  1. Yep that seems to be the plan assuming the deal goes through. With Koulibaly and Fofana bought there's no huge need for another one in this window but for next year a Silva replacement will be needed. Koulibaly - Gvardiol - Fofana sounds like one hell of a back three and there's Colwill to come back too. Should be pretty well suite for a back-4 as well with any combination of those players. Still, seems a very risky move to make a year early. He might get a bad injury, or just otherwise have a mediocre season where his value plummets for next year.
  2. Yep. Boehly already showed with Lukaku and Werner that he can be ruthless and take a financial hit to get rid of a flop, though it has to be said it's probably easier to do that when you're not the one who's bought them in the first place. Next we'll just need to see how Boehly does when the player in question is someone he's been involved in buying himself. But either way it makes sense to cut ties with the likes of Bakayoko, Batshuayi etc. if at all possible. It's been clear for a long time there just isn't a market for them to be sold. Marina kept extending their deals in hopes they'll eventually prove good enough somewhere that a buyer can be found but it just very rarely happened. Would need to see the full financial details of the loan deals (percentage of salary paid by the loan club and how big the loan fee was) to be certain of whether Marina's tactic was a good one or not.
  3. https://football-italia.net/bakayoko-could-terminate-Chelsea-contract-and-join-monza-newcastle-or-nottingham-forest/ Rumors in Italy are saying that it would likely be either a free transfer following a contract termination, or a loan deal. If there wasn't a market for Barkley to be sold for a fee, there likely isn't one for Bakayoko either.
  4. Bettinelli, Chalobah, James, Chilwell, RLC, Gallagher, Mount and Sterling are all over 21 years old (cut-off point January 1st 2001 for this season) so they already take the full 8 homegrown spots in the PL squad. That means any further players will need to be registered in the 17 non-HG places whether they'd be eligible for the HG status or not. That means Barkley would take a spot in the non-HG quota if he were registered. I also don't think he'll get paid his full salary for the 22/23 season to terminate the contract but rather the wage difference between his previous salary at Chelsea and his no doubt lower wage somewhere else. It wouldn't make a lot of sense for him to get his full wages from us and then another salary from his new club on top. In that case the club would save at least a little bit of money in getting rid of him now rather than next year when his contract is up. And even if there was enough room in the squad to register him (and there isn't) I don't think he'd get to play because I'm pretty sure the likes of Chukwuemeka and Casadei have been promised some opportunities in the first team in case there's a big injury crisis.
  5. Barkley's not on £200K a week, is he? 😳
  6. If £75M including add-ons is true, at least he won't have been more expensive than Harry the Slabhead. 😂
  7. Golovin played in the Russian PL till he was 22 and only scored 9 and assisted another 9 in 81 games so I think this new guy seems a bigger talent than Golovin was at his best at a much younger age. Golovin was good in the 2018 World Cup so he picked up some hype that maybe wasn't all justified. And from what I've seen and heard he's been decent for Monaco. Clearly not world class nor good enough for the elite clubs but a good player nonetheless.
  8. 11 goals and 15 assists in 47 games in the Russian top division, not bad for a 19yo midfielder. Don't know the player at all but could be a good continuation of the plan to invest in top youth prospects after the signings of Chukwuemeka, Casadei and Slonina already done.
  9. Romano confirming a new bid of £75M including add-ons will be sent for Fofana.
  10. It's definitely not irrelevant, unless the player willingly accepts to cut his wage by 70% give or take a few. Werner cut his wages by around €120K/wk to make the move but is still getting €190K/wk at Leipzig and together with Nkunku is now their highest paid player. Only a couple others are even above the €100K/wk mark for them so committing that much money in Werner's salary for the next four years certainly meant they couldn't possibly pay a huge transfer fee on top. Either Leipzig would have paid a bigger one-off transfer fee and Chelsea would have given Werner a portion of that (a golden handshake) to compensate for the salary decrease, or accept a smaller fee and Leipzig agree a totally new wage package for Werner and we get his costs off the books for good. I think a clean break was the better choice. Getting them to pay 40-50M and a huge salary on top was never going to be realistic, apart from a few elite teams most clubs outside the PL simply don't have that kind of money to spend.
  11. Werner was on £270K/wk wages while Ziyech only earns £100K/wk. That makes a massive difference from the perspective of the buying club and with Werner the fee had to be low because of his ridiculous salary. Ziyech's current wage is probably still a bit much for Ajax but with a small pay cut he'd slot quite nicely among the club's top earners. I'm sure they had to pay a good salary to sign Bergwijn from Spurs too. I think €44M for Ziyech is over the top because for starters he's not been all that great for us and he's also two years older now. Somewhere around €30M would be more than fair IMO, especially seeing as Ajax are about to roll around in money after selling Antony for close to a €100M so they can't exactly say they can't afford to pay the money for Ziyech.
  12. That's a fake Fabrizio Romano account. They'll probably still sign him for around 100M€ but that's not a confirmation.
  13. Looks like a loan to Bayer Leverkusen for CHO. Should be good move for the lad himself, interesting to see how he does in the Bundesliga.
  14. Not the same people who said that to be fair. Really baffles me how someone can think any available manager would do significantly better with this squad than Tuchel. For me he's earned himself enough credit in the bank to continue his squad building and see how it goes. Only thing that would make me change my mind on whether he's the right man for us would be a meltdown like Mourinho 2015 or downing tools like Conte 2018.
  15. Nah I have no interest in 'protecting' Tuchel, I'll criticize him when he deserves it and give him credit when due. Just have zero interest nor time to read posts that just moan and whine about everything without having anything constructive to say.
  16. And also intrigued to hear who he suggests should replace Tuchel since he's so adamant TT should be sacked on the spot. He mentioned Pep, Klopp, Conte and Mourinho. The first two are never in a million years realistic while Conte and Mourinho already had their chances at Chelsea. Would love to hear some ideas who this whiny bitch thinks will take us to the level of City under Pep or Liverpool under Klopp while using this same group of players.
  17. Well seeing as how horribly wrong the Lukaku transfer went and how much of a misfit to the game system he turned out to be, doesn't it make sense to at least try with a different kind of striker rather than double down on the previous mistake and getting another similar type of striker? And that's not me saying I think Auba is an ideal solution but Lukaku or someone similar to him sure as hell isn't either.
  18. Don't forget De Jong to take it to an even 500M. 🤣 Obviously most of them won't happen. Fofana, Auba the priorities for now and I'd guess one more will sign but no idea who.
  19. Rafael Leao links appearing again.
  20. Says a deal for Aubameyang is close at €22+5M and the final agreement between clubs could even come today. £18.6M + £4.2M for those too lazy to convert.
  21. I actually called it a couple weeks ago. We've come full circle now. 😂 Morata is not a bad player, his all-around play is actually quite decent but he's just a terrible goalscorer so clearly not what we need at the moment...
  22. Sangare also just signed a contract extension at PSV a couple weeks ago so probably won't be 'cheap' either. Nor that I think he'd even be an improvement over what we currently have.
  23. Chalobah may have been below par for 2nd part of last season but Maguire has been below par for the better part of his whole 3 year United career. You can't even spell Maguire's name right so it's obvious you have no clue about the player and his performances either.
