I would understand this reaction if we were selling a player like Hazard, Mata, Ramires to a rival club, but it's bleeding Dan Sturridge. A guy who's done well for 6 months with us, but at the same time has been gotten rid of by two top clubs (Us and City) and has an attitude to boot despite not even being a top player.
-
That doesn't give him the right to demand where he played. Apparently Wilkins and Carlo were both trying to get him to play a wider role, but he was insistent on wanting to play centrally. All of the players from Henry to Yorke to Walcott had to do years on the right before getting the role he wanted, and so what that screams of sturridge is arrogance. I have no reason to doubt what Wilkins apparently said seeing as though he actually worked at Chelsea and so would have seen what Sturridge is actually like. It's just not the right attitude to have and the fact that we haven't even worked hard to keep him despite trying very hard to sign him a few years back speaks volumes. You can bring up all of these quotes from the media, but a lot of people put on fronts when speaking to the press so that they don't gain a bad reputation, its just how the world works, not just in football. It's clear Sturridge had a bit of an ego/attitude, maybe before it was just rumours but once I read all of this stuff from Wilkins yesterday then it was abundantly clear
-
I thought he was superb when he came on
-
Apparently Wilkins said on Sky Sports yesterday how Sturridge had an attitude about playing wide and only wanted to play centrally. If he had that attitude behind the scenes then good riddance. In all honesty there are people going on far too greater lengths to defend Sturridge here, in his time at Chelsea he had 5/6 months of proper footballl where he did well. The club clearly don't want to keep him and they see more than us. I'm sure we're not going to regret letting Sturridge go and from what Wilkins apparently said, i'd much rather have players like Moses etc

In a season where we finished 6th in the league and had our worst squad for years
-
Surely he should be in the first team section. Trains with them and is in the squad for the majority of time What a debut anyway
-
Wouldn't even be surprised if we signed Falcao as a way of enticing Pep. Pretty sure Guardiola has sung his praises more than once about how good a player he is. In regards to 'fitting in systems' we have idea if Falcao would fit in a Pep system AT CHELSEA
-
Lukaku is a full international and scoring goals in the PL at the age of 19. What was Sturridge doing at that age?
-
Lukaku has much more potential than Sturridge
-
Debatable, but we'll have to agree to disagree here
-
As a general thing, I don't know why we as fans always start talking about the clubs finances when it comes to transfers. None of us know what the club can afford to spend as details of sponsorship deals etc aren't clear. There's also the issue of contracts and who'll be leaving etc. I'll tell you one thing though, I can guarantee that the club won't EVER sign a player if we can't afford it and will mean we can't play in europe.

So it's looking like 3 players in then CM CF/Winger CF
-
Not doubting his ability, but this is the definition of 'Flavour of the Month'

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-chasing-toughguy-fellaini-8422080.html He's pretty good for Chelsea information. Says Fellaini, Falcao and Walcott are the targets
-
Unbelievable goal. That's why he's called the best striker in the world (Vilanova is the latest manager to say this). Much more than just a poacher as i've said countless amounts of times on this thread
-
Well he is. If your going to improve as a player, then you need to be pushed. The recent games I've seen of Piazon at the lower level has seemed like its been a breeze for him. Obviously playing with player like Hazard etc is going to improve his level, and 9 times out of 10 he is the best player. It's similar to Lukaku last season who was too good for reserve level, it's the same with Piazon. He'd gain much more from going on loan somewhere than playing for the U21s
-
Think the only reason Piazon is still here is because of our small squad size, otherwise he'd be on loan. I watch the youth team regularly and Piazon is clearly better than everyone else on the pitch in most games. Haven't seen him in any next gen games as there's been no coverage, but even after playing games there he's received sparkling reviews in newspapers calling him the 'best player'. He's in a bit of tricky situation as he's too good for that U21 level, but then from what we've seen so far he may not be good enough for first team level (sample size is pretty small in fairness). Will be interesting to see what happens with him in January once reinforcements have been brought in. Would recommend a loan to a championship team like Brighton who are playing good football under Poyet. Maybe even a possible replacement for Zaha at Crystal Palace if he leaves

Guillem Balague said that we had representatives in Madrid this weekend. Hopefully it was for Falcao
-
Honestly. This guy needs to come to England to prove all the doubters wrong and show why he's the best striker on the planet along with Rvp. Have seen some hideous amounts of underrating of him on this thread
-
Key one for me is 1989 minutes compared to 1167 minutes
-
Highest pass completion, most successful tackles. It was a decent game for him in midfield. Definitely encouraged that he can play there, hope he's moulded into that role properly as his passing would be an asset in that deeper position along with his pressing and general energy
-
Liked the look of Oscar in a double pivot. He needs a proper DM next to him, but even still he has the tools to play there Chelsea Statto @ChelseaStatto 6 & 4 - Oscar completed 6 successful tackles & 4 successful dribbles, highest in the game. Wizard. #CFC #Chelsea Chelsea Statto @ChelseaStatto 86% - Oscar completed 86% of his passes, i.e. 44/51, since coming on as a substitute. #CFC #Chelsea

Rami misses the game against Leeds, which is no big loss considering Lamps is back and it's not a premier league game
-
But why make the assumption that we want Falcao just because he's a bigger name. If we are to believe reports, Robbie and Avb have both said that they have want Falcao here. Falcao is one of if not the best striker on the planet. How do we know that Falcao isn't part of the manager vision's of the club? The club clearly aren't just going for the biggest name's either. We've gone out and scouted players like Bony, Altidore, Huntelaar, Taison who aren't big names. The club aren't stupid, we won't buy a player just because there a big name (Before you bring up Torres, Wilkins said himself that Ancelotti had always wanted Torres). It's clear we've been working hard over these past few months to find some potential new strikers and if we end of signing Falcao its because he's been the best fit in the club's view. If anything, the club has matured on the transfer front these past few years. We could have easily just gone a 'splurged' money on players like Hulk in the summer, but we didn't and went for Victor Moses instead. If the club were using this bigger name policy then we would have just signed Maicon instead of someone like Azpi. As I said, if we sign Falcao it'll be because he's the right man, not just 'the name on everybody's lips'
