I am going to support them. It benefits us. Hope they qualify for the next round, against Juve, no less. With their squad depth (or rather lack of), they simply won't be able to play with the same intensity in both competitions. It's best case scenario for us. With the added bonus of city's quadruple talk ending, and they focusing completely and wholly on the PL.

Let's hope we don't make things difficult for ourselves. Got a great result last Thursday, and should be able to get the qualification done this Thursday. I would not give up on top4 yet. I feel arsenal will drop points today and both United (everton) and spurs (city) will drop points next weekend. So we have to have an eye on both competitiins, which means some rotation. Hope the bridge is a positive place. The players played a good game against pool and the last thing we need is another round of booing. Kepa Zappa ac Luiz Alonso Kova ampadu Barkley Willian giroud hazard. No point in playing pedro, the guy is crap. Azpi should be rested, so should jorginho. Both have been run to the ground.

And we can respect the opinion of someone who even on my short time here on the forum just pops up to ridicule the team when we lose? I like baka, and the guy is showing his worth this season .

If you are talking about the season, then on merit, sarri deserved a sack, specially knowing that others have got it for way less. But let's just talk about this game. I am sorry but I can't agree with it. Yes we got wengered because we foolishly tried to go toe to toe with the likes of spurs and city. Don't forget that we beat city once using "bunker ball" and took them to penalties in another in a match where we probably deserved the win. Spurs, arsenal and pool might have gone toe to toe when we were the better side, but care to tell me what do they have to show for it aside from a one off win here and there? We do have problems, hell we have lots and lots of them. Player capability, transfer ban, player retention, manager etc etc, But sarri has shown a lot of positives at least for me. Adapting to the situation, trusting youth being the top 2 of those. But I feel there is a basic difference in expectation between us. I wanted and expected a defensive performance, and honestly thought we played well. Again, we easily could have made it 2-2. Both of their goals were fantastic. On the other hand, you wanted us to play our brand of football, so I can understand your frustration.

This. We can bash sarri for actually "wanting" higuain. That was such a howler. Specially since the board (for ince) are giving the manager what he wants (jorginho and higuain). But faulting him for today just seems so OTT and to be honest, so spoilt. I would rather look at the positives, and truth be spoken, I am seeing some really good signs.

Klopp has played a loooot of games defensively. If you go back to the pool city game, that was a classic game. Also, going toe to toe is the right approach when you are on the same level. We and pool are not, at this moment. They are a level above us. We have seen what happens when managers don't adapt to the opposition, and simply put out the same team. They get wengered.
-
Fair enough if that is the case. I myself have used that term for sarri. But truth be told, he seems to have turned a corner. It was a good performance (at least for me), we showed fight and the right response after going down. You can ask why it took 2 goals for us to show that, but I feel it would be unfair since they were 2 minutes and just such a worldie. Sarri has shown adaptation, he has shown change. He gave pool the respect they deserved today. He has shown faith in kids even for such a big game. We do look dangerous in bits and pieces. Just need a good window and some good players.
-
Implementing a style does not mean you can't be pragmatic. Klopp has had 3/4 years now. Sarri barely one year. Trying to go toe to toe against pool would have been stupid and almost as bad as etihad. We were in the game, and we could very well have at least drawn it. We were beaten by a better team and by one of he goals of the season.
-
😅 I must surely have watched a different game. I thought we were very good. Could easily easily have been 2-2 We got beaten by 2 great goals. We defended really well. And created some good chances. I have had a lot of issues with sarri but calling him a fraud for today's performance seems downright stupid.
-
Good performance. Hell we could have even scored one. We are playing well. Exactly like I imagined and wanted today. Just keeping frustrating them, and then do them on the counter. Come on Chelsea. We are going to win this.
-
Perfect line up. Now for a good performance. Come on Chelsea...

False 9 for me. If higuain starts, it will be like playing with 10 men. The guy has nothing in his locker to trouble vvd, who will have a field day. Except for the CBs, the team pretty much picks itself. All the 3 CBs deserve the start, but I think Luiz and Toni will get the nod. Kepa Azpi Toni Luiz Emerson Kante jorginho RLC CHo hazard willian The midfield has to be those 3. Barkley and kovacic really should not be starting. Alonso is just horrendous.
-
I beg to differ. The worst player was Pedro, hands down. I would love to see the touches that he had and the percent of times he lost the ball. Will be around 70-80%
-
This might not be popular, but willian my motm. Anything decent that we did, was his doing. I feel the best solution for the weekend might be a false nine with cho-eden-willian
-
Dear mother of God. Does it mean he starts on the weekend?
-
I have a feeling that we will Nick this. 1-0
-
Eden comes in, and we are straight on the front foot.
-
The bang average pathetic footballer is put out of his misery. If he somehow is here next season, I will be shocked. One of the first players who needs to be fucked off
-
Still better than oedro
-
Has Pedro done one single thing right? Anything? Such a pathetic player. Just can't understand how he kept himself relevant as a footballer at this level for this long. Average player who just happened to be playing with the best ever player and the best ever team. Bang bloody average. I know people like to get on willian's case, but he offers 100 times more than pedro
-
Don't know what's more pathetic, the performance or the fact that the likes of Alonso, willian, Pedro, Barkley and kovacic were our first teamers for more than 8 months
-
I feel that would be the worst outcome. Sarri can't implement his 'style of play' with the current lot. We have and we are seeing that. If we keep sarri, we will need to get players (specially a striker) who suits his requirement. If Luiz leaves, we will need a cb who can fill in those shoes, my preference would be ake Most importantly we need to sell the likes of willian and Pedro, and get wingers who do what is asked off them (stick to the touch line) rather than crowding the center. It's almost imperative that sarri gets a transfer window if he is getting another year. Else it will be the same old drivel that we have seen this season sans hazard.
-
Would make the most sense. I have a feeling we will try and play sumilar to how we played against city in the league cup final. Surely sarri won't want another etihad
-
Willian giroud pedro Barkley kovacic ampadu Alonso Andreas Rudi Zappa Kepa I would want a completely rotated team for the pool game.
-
Depends on your definition of "new". Out of 8, I want 3 "new" defenders - ake, Reece, Jay. In midfield, I think we have good options. RLC is showing his quality. Ampadu deserves a chance in the least.
