  1. Personally wont be surprised at all if they're genuinely after McKenna or whoever. They clearly take pride in doing things that others think is mad, so...
  2. Surely got to be last chance saloon for them now. If they can't pick a manager that will deliver top 4 and work within the constraints of the club's model then surely they're finally gone.
  3. Can't say I know much about these guys...
  4. Also, if you're the owners, at this point what grounds do you have to keep the directors on? Who picked Poch? If he was the wrong fit that is their fault. If he performed badly that is their fault.
  5. To be fair it is entirely possible that happens under Poch and then we say "shit why did we get caught up thinking he had turned it around because of a short spell of games", we did concede a HUGE number of clear cut chances in those games and if things had gone even slightly differently we would have finished 8th
  6. If he refused to continue because the club are insistent on selling Chalobah and Gallagher for example, then I am pretty much ready to abandon all hope for us under the owners
  7. Everyone is laying into the club but Poch has sounded unhappy all season and clearly wanted out unless he would get some list of demands of his. If he was willing to stay and continue and not cause a fuss, just get on with the job in front of him then I think the club would have kept him. Like I said before, if what he wanted was more control over transfers I am really relieved we let him go. If it was something else, maybe the club have been quite unreasonable. We'll see what leaks I guess.
  8. Tuchel's main problems came from us not having a good structure/staff in place yet, but equally his football was quite uninspiring, he was just a very good in-game tactician. He wouldn't be top of my list but an upgrade on Poch imo.
  9. He is the only available manager I know of that is playing the kind of progressive, strategic football that all of the top teams have been dominating with in recent years, and has a track record with some of our players, that is free and might actually be up for joining us. I'm sure other good options exist, but as a person that mostly watches PL he is a simple and safe option to me that guarantees many of the things I wanted to see this season and saw none of.
  10. Interesting if it is by mutual consent. Implies Poch wanted something more and the club cannot agree, so they decided to part ways. Whether that is a sensible decision then depends on what he wants. If, as rumoured, it is more powers over transfers then I would say it is the right decision for all involved to part ways - I can see why he wants it but he's also got too big of an ego to accept that he is BAD at it, like maybe one of the worst of all the famous managers in the last 10 years. If it was something more general, like he wanted to tweak the clubs strategy to include a few more experienced players amidst the youth, then I would say the club has got it wrong (as long as his expectation was not also that he would be picking these experienced lads himself) If we go for De Zerbi I think it is an upgrade personally. Really not sure on the other candidates.
  11. Would definitely not be interested in spending 30m on an unproven coach in the PL when De Zerbi is free and we already have Poch in situ
  12. https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/features/2024/5/21/24161431/four-reasons-why-Chelsea-should-not-keep-mauricio-pochettino Pretty fair analysis honestly. Agree with all points. I don't think it will be the end of the world if we keep him, but given De Zerbi is available for free honestly I'd be very tempted if I were the Directors.
  13. The board have said from the beginning and I believe it was confirmed multiple times that Poch does get a say, he and ALL directors have to simultaneously agree on a transfer and if anyone is a no then it is a no. What he can't do is just decide for himself on a player and clearly some others in the group do not agree with whoever he is suggesting. That's their job. He has a terrible track record at picking players so I'm thankful for that. Just hope he's not ruled out some good options for us because their chakra didn't feel right to him or whatever voodoo hippy bullshit about energy he believes in.
  14. Sorry for the bad screenshot... Sky sports saying Raheem spent more time walking than any other forward in the premier league this season.
  15. I agree. Especially as he is available for free. My only question about RDZ is whether he can handle breaking down parked buses, how often did Brighton have to deal with that compared to us? I mean not that Poch did a good job here either, but still a thought...
  16. For me he's done enough to get his 150k pw if that is all he's after, as rumoured. He can at minimum do a job for us grafting like James Milner did for all of his clubs. Hard work is an underrated asset.
  17. An extra 2 years? That would be hilariously bad decision. We should tell him the truth: this is the absolute minimum acceptable and next season has to be better. No more excuses. No whining to the press about how you aren't getting to buy whichever players you feel like. Get on with the job and deliver. Promise him an extension around Christmas if we are top 4 around that time. Give him 1 year then. Keep our options open. He has done an alright job recently but I would say he is very marginal not to get the sack on balance of his performance over the season. Wouldn't really surprise me either way tbh. But him getting an extension right now would be a massive surprise to me and quite poor from the club. We cannot be rewarding 6th place. The most we can say is that due to mitigating circumstances he deserves a chance to prove he can do better.
  18. He was definitely frustrating to begin with but he's really looking like a hell of a player now. I could understand the criticism earlier in the season but the recent posts from several members here playing down how good he is just baffle me. Key part of the jigsaw. Personally, I think he struggled initially from a huge shell shock of moving from De Zerbi ball where he had really clear instructions and was part of a well oiled machine to joining an awful tactical setup from Poch (initially) and he did not have experience in the top flight playing without precise rules and other players always being EXACTLY where he's been told they will be. He's really come along since then + Poch has finally started to deliver some sensible-ish positional setup.
  19. Call me crazy but I'm not ruling out Man Utd winning the final vs City. City may be hungover from celebrations and for Man Utd the game will be EVERYTHING.
  20. Small margins make such a difference in football... 6 months ago, Solanke would have scored and taken it to 2-2, and then maybe we even lose later while chasing the game. So many of our games recently have been like this, we ended up getting the results but we conceded HUGE chances that got wasted. Need to tighten up and control games properly if we want to have a less stressful season next year.
  21. It would honestly have been amazing to see Thiago playing still at 40-41 here, absolutely think he could. Don't know what the fuck he's made out of but we need more like him
  22. In one interview earlier in the season someone asked about whether he had lost weight and he looked incredibly offended lmao
