He was offside anyway, judging from the replay.

With the games that we have coming up, it's hard to see them getting rested at all.
-
Giroud was already not on the bench last weekend at West Ham.

I mean with the Euros happening this summer, do people really think Tuchel will have a proper pre-season with the entire squad?

Here's the one big difference though, how many players in the past joined a new club and then had to adapt to a new club, league, country while in the middle of a pandemic and a relentless schedule? Not every player is the same and not everyone adapts quickly. Off the top of my head, you have someone like Cancelo looking average in his first season with Man City and now looking like a completely different and better player in his second season. Moreover, Werner isn't the only new signing in the team who have not performed consistently this season. Havertz and Ziyech are other examples. The only mitigating circumstance they have had is injury and COVID, in Havertz's case. The pressure playing for Chelsea is still different from RB Leipzig and Germany. For Leipzig, yeah, they are expected to win most games etc but no one really expects them to challenge for the major trophies and win them. It's like with Leicester here. They are the favorites in most games but if they don't win them, don't win trophies, no one is gonna pile on them compared to us. One loss here, one failure there, we would be hearing for days, weeks etc. Agree with the Germany bit but playing for Germany only happen once every few months. Still different than when you have the world watching you every week etc.

Have people really not thought this out properly? lol

Where does Loftus-Cheek even fit in if it's not 4-3-3?

These media organizations are really hypocrites. They decided to take the moral high ground by boycotting social media when they have contributed to the online abuse for years.

At this point, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the polarizing views that Werner gets. I mean, fair enough that he gets criticized for the misses. However on one hand, you have people who focus only on the misses and abuse him for it but on the other hand, you have people who look beyond the numbers, who can see the other things that he offers to the team. It's all very amusing. Fair enough to say that he needs to be more clinical and do better next season but think the point is the initial period of adaptation. Playing for Chelsea is a completely different thing to playing for Stuttgart or even RB Leipzig.

Not sure how wise it is to play on the counter when the score is 1-1, at least from a psychological point of view.
-
Maybe I am exaggerating this but I'd say Pulisic has already done more for us in the Champions League than Hazard did in during his time here.

If people still want Giroud to start, then I don't think they understand what Tuchel wants from the attacking players at this point. Giroud, unfortunately, just don't have the pace, energy level etc for Tuchel's approach to work. As for Abraham, yes, you could argue that he could have been used more but TBF, (a) Abraham had that ankle injury, (b) Werner hasn't always played as the #9 in Abraham's absence because Havertz and to a certain extent Giroud have played as the #9. In any case, below is a breakdown of Abraham's usage with and without Werner in the starting XI: WITH WERNER IN STARTING XI W 2-0 Burnley * W 1-0 Spurs **** W 2-1 Sheffield United **** W 2-0 Newcastle * D 1-1 Saints * W 1-0 Liverpool ** W 2-0 Everton ** L 2-5 West Brom ** W 1-0 West Ham *** W 1-0 Man City **** W 1-0 Atletico **** W 2-0 Atletico ** W 2-0 Porto **** D 1-1 Real Madrid **** WITHOUT WERNER IN STARTING XI D 0-0 Wolves *** D 0-0 Man United ** D 0-0 Leeds ** W 1-4 Crystal Palace **** D 0-0 Brighton **** W 1-0 Barnsley * W 2-0 Sheffield United ** L 0-1 Porto **** * Started ** Injured *** Came on as a sub **** Unused sub/Not in squad

City doing all of this pretty much without a striker. Makes you wonder...
-
He is 22. Turns 23 later this year.
-
Merely asking questions because there's also someone like Wout Weghorst scoring goals in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg but has not been linked to any big side.
-
Am just naming names because Lukaku has been mentioned and the club are reportedly targeting him. It's either him or Haaland supposedly. If you're going to suggest Bamford, we might as well just keep Abraham. It's one thing to score for Leeds, it's another to score for Chelsea. Plus, it's also only his first season in the Premier League. Can he do it consistently?
-
Here's the tricky thing, how many of us thought the same with Werner last year? Are we sure that Silva will be a guaranteed success? Because I could also point out Werner's numbers over the last few years.
-
Am not that crazy...Jesus fucking christ... I simply meant others because if we want a new ST, then it should be a clear upgrade. Killer made it seem like every Tom, Dick and Harry strikers out there have good movement and score lots of goals. If that was really the case, then the top strikers available wouldn't be only Haaland, Lukaku, Kane etc.
-
Have been asking this, if it's not Haaland, Lukaku or even Kane, who can we realistically get?
-
So, Tuchel played Azpi at RWB for tactical reasons against West Ham and Real Madrid but ended up subbing him off in the second half of each game (probably more down to tiredness than anything).

Confidence isn't exactly like a tap water where you can just switch it on or off, is it? Right now, he needs goals without the missing chances bit in between to screw him up and/or have a Lady Luck smiling over him or something like with Iheanacho at the moment. Had a conversation with someone elsewhere and that person was talking about his goals against Southampton earlier this season. That was an example of what Werner could do at his confident best. Doubt the current Werner would have been able to score those goals now.
