  1. Christensen suffer from Matic syndrome: a decent player turned into world class by fans after watching one great performance. Matic debut against City back in 2014 was superb. The thing is, he never managed to emulate that performance. For many months people were labelling Matic as the best DM in the world...The fella is good, but not even close of being as good as some people pictured. I'm go as far as saying that at the end of the day he was just a little better than Mikel. Christensen had one great performance against United last season, then for the rest of the reason he was just average, with some shambolic performances here and there. I never understood why in the summer window most people were putting Christensen as an undisputed starting player ahead of Luiz and Rudiger. There is a myth that Christensen was great last season minus his mistake against Barcelona, but in my books thats not really the case, thats why at the end of the season he wasn't even starting games anymore.
  2. Lets pray Piatek stays in Genoa then.
  3. My favorite Chelsea was the one from 07 to 10, right after Mourinho left. My favorite games (Barcelona and Bayern in 2012 UCL aside) are all from that period. The team had more freedom, and really loved that heavy midfield with Lampard and Ballack. Not a big fan of direction the club went after that, buying light midfield players like Ramires, Kante, Jorginho, Fabregas, Juan Mata and Oscar.
  4. Debatable. Definitely the 09/10 team is by a country mile my favorite of the Abramovich era, but I think its really hard to go against Mourinho as the best coach of Abramovich era, as much as I hate the man.
  5. I'm the only one that come here once in a while hoping to read news that the club is actually looking for another CF and Higuain deal is dead in the water?
  6. I thought about his name. Would be a no brainer if Sarri gets sacked. Football is not that complicated. Solksjaer is getting results by doing simple things.
  7. Who do you guys think should be the next manager if Sarri get sacked?
  8. I see where you are coming from, but in my books Jorginho is not having an "ordinary" season. Barkley is having an ordinary season, but I see Jorginho as a flop and 100% disaster of a signing. I mean, I don't know how some people can't realize this guy is a DM that is useless when the team is defending. He is not a CB or a striker (perhaps the positions that are more punishing in terms of revealing the player's mistakes and weakness), but I would say only Bakayoko and Morata prevents Jorginho from being the worst signing of past 10 years. About the "long term vision" I think Jorginho playing game after game is more related with Sarri than the clubs long term vision. Its never a good idea when a new manager arrive in a new club and bring a new player as someone that is essential for the team.
  9. I think people tend to look back at Didier as a player he never was. I mean, Didier played 8 full seasons between 2004 and 2012. Only during 2 of those 8 season (06/07 and 09/10) Didier was scored more than 12 league goals. Didier never was a killer goalscorer. His impact in the game was bigger than scoring goals. In my opinion Drogba's first season was pretty much at the same level as his subsequent seasons. Diego Costa is the only true killer CF of the Abramovich era.
  10. Sarri is a pretty weak manager. Sarri represents the current state of this club. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to give the job to an old manger with 0 trophies and that only managed clubs in Serie A? Just look at Sarri's CV. He only managed small teams in Italy before becoming Napoli's coach. He did a good job for 3 season with Napoli, but nothing superb. Then suddenly the board thought he was the right guy. Gimme a break. Sarri is probably the worst appointment of Abramovich era. In my books his appointment is worst than Avran Grant, Scolari, AVB and RDM. I mean, when Grant got a 3 years contract he was doing a decent job with the team, Scolari was doing a great job with Portugal, AVB was considered the next Pep Guardiola after his experience with Benfica, and RDM just had won the UCL with the team. Sarri is a 60 years old manager with a poor CV. I mean, whats the difference between Sarri's CV and the ones coming from Premier League guys like Alan Pardew, Big Sam and Tony Pulis? Well, he is from Italy, so since he came from a foreign league he must be pretty good for people running the club. I think Ms. Granovskaya needs someone at her side, someone who really understand what the game is about.
