Ray Wilkins leaves with immediate effect
Blue in NY replied to BlueLion.'s topic in Matthew Harding Stand
This is really a big loss for us. Ray was one of the most respected guys at the club, and always knew the right things to say. He played a huge part in Hiddink's success and also was a great friend to Carlo. This is terrible news for Chelsea fans everywhere, I just don't understand why his contract wouldn't be renewed. -
Carlo's half time Wembley UEFA CL Final team talk

Huge fan of this speech. -
Sorry. Feel free to delete.

I'm not asking anyone to believe me, so I wouldn't be offended if this topic went unread. However, I received some information from my friend (Liverpool fan) who got some information from a close source about Steven Gerrard. "I don't get out of bed for anything less than a potentially sensational story, and this one could be enormous. There's a rumour spreading like wildfire on the internet that Steven Gerrard is facing accusations he got a 16-year-old Liverpool girl pregnant. Fan site Redcafe.net report that the News of the World are planning to break the story on Sunday - while some sources are suggesting Gerrard has a court injunction to keep the girl quiet. There are also rumours circulating that Gerrard's wife Alex Curran has been having an affair with a Derby County player. According to some sites, Gerrard will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after finding out about the affair. Of course, it could all be scurrilous gossip with no foundation whatsover. Watch this space." Again, I'm not sure how credible this source is, but it's quite interesting, especially ahead of the game on Sunday.

Chelsea 2-1 Manchester United (April 26, 2008)

Two years ago, today. Still 11:15 pm here in the States. KTBFFH -
There is one factor that in my mind, will decide the game for us if we use it properly. With Flo playing the way he has been, and even scoring, he can absolutely rip Gary Neville apart. It may not have been noticeable, but Ribery was often flying past Neville. Neville was getting help from Park on the right, but Ribery was still able to create a decent amount of space. In our last big game, the players admittedly said that we were guilty of playing too many long balls up to DD (Inter). With our revitalized attack, as evident in our 7-1 thrashing of Villa, the width that we lacked, especially in the Inter game, seems to be there. In my eyes, Joe had his best game of the season against Villa, flanking the right with great effect. Evra is very very good, though, and can get back quickly. However, the other side is where we will win the game. Instead of Lamps and Ballack chucking the ball up for DD the whole game, we need to build in attack with more possession, spread the ball out to Flo like we have been, and let him create the chances for DD, Lamps, and even himself to score.

YES ffs. Finally some bad luck for United, I really wonder what the extent of Rooney's injury is though. To have him out for the game Saturday would be obviously something that I would enjoy.

Welcome, from a fellow American. This is a great place to be.

Mourinho has some balls. Pandev, Eto'o, and Milito all starting.

So nervous right now. I know some people are partial to winning the league, and I love to win the league, but the CL matters a little more to me.

I don't see why people continue to think that JT will ever be dropped, it's a ridiculous idea to me. I agree with Steve, I love the way Bran has played this year, we might be in a huge hole right now in the CL if it wasn't for him, but Bosingwa is extremely effective on the right, every bit as good as Ivanovic. I think he would be better fit for the middle as well, although it is great for us to have a utility defender. I do love Alex though, I do wish he would start alongside JT, he was unlucky to get hurt. We were in incredible form when they were partnered, and I think if he started that it would be ideal for us. I love Riccy, he's had an incredible career here, but his age is creeping up on him.

KALOU YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tell you what, I trust Carlo here. He's got a lot of balls, but he knows how crucial away goals are. It'll be tough to defend Kalou, DD, and Nico, especially with each of their defenders facing a red card with one more yellow. Carlo has been here before, he's putting the pressure on Inter.

Overseas I'm reduced to watching the game online here. Stupid Fox Soccer Channel took over the CL and I don't get the channel this year so for now I'll just be frustrated watching online. Although I did just put down $5 more per month today to get FSC so this'll be the last game that I'll have to suffer for. Come on you Blues!

Great stuff.

There we go get in there DD! Perfect stuff from Yuri.

At this point Drogba should just shoot anytime the ball comes to his feet. Our midfield hasn't had a lick of possession today.

We need to stop with this one-touch bullshit when we get possession. Spread it out wide and pump some crosses into the box for Drog.
-
So true about Drog. I can't stop hearing "Rooney is the best striker in the world right now". Enough, take a look at today's game and you'll think otherwise. Typical stupid Manc response, not sure what he's trying to achieve by listing their whole team, I'm pretty sure we're deeper in every position.
-
Damn. Not real upset with the result as it is still a tough environment. I expect us to win, but my hopes kinda went down the drain when I got pulled over for speeding today. Not the greatest of days.
-
Didn't someone call that JT was going to score the game-winner?
-
Nic!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone has a link to the game, it would be much appreciated. I don't know if you guys across the pond like the late start, but it's a 12:30 start here so I'm ok with getting some sleep tomorrow. Let's quiet the crowd early, and control the game with the confidence we've been playing with.

Haha very true. Let's hope the Sox win every year then.
