  1. Yes should definitely be making an offer, him and Madueke would be perfect balance of youth and experience for RW. But loads of clubs will be offering him so I doubt he'll come here on terms we'll agree to.
  2. I don’t think we are in comparable grounds here. We sort of really are playing real life FM which pretty much no other club is doing, replacing basically the whole squad. It could work but it would almost definitely work better with some experience mixed in. What we do know from loads of people that became top pros and won everything is that they speak a lot about the importance of the older, experienced heads around them before they hit their prime. We have real lack of that now. I think really you want one such person per area (GK, defense, midfield, attack).
  3. Surprising no one has bought Zubimendi yet. Thought he was inevitably Barca bound but saw Laportes comments that they can’t afford him or Kimmich. Would be a rock solid midfield if we had Zubi, Caicedo and Enzo.
  4. So losing Mount basically comes down to the new directors wanting players including him to be on low base highly performance related contracts I guess. They didn’t rate him so high they would break it for him but Todd was going to. Right call probs. sad to lose him all the same. Players that have a history with us like him are rare these days. I have an emotional attachment to him but it is what it is. Good luck Mason.
  5. He was the public face of a consortium that bought and now own the club. He himself owns a %, but Clearlake Capital (cofounded by Eghbali) are the main owners and (real) decision makers.
  6. Depends on his price / salary. If he is cheap, would add experience / depth to the midfield. Kessie is already excellent at pressing from midfield and pushing up to press in the attacking line, has a rock solid injury record, in general just a solid player. Could play in a 2 or a 3 midfield. We need numbers so I'm not averse to it tbh, although obviously wouldn't be the most exciting signing in history.
  7. Amazing how many people on here do not understand this. I don’t think Boehly is involved (or trusted to be involved by the people with real power) in the sporting side anymore. He is lucky to still have a job and probably got a serious dressing down a few times over his performance in that role.
  8. He will be OK, which is all we need atm
  9. Interesting, not every player we're thinking about is young AF then
  10. Who tf is Ângelo? Assume we'll have to wait 5 years to get a work permit for him, if we ever get one at all? Does he look insane in some kind of data someone can find?
  11. Personally I think next week is when we will start making some moves, in the new FFP calendar.
  12. https://www.juventuz.com/threads/dušan-vlahović.44783/page-197 Interesting reading Juve thread on Vlahovic, player who I am dubious on - they say many times that he is bad at heading, hold up play, and is essentially (currently) just a skilled poacher in the box. Also gets called lazy (and unfit) a fair bit and that his confidence is shot since being at Juve. Plenty of people saying Allegri's system ruined him and his confidence. Would be a big bet to take him on. However, IF there was a phenomenal deal on the table with Lukaku going the other way then I would still be tempted and see what Poch and his staff can do with him. He is not yet in his prime and could improve a lot, so if we can get him for OK fee then should be resellable without huge faff. I guess Lukaku plus £20m would be the sort of deal I'd be open to.
  13. Him and Pulisic both could have been incredible footballers if not for injuries.
  14. Really looking forward to preseason tbh. Want to see some Pochball and how the side might look going into the season.
  15. I mean he’d be a clear upgrade on our current situation but it only makes sense if the deal makes sense. Otherwise would rather wait.
  16. Not been crazy keen on Vlahovic but if it is in a deal that gets Lukaku off the books and we are not paying too much for him then it would be good business probably.
  17. Agreed. I hope we spend <£50m for most of our future signings tbh. Couple more expensive ones now if needed while we get some fundamental gaps sorted, and then it is time for our massive, expensive scouting / data team to deliver for us in the same way we've seen several other clubs manage. Healthy use of our sister clubs (Strasbourg + Portuguese team?) to buy up a bunch of promising <£20m players and develop our youth and Chelsea FC regularly buying <£50m players, and a team that is being constantly built and developed so that we never end up with a stagnant group of 33 year olds and another big bang rebuild job.
  18. And not onto a base of a winning side, we are building something almost from scratch here
  19. Best business of the whole window
  20. Get real. We are not even a top 10 team yet.
  21. Benfica slap a 70m Chelsea tax on as soon as we call them though, probably
  22. Maybe we finally make some progress on Caicedo in the next week or so?
  23. Shame Lampard isn’t in a job he’d be in for Mase with his whole budget. Tbh Bayern would be a good destination for him, guaranteed ‘successful’ career and a play style under Tuchel that will normalise his flaws (lack of creativity, vision, awareness of players around him, selfishness) within the turgid attacking system Tuchel believes in.