  11. Drogba was far from a "flop" in his first season. Actually I don't remember someone ever calling him a "Chelsea flop". Saying Droga was a "flop" in the first season is just baseless revisionism.
  12. Well, this is used many times as a excuse for flops...but give me just one example of a Chelsea player in past 10 years that was a flop in the first season, then became a great player after the period of adaptation? I don't remember a single one. Even outside Chelsea I won't remember a name.
  13. Sarri must be sacked. Even Emery is a better manager than Sarri.
  14. Well, Drogba was wanted by Mourinho back in the day, Scolari bought Quaresma, Diego Costa was also wanted by Mourinho, and even Morata himself was wanted by Conte (Morata even said he moved to Chelsea because Conte wanted him since the Italian was at charge in Juventus).
  15. So there are people who even want Higuain. Weird.
  16. Higuain would be one of those guys that play for few months on loan, score one goal or two, then 5 years from now people won't even believe one day he played for Chelsea.
  17. To be honest I dont even know who this guy is, but I would take him over Higuaín.
  18. Sarri being the manager represents a club with no direction. Since 2012 the club is doing bad decisions in terms of football management. First big mistake: hiring Mourinho back in 2013. At that point the club was investing heavily in young players. Instead of paying big money for big names like Ballack, Crespo and Shevchenko, the club was getting Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne, Hazard, Oscar. It was also a team in search of new leaders. Drogba was long gone, Lampard, Terry and Cech were aging. Mourinho just happened to be the worst manager for that kind of transfer policy and for what the team needed. After Mourinho the club got Conte. Dont get me wrong, Conte did a great job for one single season, but why he was the chosen one? Why the club decided he was the right man? It emerged days before Conte was annouced as the new manager, that Sampaoli didn’t get the job because his english was pretty poor. We are talking about 2 different animals...why thought both guys would make a good manager? Conte had nothing in his CV at that point o make him an exciting announcement. Then the whole Conte vs Costa soap opera. That exposed a club without leadership. Why Conte was allowed to say that the main player in the whole squad was no longer needed and still kept his job? If the club was serious, Conte would get sacked without questions. Instead, the club had to pay 70m for an average striker, because Antonio Conte said so, and still had to hear the manager moaning during the whole season. Then they bring Sarri...why they thought Sarri would make a great coach? Why the club got a manager that demanded Jorginho, and a manager that was willing to sacrifice Kante, easily one of our most important players in past 2 seasons, and the hidden secret behind Leicester miracle, and a guy that just signed a big contract extention? Now it seems the club is willing to get a shitty old striker, because this striker worked with Sarri years ago. Not to mention in past 2 seasons we only had one successful signing: Rudiger. In the past 2 seasons the clubs is spending money in Bakayoko, Palmieri, Zapaccosta, Giroud and Jorginho.
  19. The only thing CHO offer right now is that he is a Chelsea player wanted by Bayern.
  20. The team cannot afford to lose William. Simple as that, not because he is superb, but because at the moment the squad is so weak that William is an essential player.
  21. 5 months later my opinion is the same. He is useless when the team don't have the ball, and as his zero assists stats prove, most of his contribution during the game is touching the ball...for me he is the biggest hidden weak link of this team. Thats why I think its a terrible idea when a manager sees a specific player as "key" to his tactics.
  22. Conte is a HUGE clown. I'm surprised fans still praise this guy. His biggest legacy: Morata playing for Chelsea, while Costa is elsewhere, and don't come with "Costa forced to leave" shit. Drogba himself tried to force himself out many times as you like, and the club always forced Drogba to stay, eventually he changed his mind and signed a contract extension. Conte is a poor man's Mourinho: same gigantic ego as the portuguese, but with a much more modest CV. The guy was lucky that his one trick formation worked for one single season, and thats it. Not sure why people bought the idea that Real Madrid was after Conte. The big truth is that Conte is NEVER going to manage another big European side outside Italy, or until United try to hire another Chelsea reject.
