Some one on another forum compared him to Dennis Rodman from the old Chicago Bulls After seeing his antics in the penalty box with him grinning after the penalty, I can see why. He is a handful like Rodman, lol. Just in your face every time.(sometimes literally)
-
Claudinho looked a decent player. Any chance we might be linked with him in the future?
-
Need to plug the defense. 7 goals in the last 3 games., and you can bet teams like Leeds will be sniffing blood. Hope at least one of Kante/Jorgi is fit. No James in midfield. No Saul.
-
Glen Hoddle said it best. James, unlike Kova/Jorgi/Kante fails to drop back into that pocket in front of the back four when we advance. His positioning was poor. Hopefully the last time we'll see him in a midfield role. Had to laugh at Ferdinand and Owen comparing him to Michael Essien. Seriously, WTF.
-
Should have used the 5th sub and brought on one more defender just to close out the game. Tuchel normally does that when protecting slender leads. Not sure why we never shored up the back. Anyway....I don't think Real or Bayern would be too happy about drawing us either. Personally don't want Real. They will probably be in 'revenge' mode because of last season.
-
Agreed. Not going to beat down a player as long as he takes some effort. In this case I hope at least Tuchel or Romelu himself takes some effort to adjust his game.
-
Home game itself was tough against these lot. If James is fit, would start him. And maybe rotate in Azpi if we want to keep Silva fresh. Would still prefer an attacking option on LWB, so CHO has to play that position imo. Unless Tuchel wants to give Saul a new lease of life there. RLC in CM, and maybe Mount/Barkley partnering. Front 3 is anyone's guess. Maybe Tuchel will look to use this game to get Lukaku's match sharpness up,..might as well., since you know he's going to make him start a game soon.
-
Yeah true, the game (at least the one played by the top teams atm) is favoring more all-rounded players up front. Players that can control the ball, link up play and also put in a shift defensively. Prime Eto'o would have been a shoe-in for this team.
-
I think the the proof of the pudding lay in Conte's recent comments that Chelsea are not using Lukaku right. Ergo, Lukaku doesn't fit our style of play. I don't see why we would have to change our style of play to accommodate one player. He should adapt to our style or else stay on the bench. Not holding my breath. 6 months nearly, and he rarely wins the first ball., either in the air or on the ground.

Bunley and United are the most disappointing. Because those were at home. Freak away games like West Ham can happen now and again.
-
He's anyway leaving for a month in Jan. Don't want him out of the squad needlessly before that. Shit happens. Allison has goofed up even worse at Liverpool. Never saw Klopp take him out of the firing line.
-
Oh no doubt about it. Dropped points in needlessly in at least 3 games so far.
-
Literally a few weeks ago, Liverpool were outside the top 4 and behind West Ham. Are we seriously going to draw conclusions when the top 3 teams are literally within 2 points of each other???
-
Not pour water on his accomplishments., but today's win was a fluke. Just like their 3rd goal. .
-
yeah, that's what I mentioned in my first point. But even if he wasn't scoring, he was still a nuisance for the opposition.
-
Sigh,...the next PL game can't come soon enough. Hate it when we have to wait in order to wipe off the taste of a bad game. Would rather have lost to Watford rather than to fucking West Ham. At least Watford would have earned it.
-
Drogba had his off-seasons...certainly in terms of scoring. But that never stopped him from being a good team player for the likes of Lampard. And when he was scoring form (looking at the 2 golden boot seasons) he was just great.
-
Maybe that's the reason....should go for less big-name strikers who are under less pressure to deliver. Drogba, Costa..et al But seriously a lot of members here smelled trouble when we were linked with Lukaku. Apart from the Arsenal game, have not seen an instance where he feels like he belongs.
-
Liked your post mainly out of nostalgia. Will never say no to Hazard returning, even if it was just to sit on the bench and crack jokes.
-
At least we one the first game in December too, lol.
-
Yeah Lukaku's influence on pattern of play was more worrisome for me. Probably not entirely his fault, but boy it doesn't look like he gels with the rest of the team. Neither he nor them seem to be able to play to each other's strengths
-
It happens I guess. Mendy was just poor this game. Partially if not fully at fault for all the West Ham goals.
-
I don't know about every week. But you have to admit that games like this one, Brentford away and Pool away show that this side is made of stronger stuff. Especially this one, considering we were largely second best and playing with a depleted squad.
-
Would add Mount, and also maybe Silva (defense were like 6s and 7s until he came on).
-
He was poor defensively, even by Alonso standards. But you have to admit., his first touches for both goals were exceptional. Especially that bit of control for the first goal. In a period when we were on the backfoot and struggling to beat their press, that was crucial.
