A few years ago, Italy became concerned with their brain drain and tweaked their tax laws to combat this. It was a 5-year tax break to skilled workers who moved to Italy, whether it was Italians returning from abroad or people from other places entirely. The idea was to tempt talented people to settle in Italy, spending money and creating jobs. The was a part that applied to football, which allowed players and coaches who haven’t worked in Italy for the previous two years, whether native Italians or not, to pay taxes on just 50% of their incomes rather than the usual 100%. This meant that in Italy, the clubs offer salaries to their players based on the amount they will receive after tax, which is why the media in reports those amounts in after-tax terms, as opposed to the UK who report the salary before tax. This meant Italian clubs could afford to pay good wages to their players. The law ended earlier this year. There's more in this video:

The investigation has not got anything to do with the FA, it's the Premier League. This is where it gets interesting. The Premier League is owned by the clubs who are currently in it, and I'm not so sure that Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal et al would be open to allowing Man City get off with a soft punishment, especially after they refused to cooperate with the investigation. Let's not forget that many clubs have made big sacrifices to ensure they stayed within the regulations, so they'll also want their pound of flesh. The only question for me is whether or not the Premier League managed to get their regulations watertight enough to survive the legal challenge that Man City will bring. It's worth noting that the Premier league does have the resources to ensure that they had all their ducks in a row, so there's every chance that Man City will get the book thrown at them. If I had to choose a punishment, I'd given them a 200 to 400 point deduction that would carry over through the following seasons, on top of a long transfer ban. It would be interesting to see them struggle to hold on to their players, whilst they drop down through the leagues.

Napoli paid over €60 million for Oshimen, they'll want to make a profit on him.

As far as I've seen, the majority of Chelsea fans have quite rightly criticised Enzo.
-
The club has to manage this appropriately, or it will tear apart any chance of a cohesive squad and ruin our season before it's started. I'm not sure that there's a path where the black players feel justice has been served and Enzo is part of the preseason squad.

Maybe they're waiting for the end of this period of FFP (or whatever it's called)? I think it's June 30th.
-
I don't think he starts until 1st July.
-
This is all media gossip, nobody from, the club has actually stated this.
-
What else are they meant to say? There was no one else available so we've taken a punt on him, fingers crossed it'll work out.

Enzo Maresca should last at least two seasons. Summer and Autumn! 😆

We need to embrace the Conference League. If we win it, we'll be the only club to have won all of Europe's trophies. Hopefully, this will be our last opportunity for the foreseeable future to win in.
-
What you have to remember is the odds only reflect the risk to the bookmakers, not the chances of something happening. If there's a flurry of bets for someone, they'll lower their odds to protect themselves, even if they believe someone else is going to get the job.

Sebastian Hoeness wouldn't be the worst choice in the world. He's the big young thing in Germany.
-
I'd suggest that this is a little out of date. Here's a more up to date analysis of Chelsea towards the end of the season:
-
It won't be all bad to be in the European Conference League. The lower standard of opposition will allow greater opportunity for rotation. Also if we win it, we'll be the only club to win every European trophy.

I agree. I previously always thought he looked like a slob and maybe even a bit oafish, but fair play to him, he's looking a lot better.
-
Todd Boehly's been on a health kick! I didn't recognise him on recent a BBC article!
-
I've heard that one of the punishments that the Premier League is considering for Man City is forcing them to have Harry Kane in their squad for the next 5 years. I think that 5 years without any silverware would be an appropriate punishment.

Mudeuke, Palmer and Mudryk are all terrible at tracking back, so Caicedo and Gallagher are going to have to keep on top of things.
-
It's going to be a long painful night.

Didn't the new owners lay off our previous medical department?
-
If the figures are correct, then if the current plans go through spending will be capped at £0.5 billion a year. This won't stop the Premier League dominating.
-
Hansi Flick?
-
I disagree. He's come from a team that's organised, where he knows his and his teammates roles clearly, to a disjointed mess. What you see as him being slow, is probably him being one step behind, always trying to catch up. Let's not forget that Liverpool were happy to match our bid. There's no way they'd paid that money if they weren't pretty certain there's one helluva player in there.

I don't think that Caicedo's game suits being the anchor man, he's a box to box player who's endless energy will allow him to cover every blade of grass. To keep him holding his position to screen the defence takes a lot away from his game. This is a role that Lavia is massively suited.
