I like the look of this team a lot. A lot of pace indeed. Anelka, Drogba and Kalou will have to play well tonight to partner the £50 million man. And Malouda will be dying to come on. How about we win 4-0 with all of our strikers scoring? I'll take that.
I have to admit, whilst I appreciate Roman's business acumen - referring to the fact he wants to be a little more conservative with cash in times of 'recession' - I was a little concerned about his short-term commitment. I never lost faith in his financial ability to back the team, and after yesterday there is no doubt he has got one-over on the City owners, though I did have concerns for the immediate future, namely the rest of this season and the next couple of campaigns. However, those doubts have been eradicated. Roman isn't back. He never went.
EskWeston will probably correct me here (as will people who have watched him at Vitesse), but what I have seen of Matic shows him to be a very physical player; he is not afraid of making challenges. He is quite creative and has the potential to be a great playmaker, but he can be a little lazy at times and can 'go out' of games. But he is still a top youngster.
Gourlay's grimacing, it's like he's saying "You do realise John is bonking your wife as we speak don't you...?" Translates as "Money, dosh, wonga, dollar, dosh, dosh - money, WONGA."
