Carney Chukwuemeka set for Chelsea change as Graham Potter plan revealed The latest Aston Villa news as former Lion Chukwuemeka completed a move to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/Chelsea-graham-potter-chukwuemeka-villa-25009562 Graham Potter’s appointment at Chelsea is part of a ‘long term’ plan for the club, something which could impact former Aston Villa man Carney Chukwuemeka. The 18-year-old completed a summer move to Stamford Bridge from Villa Park in the summer transfer window. The teenager had just six months remaining on his deal at Villa and was training with the under 21s after refusing to sign a new contract with the club. His move to Chelsea came out of the blue last month, with Villa accepting an offer of around £20m for the youngster. He signed a six-year deal with the club, then managed by Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea splashed the cash under new owner Todd Bohley. Despite signing for Tuchel, Chukwuemeka didn’t get the chance to play a competitive game under the guidance of the German. The midfielder was an unused substitute for two Premier League games as well as Tuchel’s final game in charge, a 1-0 Champions League loss vs Dinamo Zagreb. After showing Tuchel the door, Bohley and the rest of the Chelsea hierarchy moved quickly to bring Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter to the club. The Englishman has signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge. According to the Guardian this week, the appointment of the head coach is part of a ‘long term’ plan. Chelsea are said to be looking to move away from the culture of quickly sacking a manager, and will stand by the new man, even if the club don’t qualify for the Champions League this season, as long as progress can be seen. Potter is seen as a builder, having developed Brighton from relegation candidates to an established Premier League side during his time at the club. The head coach worked with a mixture of youngsters and senior pros at the Amex Stadium, helping to develop the likes of Tariq Lamptey, Moises Caiedo and Alexis Mac Allister. This summer, Potter showed his willingness to work with youngsters with new arrivals including 19-year-old Levi Colwill and 21-year-old Billy Gilmour on loan from Chelsea. 18-year-old striker Julio Enciso also arrived and made his debut in the EFL second round clash vs Forest Green Rovers. They are all good signs for Chukwuemeka, who will look to impress his new manager in training and possibly matches over the next few months. His first chance will be in the Champions League clash vs Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday night. There is, however, one concern that the change of manager may bring for Chukwuemeka. According to the Times , Chelsea are again ‘willing to invest heavily’ during the January transfer window. Something that will only increase competition for places. Potter was known to use the loan market in order to develop players during his time at Brighton. It could be an option the manager turns to if the former Villa man doesn’t catch his eye over the next few months.

Pool is my pick where he ends up, the fuckers. Citeh 2nd, Real 3rd. If Manure fail to get CL, they have little chance, same for us I fear. A Real MF of Aurélien Tchouameni Jude Bellingham Eduardo Camavinga Federico Valverde is a terrifying thought
-
I do not think he is near Gravenberch's level we should try for Bellingham (I think we fail) and then, if we fail, buy Kouadio Koné (plus Moisés Caicedo as the Kante replacement) if Zakaria pans out, fuck Rice for £150m, that is robbery West Ham can go choke on a bag of dicks, and Rice irritates me as well, as he refuses to push for a transfer, so he can stay and cash old pesty pornographer pikey cheques plus Koné can also play DMF the big cash should go for Gvardiol, Osimhen, and an attempt at Rafael Leão (another likely fail next summer, as this summer, even though crazy money, was our likely best shot at him, depressingly)

