Sorry, had posted that reply before I had seen your post. And i see your point. 'Lottery' is perhaps not the best description because there is something you can do to improve your odds for a shootout. That being said, losing on penalties is still a harsh way to go. And the article is too harsh considering that it was two penalty loss defeats that denied us trophies this year, when we could have easily won either of those in normal time. Maybe they Pool did their diligence in preparing for everything. But to put them on a pedestal while putting us down simultaneously is outrageous. The article is generic nonsense.
-
Also, I hope this is the last time we AVOID wearing Blue in a cup final. IMO this superstitious attitude put us on the back foot especially when facing a gritty side like Pool. When the penalty shootout came, it showed. Allison gathering up the ball to give it to each of our players walking up, while Mendy walking in with his head down.
-
Wouldn't read much into it. They printed this garbage just minutes after the final whistle. Means that this was prepared to publish based on the result. If we had won they would have printed something else. It looks even more dumb because we didn't exactly lose. We just missed the penalty shoot out lottery.
-
2 penalty shootouts in a row. 3rd FA cup final in a row. Problem of not having a big game player like Drogba The closest thing we have is Havertz and he too blows hot and cold.
-
Just fuck off. Had to endure 120 mins of biased BBC commentary and Mount go through hurt again in the penalty shootout. Honestly would have preferred Mane to score it than see Mount miss. The kid does not deserve to go through that.
-
This. I'd rather he just play an extra CB if he's worried about Azpilicueta getting caught out of position. Keeping James pegged back in CB would just nullify our attacking threat down the right.
-
Imagine if he finally gets his 'big game' goal.
-
And no European football.
-
Is that the highest contribution by a Chelsea player in a single season since Hazard?
-
I wonder who was in charge of these renegotiations. Especially after offering Lukaku that ridiculous amount
-
Agreed. It's already an ugly trend in the making. Need to do more to tie down players and present them with attractive cause for them to stay.
-
More hungry for things too, I would assume
-
Agrees. Needs to be someone with a good amount of pace too. That was one of Rudigers strengths IMO. Ability to recover. Rüdigers character can never be replaced, but that's where I'm looking to our homegrown players to step in and step up.
-
Apparently has signed the Real Madrid contract. 315k pw. 410 mill release clause. That last one feels like a slap in the face. As if to show us the true worth of the player. Love Rudiger, but tempted to see Madrid make a fool of themselves again.
-
Leeds at the edge of the relegation zone with 3 games to go. And they face us at home. Couldn't make this up.
-
Sigh. Why now.
-
It's a catch 22. Players like Azpi and Rudiger will have their eye only on the final. The problem is that their replacements (apart from Chalobah) are absolutely dire. We are in trouble. It would take a strong attacking performance for us to not drop points. I don't see us keeping a clean sheet.
-
So Leeds lose against Arsenal, with a red card and a hopeless performance. I wonder what their form will be like on Wednesday. Tuchel has got to drop players like Azpi, and play someone who is going to be around next season (minus Saar) in the back line. Rudiger should also be dropped on thar account, but unfortunately even in his current state, there is no one better to fill his shoes. Play Ziyech in RWB. If we win this game, this will put huge pressure on both Spurs and Arsenal in their derby match.
-
Too many red club journos around. Also the bias against London clubs in general.
-
Just read that Tuchel complained about them overcomitting attackers needlessly. I had questions about the tactics when we were 2-0 up. What a bunch of assholes. Just chasing personal glory without giving a shit about the club. Disappointed that someone like Azpilicueta would just charge up the pitch carelessly. Head in Barca. And Saar. Supposed to come in and shore up the defense. Completely shies away from blocking the cross that led to the equalizer.
-
Can't believe I'm saying this. But am glad that Lukaku found his shooting boots again. Because it doesn't like we are otherwise capable of scoring.
-
More fear mongering Gutter press.
-
Geez...none of these guys care. I know its stating the obvious, but at least give a shit for a couple of games. Now that Abramovich is gone and there is no PL title to fight for, things seem less appealing. Granted everyone is entitled to move to the club of their choice, but at least have a modicum of respect for the manager who gave you your first CL title. Ungrateful. Unprofessional. Time for Tuchel to build a new core. This one with academy players, and the returning Connor Gallagher
-
Probably like Giroud last year. Renewed with a 1 year contract. Left with a fee.
-
And at least make an attempt to re negotiate with Rudiger. No harm, IMO
