http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-transfers-hulk-35million-target-1933650 Being linked to making a move for him at £35m. Article also mentions whether or not Terry will stay.

Sky Sports are saying the 'fee' is £34m. I cannot believe Fernandinho's wages would be just £12m over the course of his contract, as Shakhtar wouldn't have paid him peanuts. £34m does sound realistic. His buyout clause is £42.5m, Shakhtar are under no pressure to sell, and we know from trying to negotiate for Willian that they don't sell cheap and are hard negotiators.

I'm not quite sure what to make of the Fernandinho to City deal. I can only pass comment on watching him only a few times playing for Shakhtar in the Champions League and he has looked good. However it strikes me as odd that he hasn't left Shakhtar earlier and moved on to a bigger league. The Ukranian league isn't the greatest, so are City buying him based on his impressive performances this year in the Champions League? No doubt he was excellent against us, but it is widely accepted our midfield has been pitifully dominated this season by much worse teams and players, and that is what makes me sceptical about Fernandinho. That, and at 28, he only has 5 Brazil caps, whilst with the greatest respect Brazil don't have the best current central midfield pool in their history. I'm not saying he's rubbish, I think he will improve City, but £34m is ludicrous for a player that has no great re-sale value in a couple of years and has never been tested in a top league. There is huge pressure on him to hit the ground running. City are doing very much what we did a few years ago, buying 'quick fix' established stars. Ironically I think we're now in a position where we could benefit from one or two signings this summer who are in their late 20's to add to our younger talent. But I would not be paying £34m for anybody within that bracket!

I don't know what it is about Hulk but I would love him here. Power and pace, a direct and more natural fit on the right hand side and a genuine goalscoring threat. He offers arguably a greater long range goal threat than Lampard and such a threat will scare the shit out of teams sitting back and letting us play in front of them. That in turn will force opponents to step out at times to close down and with the likes of Mata, Oscar and Hazard to make the most of such gaps it gives us a completely alternative option.
-
I haven't seen much of him, but I thought he was decent but not great in the Europa final and similar when he was with us. If we were talking £15m then I wouldn't mind but £30m sounds stupid. We wouldn't be far out being able to sign Marchisio or Gundogan for that amount who are both far better players. For a start I don't think Matic would be any better than Romeu, and secondly we have a lot of young talent coming through, alongside Ramires and Mikel in their mid twenties. I would like someone in their late 20's who is perhaps in the prime of their career and can offer some experience behind our young, dynamic attack. Fernandinho or De Rossi would be my choice if possible for a midfield enforcer.
-
Would love some sort of deal involving Torres (if only he took the hint!). To be honest if we brought Jovetic and Schurlle, alongside recalling Lukaku, and managed to sell Torres and Marin, we would have improved our attack multiple times over and not spent shit loads in doing so. Moses, Oscar, Hazard, Mata, Schurlle, Jovetic, Ba and Lukaku vying for those front four places would give us a blend of raw pace and dynamism, pure creativity and brute strength. The options and versatility would be immense and with the exception of Ba all would be 25 or younger!
-
Luiz doesn't need to be sold. But I do understand people thinking £35m would be a good offer for him. For me if Jose brings back De Bruyne and Lukaku, we only realistically need a backup GK, centre back depending on Terry's future and fitness, centre midfielder and striker cum attacker. We don't need sweeping changes just a couple of important additions.

Leaving on June 1 goes in hand with rumours we will announce our new manager 2 June...

Would love this to happen, and a proper Mourinho signing. I think we're a midfielder and striker at their peak away from dominating again. I said in a previous thread if we buy Rooney and De Rossi (combined potentially a lot cheaper than Cavani or Falcao on their own) alongside a couple of young talents and possibly a couple out on loan coming back and that will be an excellent summer.
-
One or two young signings and one or two players in their mid/late 20's would be the best way to go this summer. We're really not that far away IMO. Shaw and Schurlle as the young signings and Rooney and De Rossi as the established names would be ideal.

We as Chelsea fans have known for a long time now just how lucky we were to have Mourinho. This season I think he's finally realised just how lucky he was to have Chelsea. I can't help but feel optimistic at Jose coming home. He'll come in with a massive point to prove, hugely motivated and with the talent we have in the squad I believe he can achieve a lot more than he did in his first stint with us.

