  1. I think the players City may consider as dispensable would be more attractive to Spurs. I think it would be more dependent on if they'd be willing to leave City for Spurs. Which players could we realistically consider packaging up that would be attractive to Spurs in a deal? Tammy and Zouma are the two that really spring to mind, maybe Ziyech or Hudson Odoi.
  2. Not sure how true this really is. Maybe they're not keen on it, but it certainly isn't a deal breaker to stop a move. We brought Matic back for big money after letting him go and it's widely reported we wanted Lukaku back before he went to United.
  3. What did you make of Chilwell's performance? I know recently you've been quite critical of him and felt we should look to replace him. I personally thought he was excellent defensively against Mahrez. He got caught the one time off Walker's pace the whole game but besides that I don't think he put a foot wrong on the defensive side of his game which has come on significantly as the season has progressed (particularly under Tuchel). His block early on at 0-0 was arguably as good as Rudiger's and the ground he had to make up to make that block was impressive given his starting point. I still think there are areas in his attacking game which need improvement, especially in a wing back role. Although I do think he's capable, he just needs to be more confident in his application at times. That seemed more apparent on Saturday, he seemed to be looking to release the ball a lot quicker to Mount and Werner and his one touch lay off to Mount for the goal again went largely unnoticed but was what actually took Walker out of the game and was the first piece of the play to stretch City's defence.
  4. City didn't create anything as clear as the two Werner chances early on (especially the second one) and the Pulisic chance. Like you said they had half or nearly chances but were thwarted consistently by blocks and great defending before they could even reach the goal. All 3 centre backs and both wing backs made some fantastic blocks and tackles to prevent what could have been great chances but ultimately they snuffed it out before it became a chance compared to City who failed to do the same. Before the Mahrez shot in the last minute (which was hopeful more than anything) I genuinely can't remember anything else in the game. Was their one shot on target that Mahrez mis-hit cross?
  5. I do think Ziyech offers a different skillset to the rest of our attackers which can be extremely useful at times. I think particularly against some of the teams that will look to sit in deep against us, his eye for a pass and willingness to take a shot around the edge of the area could still come in very handy next season. As a rotation option I've got no issues with him staying. He's hardly set the world alight but you have to believe like Werner and Havertz, there's more to come from him. If he wants to leave or is a bargaining chip for a key target then fair enough, but I wouldn't look at him in the same way as Drinkwater or Bakayoko and think there's absolutely no chance of him being good enough to make a success of himself here.
  6. I mean the gap to the team at the top. You're right this season we've closed the gap on Liverpool but essentially we're not really any closer to the title than we were the year before when we're that far behind, so it's difficult to argue there was any progress this season with regards to our league form. I don't want us holding on to 4th place going into the last game of the season again. There has to be progress with regards to being closer to the top of the league. My hope is that even if we finish a few points off top spot next season, progress will be identified by the club and more time will be given to Tuchel.
  7. Hopefully it's not a case of too much, too soon because it'll still be some effort next season to make that gap up on City and overtake them to win the league. If we improve and are 5-10 points behind them next season is that enough to keep faith in him that we're moving in the right direction under his guidance? I hope so. I think for me, in order to overtake Jose it's not so much the number of Premier League titles (although he obviously needs to add to this Champions League trophy with more success), but it's building that young core that we do have at the club into a group, and marry that with some superb signings that can together hopefully bring sustained success to the club even after his reign. Even the 2012 win still had a core of Jose's players in it and his blueprint in the approach. I think Tuchel needs 2 - 3 years here to really put his stamp on this group and to be able to add to the Champions League with some more trophies.
  8. Champions League. Enjoyed it so much the first time we went back and completed it again.
  9. I know our schedule is fixed to be even more congested than usual with the World Club Cup added in, but are we scheduled to see the Premier League giving teams a bit of a mini break again mid season? If this is a plan (as I assume the calendar next season will resort back to what it usually is) then it would be common sense for them to try and implement this break in early/mid January to limit the impact of the AFCON on teams.
