  1. His goals per game record was good, he got a good number of assists and was a big game player. He was a leader and had many other great intangibles to his game. You can stick your 20 goals seasons up your arse. A non-scoring Drogba game is infinitely different to a non-scoring Torres game.
  2. Maybe in terms of man-management, but man-management can only take you so far. Hazard could have asked for a better coach when it comes to setting up a team to make better use of his ability.
  3. If only. He signed a 5 and a half year deal in Jan 2011 which means his contract runs out in the summer of 2016. If he's this bad now just imagine how much worse he's going to get.
  4. Horses for courses, I guess. Mourinho has already spoken about bringing back the bus and parking it, so Ashley might as well be back in considering he won't be required to cross the halfway line and can only focus on defending.
  5. The signs were there for a very long time and the decline has been slow but steady for about 3 years. The only time he plays well now is when we defend extremely deep and when absolutely nothing is required of him going forward i.e. in the Super Cup final this year when he was brilliant defensively. What compounds the problem is we have Ivanovic at RB who is just as bad going forward. Then we have a manager who thinks we've fully committed to an attacking game with two non-contributing fullbacks.
  6. Pressing requires the team to push up and squeeze the opposition. We don't do that. The worst thing about it is Jose demands the front players to run their ass off and when they're bypassed the opposition have acres of space because the defence is so deep. What's the point of demanding Mata runs around like a mad man if the defenders are so deep? Doesn't make any sense. Mourinho is only good at coaching counter-attacking football and park the bus tactics. The fact that he thinks we're playing good football now says it all really. The worst thing about his comments about becoming more defensive is that he speaks as if we've fully committed to playing an offensive game when he hasn't even coached it properly and has players incompatible with such a style like Ivanovic at RB for example. He had 3 months in the summer to assess the squad, and I'm sure he knew he was coming earlier this year so was watching and keeping tabs on the team and its needs. This guy is chatting so much crap after games it's unbelievable. I actually burst out laughing when he said we played great on Tuesday.
  7. What's then going to happen is the other teams are going to do the same and the games will become what the early Chelsea-Liverpool Champions League games. I don't think Roman wanted that 'shit on a stick' football back.
  8. So we're going to concede possession and defend deep against the likes of Sunderland and Stoke now. Brilliant. Best. Transition. Ever.
  9. We're not playing particularly well though already so if he's going to make an effort to become defensive then just how badly are we going to play? I can barely stomach our performances now as it stands.
  10. He is a quality footballer and was comfortably our best player last night. Hopefully he keeps his place in the team because he deserves to play on current form.
  11. Hopefully his last year and he can leave with his head held high. It's sad watching him now.
  12. The best line of the night - by far! - however was: You couldn't make it up!
  13. He allued to that in his post-match presser: Back to square one. Transition over!!1!!!!1!
  14. When my manager asks me why I haven't produced work at the end of the week I'm going to tell him I'm in transition.
  15. No we have babies like Hazrad, Oscar and Schurrle in the team. We're in transition and will be a good team by 2020. Keep the faith
  16. Hey guys, calm down, we're in transition.
  17. I know what you're saying but even then an elite striker would be able to make things happen for himself and the players behind him. Not every goal is going to be a tap-in from two yards. Elite strikers do amazing things, it's why they're paid the big money. So whilst what you're saying has merit we still do have a problem with our strikers, especially for a club of our stature and aspirations.
  18. I'd kill for Negredo let alone Aguero!
  19. I wouldn't take anything from that game. We were extremely negative and played like we were a relegation team away at a top club so of course the striker wasn't going to have much to work with.
  20. Hey but we're in transition which means we don't have to address anything or try to improve!!!!
  21. Some people speak as if transition simply means being bad. No, transition would indicate there are signs of development, new ideas, tactics/problems in the squad being adressed etc. Just being rubbish doesn't mean you're in transition.
  22. Transition to what though? I don't see a style of play developing, improvement in quality of level/combinations etc. Transition? How. We're just stuck in the never ending limbo of rubbish football.
  23. I don't have an issue with Luiz and Mata personally. I think there's a lot wrong with our squad and the way it's coached by those two are fine by me.
  24. Wow that far back? Says it all really.
