I've noticed quite recently that the vast majority of topics are being derailed simply because of someone's opinion. What is the point of having a discussion forum if everyone has to adhere to a single viewpoint? The whole point of a forum is to discuss and debate differing opinions. And instead of challenging the argument, people seem only have the ability to attack the user, instantly derailing a thread and provoking intense arguments. For example, in the Ramires thread, The Madrid One posted an opinion and got absolutely lambasted for it. Fair enough he has the persona of being so pretentious when he posts (God-Complex, maybe? He had the audacity to 'grade' someone's argument, how fucking sanctimonious can you get?), but the point is you don't react. You challenge the argument, instead of attacking the user. Remember, however, that xenophobia - or 'counter-trolling' as I've seen someone label it - are equally punitive offences and if people are caught derailing threads because they have been goaded into an argument, appropriate action will be taken. You might think this is another moment of the Staff going all Gestapo on you all. Well, you're right! I'm just living up to my title of Reichsführer-TalkChelsea! But the long and short of it is this: if you want to argue, do it elsewhere, or at least over PM. Argue about football on the forums. Alex.