pretty comprehensive list of misses and who is to blame Most of this(but certainly not all) takes Boehly off the hook with some big exceptions (but also some of the biggest fuckups are all on Marina and the board in 2021) Marina has a far worse record first.... Jules Koundé was not a miss this summer, as WE pulled the plug, if you want to blame Marina for summer 2021, well you also have to blame (moreso, in Marina's defence) Sevilla, who gamed played and fucked us hard next........ The ones who we can only blame the players as they either wanted to stay or go to a specific club, so neither Chels regime can be blamed (lesson being, we simply cannot compete against Barca, Real, Bayern, or PSG in most cases, nor Citeh usually) Raphinha only wanted Barca Dembele only wanted Barca Gavi only wanted Barca Robert Lewandowski only wanted Barca Ronald Araújo only wanted Barca Pedri only wanted Barca Frenkie de Jong only wanted Barca Memphis Depay only wanted Barca Marquinhos only wanted PSG Presnel Kimpembe only wanted PSG Achraf Hakimi (2021) only wanted PSG (Marina fucked up and refused to buy him for years, just like Theo) Matthijs de Ligt only wanted Bayern after Barca and Real passed Serge Gnabry only wanted Bayern Kingsley Coman only wanted Bayern Leroy Sane only wanted Bayern Ryan Gravenberch only wanted Bayern after Barca and Real passed Jamal Musiala used us for training, always only wanted Bayern Alessandro Bastoni wanted to stay at Inter Lautaro Martínez wanted to stay at Inter (you can blame Marina for choosing Donkeykaku over him) Nicolò Barella wanted to stay at Inter Theo Hernández wanted to stay at AC Milan (and we got CuCu as a pretty decent consolation prize, granted we overpaid) Marina fucked up and refused to buy him years ago Erling Haaland we never really had a chance, as he was simply too expensive in 2021, plus too many strings, and in 2022, once Real bowed out (and so happy they got burnt on Mbappe too), he was always going to Citeh Jude Bellingham wanted to stay at Dortmund and Dortmund would have only sold for an insane €150m or so thus summer (and in 2023 we will have to fight the entire top 10 clubs to sign him, I am not optimistic) Marcos Llorente wanted to stay at Atletico Madrid Declan Rice refused to push for a transfer, and West Ham wanted £150m, so zero chance I blame Boehly (Marina fucked up for years with him though) next.... the 'did not rates so now real moves made' Bremer Niklas Süle Boubacar Kamara Yves Bissouma (disagree, but IF we are going for Moisés Caicedo, then this makes sense) Nico Schlotterbeck (disagree UNLESS we get Gvardiol) Evan Ndicka Mohamed Simakan (I still really rate him) Sergej Milinković-Savić Denzel Dumfries (price was too high) Merih Demiral Teun Koopmeiners Guido Rodríguez Moussa Diaby (simply have to be looking at him next summer) Jarrod Bowen (simply have to be looking at him next summer) next... the ones who there was really sold reason for not moving for Milan Škriniar can get him on a free if he doesn't renow Federico Chiesa injured Florian Wirtz injured Mikel Oyarzabal injured Arnaut Danjuma injured Josko Gvardiol Leipzig refused to sell, BUT we can wrap him up for next summer in January Christopher Nkunku he will be far cheaper in summer 2023, Leipzig would have demanded well over €100m Arsen Zakharyan blocked for now by Russian bullshit, BUT we will get him I think in January or next summer, I am a HUGE fan finally.... the actual misses/fuckups that can be blamed on US (some on Marina, some on Boehly) Aurélien Tchouameni (complete fuckup by Marina in 2021, devastating error) Gabriel Jesus (by far Boehly's biggest fuckup) Hugo Ekitiké another Boehly large fuckup, we could have prised him away from PSG (Campos is a a superb DoF, so hat tip for his pull) Dušan Vlahović massive fuckup in 2020 and 2021 by Marina Victor Osimhen another Marina 2020 and 2021 fuckup, plus Boehly, once Jesus and Ekitiké were off the board and Lautaro was not in play, should have coughed up the cash (and should do so in summer 2023) Rafael Leão (yes, the money was crazy, but I fear not buying him thus past summer means we do not get him) Edson Álvarez (remains to be seen if we still make a move for him) Roméo Lavia (still not sure how that Citeh buyback would work, I thought it would block us) and lastly RUDIGER (ALL ON MARINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Kouadio Koné (not a 'miss' as we never bid, but a cockup, a large one, because we SHOULD have bid, and we simply mist make a move for hum in 2023 IMHO) Armel Bella-Kotchap (cannot believe our scouts missed this lad)

Luis Campos for sporting director is my clear choice after Michael Edwards said no Campos might have even been my first choice, but I assumed he was unavailable
-
I am very happy so far with Boehly, especially given the nightmare we are had to go through due to Putin.
-
This will probably make heads explode here, but I would straight swap Gallagher for Alexis Mac Allister right now, especially as we now have Potter, who started the polishing of that rough diamond.

Most impactful U25 players worldwide https://www.football-observatory.com/IMG/sites/b5wp/2022/wp388/en/ Issue number 388 of the Weekly Post presents the top 10 Impact Score rates among footballers who did not yet celebrate their 25th birthday for each of the fifteen technical profiles identified by the CIES Football Observatory’s role-based approach. The greatest values overall (100/100) were recorded for Alessandro Bastoni (blocker playmaker), Éder Militão (pure blocker), Jules Koundé (air blocker filter man) and Vinícius Júnior (infiltrator creator). The Impact Score is an exclusive CIES Football Observatory’s metrics developed to assess players’ sporting achievement and potential. It is calculated by taking into consideration the average match level in which players participated according to the experience capital method, official game minutes played over the last 365 days, as well as pitch performance compared to both teammates, opponents and same profile’s players. The role-based approach used to determine technical profiles clusters players according to the level of their involvement in eight areas of the game with respect to teammates: air defence, ground defence, recovery, distribution, take on, chance creation, air attack and shooting. Yes, next season (the FIRST year of his potential extension) he turns 33yo. I have a bridge to sell anyone who thinks a 34, 35, 36yo Kante is going to be worth around £250-300K PW.

There is no way I would pay over £100m for Rice after summer 2024. In summer 2025 we would be buying a player who soon turns 27 (or 28 if the summer after that) for a position that ages incredibly poorly (traditional DMF) The ONLY over 30yo DMF (and that includes all types of DMF, including the less rigorous deep holding type) in the top 45 globally in terms of valuation is the 31yo Kante. and look at his multiyear issues. The only other 2 who are even 30yo are Jorginho (not at all a trad DMF) and Casemiro, who will end end a fairly poor buy I wager for that insane £70m (when add-ons are included) price.