  10. I'm struggling to decide what I think we should do with our attacking options. For me Havertz looks like his best position is that false 9. It suits his game to drift and find space, he's shown a huge willingness and improvement to press from the front in recent months and his size and technique make him a perfect foil for the other attackers, whilst still have the pace himself to hurt teams. He's had two real stand out games now in the second leg against Madrid, and then last night's final playing that role pretty much perfectly. I do expect him to kick on next season, full of confidence after this and especially if he can stay fit as I think he'll play regularly. How much of that goal scoring void he can fill though I'm not sure. I think he's capable of chipping in 12 - 15 goals in the league and maybe pushing up towards around 20 in all competitions. I've mentioned previously that a realistic increase in goals from all of the front players could put us in a position where we don't need a 20+ goal scorer and instead become a bigger danger because we're not so reliant on one player. If Havertz and Werner could get 12 - 15 goals and Ziyech, Mount and Pulisic could all chip in with 8 - 10 we'd be in a position I believe to challenge for the title. We'd also then have more flexibility in attacking targets as Tuchel can look at another option which maybe fits the dynamic better but can complement the group with similar goal numbers to above (maybe someone like Sancho). Compared to say someone like Lukaku who will score goals but would it be to the overall detriment of the team if his all round play doesn't suit?
  11. Probably should just give up the ghost, I'm not sleeping tonight!
  12. I thought our fans came up big tonight. Early on when City were trying to assert dominance, every time we broke it down there was a huge roar and watching on TV it felt like it was only Chelsea fans you could hear pretty much throughout the game.
  13. I think if France have a good Euro's or even go and win it with Kante in the midfield, and Chelsea start next season well there's a genuine possibility he could be in the frame for the Balon D'or in my opinion.
  14. Forget a new contract Tuchel deserves a statue for the turnaround he's managed this season. Whilst 2012 was the end of an era, this time it feels it could be just the beginning.
  15. This club will one day be the death of me...and I wouldn't have it any other way!
  16. 2 keepers seems overkill unless tuchel wants him there for pens? I understand its no different all season but just seems strange we could have another attacking player on the bench as an option if chasing the game.
  17. City didn't play a Premier league match all season where at least one of fernandinho or rodri didn't start. It's a very bold move, they could end up completely blitzing us but hopefully this is one of those times Pep has overthought things to his teams detriment.
  18. City's 6 'attackers' look a scary prospect. However I'm surprised that fernandinho or rodri isn't playing. There's no defensive minded player in that midfield and if we can get hold of the ball and beat their press there could be spaces and gaps in there to exploit.
  19. Did Seedorf do it at some stage?
  20. I believe we knocked them out the next season en route to winning it ourselves?
  21. I have a feeling Christensen and Azpi may start on the right side with James to come on later in the game if we're trying to find a goal.
  22. I think it'll be Jorginho over Kovacic. Whilst Jorginho isn't as mobile or physically imposing as Kova, he's far more disciplined defensively in his role in midfield which will allow Kante freedom to roam.
  23. I think a large part is the mentality of Tuchel. Lampard in particular, but also Sarri would regularly downplay the squad and their current level and ability to compete. Tuchel came in and immediately said this squad was good enough to compete. It put pressure on himself, but it was a massive decision to install confidence into this squad that they are good enough to compete. Ultimately we need to get over the line and win a trophy, hopefully the big one tomorrow, as there has been quite a big turnover of players since we won the Europa League. A number of these players need that first trophy and I think that will be an important building block for more to follow. However if we don't manage to win tomorrow, we still will have reached 3 finals in 2 seasons. It at least shows we're on the cusp, and haven't completely fallen away. I think it's a huge summer and a season starting with Tuchel for next year to really kick on.
  24. People have questioned the mentality of this group and coping with pressure after losing the cup final and making a meal out of our league run in. However two games which were massive pressure games were the second leg against Real Madrid and the league game against Leicester which I think considering the circumstances of both games were possibly our best two games this season. If we play like we did in either of those games (the mistake for Leicester's goal aside) then I do believe we have a good chance tomorrow. We may not need to play the perfect game to win, but everyone will need to play to the top end of their capabilities.
