..and another goal tonight, 4 goals in 6 appearances for him.
-
I didn't realise he's quite so tall. Already looks more filled out and robust than say Musonda.
-
Up for Erividsie POTM
-
Having a good match against us so far
-
Admits rumours of Palmer joining him at Birmingham, another goal for him tonight.
-
Good post, although I don't believe Musonda 'knows' Rodgers? Musonda arrived 5 years ago at which point Rodgers was at Swansea

I think there's weight behind the semi serious theory of playing Alonso as a striker. Critically evaluating him, what's he actually good at. Shooting, getting into goalscoring positions, he's ok aerially, and obviously free kicks. Nearly all traditional aspects of a wingback you want Alonso doesn't have. He can't dribble, he's slow, his crossing is poor, he doesn't progress play, he's shit in one on one duels defensively. I think you'd see a greater impact from Alonso in open play if he was more central hovering about the box in a CF position. He already does that when we're struggling for goals.

His record has been poor after a good start but he's still Swansea's leading scorer, which says a lot. I think it's fair to say he may not be ready for us right now (I still think we could do worse than using him as a 'target man' squad option and watching him improve), but he's young, first season in PL, he's already doing better in terms of development than a lot of our youngsters. Maybe needs another loan next season. Haven't seen it on here but annoys me on twitter when people write him off. EDIT: it's also only Jan and a lot f season left. Not beyond realms of possibility he has another run of form and ends the season with double figure goals.

Have to say I miss the likability factor Alonso seems to have with others, due to his well known past mistakes. Moses on other hand, with his story, for me makes him a bit likable. Slightly ironic because I'd say other supporters are less endeared to him.
-
He's 21, margins I know but still
-
Don't watch them for 90 minutes a game like we do. Especially with Alonso who it is easy to rate if you just watch MOTD.
-
I often read very mixed reviews on Kurzawa from people who watch him
-
There's quite a lot of options if we want to get a LWB. At RWB there's a smaller pool of talent.
-
He didn't do much impressive on the ball but allowances can be made. Wouldn't expect him to push up like Luiz/Christensen and be pinging balls at 17. (I think people say 'he's just 17' at anything other than praise for him too much but, as I said, I don't think anyone should expect that unless it's a once in generation talent). Defensively he was good. Literally no mistakes, second half when Swansea increased the pressure I was most impressed. Was winning balls defending from set pieces as well. Midfield performances hyped, but at CB (where he plays for youth team) I can see his potential.
-
Fears alleviated, he looked fine at CB, yellow at the start aside. I think I'm wrong about his height, maybe 5"11? Not as short as 5"9, and didn't struggle aerially, though Bournemouth are a short side. Looks a good prospect as CB, much better than (I feel like I can say it now) pretty underwhelming performances as CM.

Honestly similar, although Ampadu is a couple years younger but on a similar level. ChelseaYoith believed JCS has performed better for U23s this season.
-
Needed. Hope Dujon goes with him (on loan somewhere not necessarily to Forest). Both under utilised this season, and very unlucky with JCS having his loan to Birmingham cancelled on deadline day due to Birmingham injuries (shame on club for leaving it so late). I actually think we should have taken advantage of having him here. Cahill is aging, it would have made sense to kinda experiment with JCS, who's perfectly suited to the LCB position for us, comfortable on the ball, actually left footed. Unlike Ake has height. Just with the view he could become a squad player there for us. Nothing crazy just 2-3 starts in League cup and a few more subs (basically what Ampadu has got).
-
A lot of places say he's 6"0..I think it's a mistake that happens commonly with footballers, especially young ones, and he's listed as an incorrect height. When he first came to Chelsea the reports were that he's 5"9 and watching him play he looks about that tall. https://talksport.com/football/ethan-ampadu-profile-record-breaking-teenager-who-has-signed-premier-league-champions?amp

I actually think he may have a bit of a dilemma. I know he's young but, technically, he's not showing enough to rate him as a future prospect for a top club in midfield. Potentially as an outright DM he could work but that's quite a limiting position, as in for example, it would mean he doesn't really fit in Chelsea's 3-4-3 unless we play 3-5-2. At youth level he plays CB, this position suits him more, but at only 5"9 (and as someone who so far plays middle CB in a 3-4-3) he just really needs a growth spurt to help him reach his potential at the highest level. Yes there have been short, successful defenders in past, but height will help increase his chances of not only being trusted but of just being a good CB, height helps. Within minutes against Huddersfield he was getting targeted aerially with his height.
-
I actually like him. I think we could do a lot worse than Zaha if we wanted to replace one of Pedro/Willian with a young squad player with potential.
-
The player I wanted us to get last summer while being linked with Bakayoko for the most part. Tolisso, Goretzka, other targets I would've preferred. Oh well.
-
This guy is said by many to be the best LB in the Budeskiga by far this season. I believe it's 9 assists and 1 goal already this season, all in the league, his crossing is meant to be insane. He's already 24 though so a bit of a late bloomer. I want to stop making signings like Alonso/Zappacosta/DW where we just get average me twenties players with no scope for improvement for 25-35m.

"and probably not as technically gifted as Willian" no, Willian may be better at dribbling but KDB has mastered drives from the edge of the box, crossing, free kicks, fantastic passing range.
