgotten our game against West Brom and Brighton?
  7. Can't decide if this was a missed opportunity or not because think many would have taken a 1-1 draw before the game but there was the Werner miss and so many poor decisions made in the final third in the first half. Didn't create anything in the second half and the only 2 real chances we had was that Werner one and Pulisic's goal. Need to do more in the final third.
  8. Chelsea 2-0 Fulham PRE/POST-MATCH DISCUSSION, LIVE CHAT AND ANALYSIS 2020/21 Premier League Match 34 1st May, Saturday 2021 Stamford Bridge 17:30 Kick Off (UK time)
  9. That Werner chance...welp! Otherwise, so many poor decisions made with the final pass.
  10. Same XI that started at West Ham starting tonight.
  11. Tuchel said he played 3 CBs at the back against West Ham because of their aerial threat and he put Azpi at RWB because of his experience and that he's the captain. Do Real Madrid possess a big aerial threat? Am sure it's also not lost on Tuchel that Azpi got done several times pace wise when he had to defend against West Ham.
  12. TBF, I don't think Pulisic is someone who says a lot of things in the media. He, after all, has admitted to be an introvert who doesn't like dealing with the public stuff too much.
  13. Let's face it - some teams are already on the beach, like Wolves and Crystal Palace. Could probably throw in Villa and Southampton too, both have been in freefall for months.
  14. Just imagine if we hadn't fucked it up against West Brom and Brighton recently. Could have been virtually safe in the Top 4 already... On another note, each of our remaining game will be so stressful to watch. Every league game is like a cup final. We have the Champions League semi-final. And then, there's the actual cup final itself in the FA Cup.
  15. Was Alonso a failed winger? Think it's because the back 3 was dead for so long that players weren't brought up playing through that system. It was only when Conte came along and started having success with the back 3 that it's become fashionable again.
  16. That's quite a hot take but okay. 🤣
  17. The Bundesliga is really like Serie A. The smaller teams hire and fire the same managers while the better teams play some sort of musical chair with the managers this season. Rose will be going from Gladbach to Dortmund. Hutter from Frankfurt to Gladbach. Now Nagelsmann from Leipzig to Bayern. Will be interesting to see how Nagelsmann fare at Bayern, especially when dealing with their crazy board. Better Nagelsmann to Bayern than Spurs.
  18. Won't be surprised if both Haaland and Kane just stay where they are this summer. Clubs still seem wary of spending BIG while still feeling financial impact caused by the pandemic.
  19. A lot of unknowns there. This is a problem when using the back 3 system. Not a lot of LWB or RWB specialists around.
