Official Stadium Plan Announcement Soon?
changingman2000 replied to DavidEU's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Absolutely spot on, if they even tried it with the MHL for a start, it would make such a difference. I personally would love to have a standing area back at the Bridge. Also, it seems to me that we have enough problems selling out the Bridge with its current capacity anyway, only just making it against Rottenham at home, Inmy mind, if its pushed up to 55,000 or so will only mean more gaps on show, sure well sell out against Man Ure and the huge European nights, but Derby at home? -
Indeed, through the murky 70's we slowly trampled and into the 80's and a new fashion, "You cant ban a Chelsea fan" t-shirts. which were on evident display after "events" at Wolves, Derby and Charlton (amongst others). You see, so our younger members can understand, some 20 years ago, Chelsea fans had such a reputation that those impudent mp's decided to ban us from EVERY away ground for an entrie season no less!, not that it stopped us you understand, Just made things a tad trickier. Then, in the late 80's, they came up with yet another novel idea to clamp down on the "rowdier" of our support , They closed the terracing for the first 6 games of the 88/89 season, and made it all ticket for the East and West Stands, and even then you couldnt buy them on the day, you had to come down the Bridge and get your brief in the days before the game you decided to go to, which mean crowds of 8,000 or so/ Away fans were also banned from coming to the Bridge for those first 6 games too. Very harsh indeed, and on top of that, we had to cope with Joe McLaughlin marshalling the defence

ah the salad riot, which elclipsed both the cable street and notting hill riots for its sheer violence. Great days indeed. Never has a celery stick been used to such dramatic effect

Over the new year period, had a wee group of neds roaming round my street, first time I'd seen them around my patch. they starting banging on a couple of doors (not mine) and , at first, I put it down to horseplay and left them to it, Two doors down there's an old dear who is in her 80's and lives on her own, she went out and gave them dogs abuse "Seeyouyaweebastards, gettaefuckawayfaemadoororamcallinthepolis" I went out and told them to fuck off but they gave me a wee bit of lip so I done the right thing, I called the OB and said that they were giving the old dear grief and if it carried on then I'd sort them out myself if the OB werent willing to attend. Girl on the other end of the phone said that it didnt sound like an emergency incident so there wouldnt be anyone to attend for a while so I done what I should have done instead of phoning the OB......I went into my tool box, took out my claw hammer, walked out the front door and screamed at the top of my facking voice "COMEONTHENYAWEEBASTARDS"......they promptly dispersed and, as yet, have never returned. ...and old Nancy bought me a half bottle of whisky, nice!

The cheek of it........He's much older than that

Ah Yes, That fateful first leg at the Old Den was indeed a colourful occasion, except the only colours on show seemed to be black and blue. And you are of course correct, "Old William" did indeed decide that this was the time to make a stand against the war time war mongerers of Chelsea and Millwall......except they didnt do much standing that day as I recall. The footie on show that day was more of an afterthought to what was occuring on those famous hills of Souf East London that day. Hingis, I dearly hope your paying attention young man.............as I'll be asking questions later
-
Ah yes, the "Flying Scotsman" crew, a legend in their own tea time. A fore runner for the less than infamous "service crew". Of course the Flat Cap hunters were indeed the stuff of legend, History has it noted that scousers, manc, mackems, geordies and Bummies were repelled by these vicious young pups of yester year, each time they attempted to attend footie at Fortress Stamford Bridge. Only a couple of years later was war was declared, which gave "Old William" some welcome respite from the "F C H". Only for disaster to fall from the most strangest of sources - The War Cup. And a final between Chelsea and those turnpikes from the deep souf, Millwall. a game which seen droves of young men desert the front lines of France and Holland, to attend a front line of far more significance.........

Their chairman has came out and said that, above all, the priority is for the team to play stylish football with panache, so why are they chasing Houllier?, wasn't he long ball at the scousers?, and very much counter attack. Which is why it never suited Owen in the end. Now their saying Deschamps is favourite, shame, I would have settled for him here any day of the week

The truth is mate, they call us a "small" club because they think it riles us basically. In short, If the master thieves, man ure or the arse had been through the ups and downs that Chelsea had endured then they would obviously be in the same boat as us. However, considering our somewhat "colourful" past, I think we still hold the record for the highest ever attendance in England, around 82,000 against the arse in the 30's I believe. wasnt there myself but mr Fulham Broadway told me that it was a right cunt to try and get a pee that day. Sad thing is nowadays, that the old boys have been distanced from the club by High ticket prices, all seater stadiums and stupid fuckwit things like the ban on celery, In other words, taking the heart right out of the club. nowadays, we have what should be classed as a world beating team, but we struggle to sell out against the handbrakes at home, sad really. A lots been made from other clubs about our crap attendances in the past, 7000 against Southampton, carlisle, etc, THis was due to the club being at its lowest ebb, Or, to put it on a positive spin, in season 87/88 we started off brightly enough, then went on a 21 game run without a win, which put us into the relegation play off's, although we horsed Blackburn Rovers 6-1 on agg, we lost to Boro 1-2 on agg and were relegated, Amid such crowd scenes that havent been seen since the wild west, point is, that day, athough we had been shit all season, and had badly let the fans down, we had around 50,000 in that day against boro at the Bridge. Hardly a small club. If the team had walked out against boro and the stadium was empty then its no more than the players had deserved after such a crap season. So, in short, us: Big club right? Pick pockets, man ure and the arse = cunts

-
would be delightful......and possibly see the end of Benitez
-
Suppose they could always rename it Buckfast Abbey?, Shame Stoke got in first with The Brittania eh.
-
There's certainly plenty room around Ibrox anyway, given the sheer size of the ground before it was redeveloped in the 70's. plenty space for enlarging it, but will they fill it?, except for Old Firm and European games, Even Celtic are giving out false attendances now, adding ALL season ticket holders to the attendance, whether they actually attend or not. A friend of mine was at the Falkirk game a few weeks back and said the place was half empty, yet crowd was registered as about 56,000
-
Apparently it's on, Rottenham!, fuck me, what a stroke of good luck that would be, he's pony
-
Ah, you see?, now your just trying to be petty and, quite frankly, childish. Thats when I stop making an effort with you dear boy

Fucking hilarious, especially if they had to pay us comp!
