A new name to the Chelsea watch list, but a relevant one nonetheless. The American-born striker has plied his trade for Villareal since 2007 and been their star ever since. However, with the club facing more financial peril, they could be forced to sell off their biggest asset to generate some cash. Rossi would be an excellent addition to the club, bringing the pace and fervor the fans seem to call for. He also has Premier League experience, spending two years with Manchester United, where he had four goals and four assists in 14 matches. The rate for the 25-year-old has been set at €20 million, but it could ascend, as both AC Milan and Juventus are interested in him.

Abramovich has always favored dishing out to bring in some of the game’s best African players, and he may do so again with Tiote. The Ivorian midfielder would find himself at home with fellow countrymen Drogba and Solomon Kalou and also provide some depth to a depleted center third. He has been an exceptional player for Newcastle this season, and his rate of £67,000 per week makes him one of the team’s highest paid players. However, Abramovich would have little trouble increasing that on team where the bench averages that sum. Reports are that the Blues will be looking to offer Toon in the neighborhood of £20 million for the 25-year-old. That and the prospect of European football could be enough to entice him to force the move.

The Sengal international has bettered any Chelsea player with 16 goals in the league, and at 26 years old, offers a potential replacement to the ever-aging Didier Drogba. Ba has been rumored to be around a value of £7 million, a bargain considering his pure poaching abilities. Chelsea are in desperate need of a forward who can simply find the net. However, Ba has dismissed any intentions of leaving Tyneside: "I am happy with Newcastle, and I enjoy being here and playing for the Toon Army. I enjoy being on this team." While Ba may be saying all the right things now, it could be difficult to ignore the kind of money that could be coming his way in a move to the south. It also could be Chelsea’s best bargain given the immediate need they have for a goal scorer.

He has developed into one of Ligue 1 top players, and at only 21 years old, taking Lille back to the top of French football. Chelsea are rumored to be in direct competition for the player with the very same team they are battling out for fourth place, Spurs. With a £34 million release clause, Chelsea holds the slight advantage in terms of finances, as Tottenham has never been a big-spending club. But it may come down to which team will qualify for Europe next year. As it stands now, Lille is comfortably placed in the last Champions League spot in France, making it all the more important Chelsea finish fourth or better.

Following the first leg of Napoli’s Champions League tie against Chelsea, Cavani probably felt that the idea of leaving the Italian club for his opponents was absurd. But after being silenced in one of the biggest comebacks in Champions League history, he could be rethinking that thought. According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea are ready to launch a bid for the striker who has been valued at roughly £30 million. A steep price, but not out of the realm of possibility for the loose wallet of Roman Abramovich. Right now, neither club is going to be in Europe’s top competition next year, but Napoli is a bit closer to that spot. Should neither make it, though, there is a good chance he will take the money and glory that comes with playing in the EPL.
