Joe's being a crafty sod. By waiting till the end of the season he can accept offers from other clubs. Let's say he has a £100,000 a week offer from City on the table. He can then go to Chelsea, show them this offer, and then ask the club to demonstrate how much they want to keep him; ie. match or better the contract offer.

The way the fixtures pan out: Arsenal Due to Tottenham playing Portsmouth in the FA Cup, their game away at White Hart Lane is moved to Wednesday. Should United win and Chelsea do the same on Tuesday, they can find themselves six points off the lead by the time they kick off. They get a week off after playing at the Nou Camp the previous week off and having no league match on the Saturday Chelsea Due to us playing Villa at Wembley, we play Bolton at Stamford Bridge on the Wednesday - and we will be a point behind United if they win. A tough run of fixtures awaits, especially with a third game in seven days coming up on Saturday. Manchester United United kick-off on Saturday at Ewood Park against Blackburn, knowing full-well they've had a massive game in mid-week against Bayern Munchen at Old Trafford. European hangover?

This will be harder than the United game. Villa will have a point to make. They were poor against Bolton and just managed to scrape a 1-0 win, but that's not the point. Its a make-or-break semi final and they will want to avenge that drubbing. I'm going for 2-1 Chelsea, Villa to score first.

Welcome to the TalkChelsea 2009/10 EPL Team of the Year awards! Here, using the relevant voting forms, us members will decide on the best starting eleven from the Premier League this season to fit a standard 4-4-2 formation. Maybe. Won't get near the starting lineup though I don't think, he just doesn't have the experience. He's a certainty to be a starter in a few years though, he's definitely got the potential. I'm not sure either of them will actually go to the World Cup but just going to the training camp will be a massive achievement for them, and possibly aid their development. It'll give them a taste of what they can achieve - and give them an incentive to achieve at Chelsea. Good luck to them.

Very surprised at this, I'd have thought Taiwo, Yakubu or Yobo would have been better captaincy candidates. Good for Mikel, though, it'll help his confidence immensely and possibly improve his game.

Then we get Mikel to filter in as a third CB alongside Terry and Alex. Its a system very similar to what Lyon used to play when Malouda was there, with Abidal, Govou and Malouda on the left.
