  1. Yup. It seems to me that the only players who end up coming here only do so for the massive contract and what I'm assuming is a relaxed atmosphere at Cobham where a player can kick back and play a little table tennis or foosball followed by a leisurely swim or round of football-basketball. Players with real sporting ambition don't go to Chelsea.
  2. It's all very depressing. What happened to this grand vision of building an elite team with a proper sporting project? Something, by the way we should have been doing before Man City stole a march on us. Hoping this is all rubbish and some proper thinking is going on behind the scenes ... we'll see.
  3. God I miss Hazard. Absolutely incredible player. In my weaker moments watching this current Chelsea side (usually after another tame Havertz "shot" or a Pulisic trip to the ground) I think "would Hazard now be any worse than this lot?" 😂
  4. No Silva is a concern. That backline lacks leadership so I'm expecting a lot of panic there. Looking forward to see what Hall, Gallagher and Broja can do together! I just really want to see a bit of intensity and commitment. Oh, and forward movement as well. Less strolling around, stroking the ball around the backline.
  5. It's like the club fell asleep at the wheel over the past several years. The squad hasn't been built and maintained with any kind of vision or common thread.
  6. I'd see most of the squad go before Potter. Not because Potter is the messiah (I think he could be good but he still has a lot to prove), but because we have too many incredibly weak-minded players. They are CL winners but equally failed in 4 domestic finals in 2 years (3 FA Cups and a League Cup). There's something about the squad that makes them fall into very negative patterns of play at the smallest setback or slightest sign of resistance from the opponent (counter-pressing, physicality, or whatever).
  7. Looks like there's a lot of blame for Potter. He does make questionable decisions; e.g. players like RLC are nowhere near good enough and shouldn't be in consideration for a squad place. However, I don't think we should pretend this team where playing amazing, swashbuckling football under Tuchel. This fixture last season was 2-4! There is a serious problem with players at this club. I don't know if it's the psychological profile of players we recruit or if there is something at the club that turns players into wimps, but it needs to be identified and fixed as soon as possible. If it isn't then it doesn't matter who the manager is, the players will continue to stroll around, pass back/sideways, give up soft goals and ultimately lose to all but the most weak, depleted and/or demoralised opponents. Any team that turns up with a bit of physicality makes these players soil themselves! They just can't handle it. Looking forward to the post match insta posts from the "leaders" of the team: "they wanted it more", "it's not good enough", "we have to work, work, work". I wish they'd walk, walk, walk, right out of the club.
  8. Agreed on the need for that sort of player. RLC certainly has the physical tools. He's strong and he can control the ball most of the time. I've hoped for a long time that he would develop his decision making ability; it's never seemed to happen though unfortunately. The other need is for a Fabregas-type player(s) who can play fast forward balls to the attack in a consistent manner. That way we'll create so much that profligacy of the current attack might not be as big of an issue.
  9. Our biggest problem IMO is the midfield. The attackers are tentative, wasteful and fall over a lot but I really think having midfielders who rarely move the ball forward (in a meaningful way) is holding this team back a lot. Kovacic and Jorhinho might have strengths, but creativity isn't one of them unfortunately. I was only able to watch the first half yesterday but the endless lateral and back passing was maddening.
  10. So glad to be wrong 😆 Glad Broja got his first goal too!
  11. Wolves are going to be licking their chops. Struggling team. Check. Weakened Chelsea lineup. Check. All the ingredients for another Chelsea special here ... please prove me wrong Pulisic! Pulisic? Where'd he go? Oh he's on the floor ...
  12. Frankly, if he wasn't injured he'd be on the pitch falling over.
  13. At this point I just don't know what these players want? What's it going to take for them to just look like they're not being dragged out on match day and made to put a kit and boots on? To grab a game and go for it. I despair of a lot of the mindset and mentality of a lot of these players right now.
  14. Very frustrating performance. Players look scared of their own shadows. If I never see Ziyech play minute for Chelsea it will be too soon.
  15. Very optimistic. I hope it's the start of something special. Good football and good times to come hopefully!
  16. I think that can change relatively quickly if (big if) he gets us playing good attacking football and competing towards the top of the league.
  17. I'm hopeful. It's early days at United but Ten Hag has shown what a coach can do in a couple of weeks (they were beyond abysmal).
  18. Wow! Now we know the new owners aren't afraid to act quickly. The players do it to another manager.
  19. They must be realllly looking forward to this one.
  20. Forget City. We're no match for Leeds, Southampton or Zagreb right now.
  21. Blueprint is clear now. Onto Fulham 🤦‍♂️
  22. I think that's a good illustration. No way should Ziyech be taking that again. But no one stands up to him????
  23. Again, this team and staff just show all their aggression to the officials! Why? Why not show some aggression on the pitch?