When you're buying you can amortise the transfer fee over the length of a players contract, hence the likes of Hazard and Oscar's fees over 5 years. However when you sell players you are able to recognise the transfer fee immediately in that current period...welcome to the murky world of football finances! A couple of points to make on that: You also have to take into account that we would still be amortising the likes of Torres and Mata's contracts as well. There were a lot of commercial deals done after our Champions League win which I believe were rather lucrative. These wouldn't have been accounted for in last year's accounts where we made a profit.Because of amortising over the length of contracts, the transfer fee's are not as bad as people think. The biggest killer is wages and we have taken steps over the last couple of seasons to bring our wage bill down replacing older high earners with younger lower earners. Factor in the likes of Ferreira, Benayoun and Malouda definitely going to go; the likes of Terry, Torres and Essien's futures uncertain and Lampard reportedly taking a pay cut and we'll have a good degree of flexibility next season with a lower wage bill.

Fully deserved by Mata. It's not usual that you'll get the fans and players both pick the same player. The fans will always lean towards picking up an exciting, attacking talent, whereas the players will always appreciate someone who puts in the work that doesn't get the headlines (the likes of Ramires and Makelele). However it is clear this year that Mata has taken the team by the scruff of the neck at times and carried us over the line. Winning goals away at Spurs, Arsenal and United is not to be undervalued! Hazard has given the team an explosive edge to it's game which I think will push us on to the next level next season. I also believe that he will develop into one of the best players in the world and most natural, skilful talents ever to play for the club. However, there was a chunk midway through the season where Hazard (understandably) struggled. Mata on the other hand, has been our most consistent threat throughout the season and is certainly deserved winner of both awards. At this moment in time he's our best player and this simply supports such an argument.
-
Hazard vs Sparta should be on the list too.
-
Because in the past I believe Chelsea's young player of the year has always been a youth player from the academy. If this is the case it should be ake as he has made the first team this year. If the award includes first team players then if course Hazard and Oscar are front runners.
-
Mata and Hazard have to be favourites. Cech may be a good shout though for player's player of the year. Ake young player of the year. What are the nominations for goal of the year?

I still think he might feature. It's the perfect opportunity for Rafa to play some mind games, Jose did it enough! If he didn't have a decent chance of being fit he wouldn't have travelled.

I think the biggest difference with Rooney compared to Torres and Shevchenko is he isn't just a goalscoring striker like the other two. If Rooney isn't scoring, he is still capable of playing effectively by creating chances, or even by playing deeper behind another striker. His versatility is greatly undervalued.
-
Similar to Moyes, the fact that all media around Europe (in this circumstance particularly England and Spain) and the betting odds strongly indicate Pelligrini to Man City and Mourinho to us is a good sign. All the media outlets seem to be in agreement which is a very good thing. I cannot see any other outcome now. Also remember City are now being run by the two ex-Barca directors - I cannot see them getting along with Mourinho.
-
I think there are a lot of factors behind Rooney's transfer request that are not money related: Losing his automatic place in the first team at United this season.Ferguson retiring - His potentially 'peak' years could be spent at a team set for a huge transitional period.Moyes - what is their relationship really like? (I know Fergie retiring and Moyes being hired have happened since he asked to leave but they could increase his determination to leave)Chelsea desperately need a striker. The potential chance to work with Mourinho. The opportunity to work with Chelsea's young attacking midfielders. I think this has been understated. How many times before have we seen Rooney frustrated at United and England when other players aren't on his wavelength. I think he can genuinely see the exciting potential of our team and the opportunity to play with some of the most technically gifted players in the Premiership. I think he is taking the opinion that Chelsea will be more successful over the next few seasons than United.
-
Wouldn't be surprised to see Baines and Fellaini follow Moyes to United.
-
I will be hugely pissed if after all this intense speculation, Jose ends up at United. One would hope that his past history of job longevity puts him out of the running. With David Moyes' contract running out at the end of this season, he would seem the natural choice...hopefully. If we manage to pull off bringing Jose in and United lost Fergie, we will have a massive chance for the title next year.
