Thiago has one more year left in him and Azpi, Rudi and Christensen's contracts are all up at the end of the year. If Christensen isn't trusted to be Thiago's replacement then we need a ball playing defender which is a bit dodgy since you could get a Luiz that gets outed if you want to switch to 4 defenders. It all rests on who replaces Zouma as he is clearly the odd one out. Azpi or James at RCB is a bit dodgy as they are both a bit short and the question would still be who would we sign on the right to replace them.

Dortmund have probably put a deadline on the Haaland deal. Hakimi and Donnarumma to PSG. The targets that are left do not appeal that much. Spuds' best players always want to leave. Modric, Bale, Eriksen and now Kane. I'm glad we do not have that problem with this squad since Courtois, Costa, Hazard all moved on. At the same time, it makes me a bit cautious about signing Haaland, as he will always be linked away.

Tuchel is developing a repetoire for playing short CBs, like Azpi and James. I think it's more likely we see Alonso at CB than Kounde though. He could be suitable for the RWB spot though. Probably better options out there though.

Tbf we blocked him from moving to Bayern. Why would he want dortmund now? Furthermore, I don't think dortmund want to pay his wages.

It could go either way. There isn't a lot of transfer noise, which kind of makes it sound like we are focusing on the right targets. It could be done in a month, ready for him to start Prem in September. It could also lead to nothing, and a scramble for him next year. That leaves us without a striker and short of depth. I'm guessing option 2 is to address the depth but the board has a bad record with these types of signings.
