  1. maybe he gets a Capital One Cup game like Christensen did last year. I hope he does, and I hope he impresses enough to get Jose's attention, as he is by far the best prospect we have in the youth system. He's going to be a good player, and chances are, it will be at a different club than ours, but I'd like to see him get at least one or two looks in our team before he is sold.
  2. because the manager is making it clear that he's only buying one more player, a CB. any other purchase will be if a player leaves. Ramires and Mikel are going nowhere.
  3. no they wouldn't have. they had 12 points less. 90 points in 2013-14; 78 points in 2014-15.
  4. So, you are prepared to watch Cesc and Matic run into the ground, again?
  5. I'm ready to question him. I think his days of being special are behind him. For 34 million we can buy Baba Rahman and Rudiger, while saving 4m. lol. What a joke English youth players are.
  6. first of all, i'm not extrapolating. I'm adjusting for market inflation. in those days, 13m was worth 20m nowadays. And Ronaldo wasn't a no body, he was a highly regarded prospect having been playing for Portuguese national team since under 15s. second of all. Just because the players didn't work out doesn't mean they weren't bought to improve the squad. Ferguson still bought them. He didn't just sit around like you guys are suggesting. He kept adding players to the squad. Them not working out is his failure. We aren't buying those type of players that are coming in challenging for starting spots. Begovic is not going to contribute to the season unless Courtois is injured. And Falcao is not going to contribute unless Costa and Remy are injured. Now, if we had bought a CM, that would be a different story. I don't want us to buy a defender or a striker just for he sake of buying some one. We need a midfielder. We aren't getting one.
  7. lol. why would they know anything? they are a fans channel. with the amount of journalists that have close relationships with executives and Jose, any development and they would be notified. that's how you maintain relations with the media.
  8. those stats are meaningless. Stones plays in a Martinez defense. He going to be asked to do a lot more than our CBs. We have a monster in Matic protecting our CBs, and most of the time, they just have to stay in position and the likes of Matic, Cesc, Willian and Oscar will track back and defend.
  9. when did I say anything about marquee signings? I said Ferguson bought players every summer to improve the team. Vidic, Evra, and Van Der Saar was basically a reconstruction of their entire back-line that stuck for the next 6 years. Price means nothing. That's starters you are signing. Case in point for us: Matic wasn't a marquee signing, but he's our most important player. We need to keep making those sorts of signings and not just sign guaranteed backups like Begovic and Falcao. Players actually capable of contributing to a season is what Ferguson signed. Every summer you need to get at least one player that can win himself a starting spot. We've yet to do that. P.S. Ronaldo was an 18 year old bought for 13m in 2003, which if adjusted for today's prices will be 20m or so, what we paid for Oscar, who in one years time became a starter. So don't just brush that aside as nothing. If we were to go out and purchase Varane right now, you'd dismiss that as a nothing buy because he would not be a starter this year but next year?
  10. what? That's a myth. He broke the English transfer record multiple times. He even hijacked Cantona from Leeds. lol. So Keane, Cantona, Stam, Cole, Sheringham, Rio, Van Nisterlroy, Ronaldo, Van Der Saar, Vidic, Rooney, Evra, Tevez, and RVP were all academy products or brought on the free? At every stage of the 2 decades he kept adding either the best player in the EPL, or the one of the best European players to the squad. He operated at a time when he had one competitor, Arsenal. As soon as it because 3, then 4, he had to buy world class to compete. He bought the best player in the league to win his last title. If City add KdB and Pogba like they are trying, we are in trouble. I think it's clear the board/Roman are the ones that are keeping our transfers limited. There have been several leaks that Jose is not happy with our business. He even said yesterday that it will be extremely difficult to win again with the same squad: "It's a big challenge for us to go through the season with basically the same team and squad from last season." That's not the words of a man willingly trying not to buy players. It looks like he can't. His whole Pogba comment reeked of a man getting pissed off at not being able to have something he wants.
  11. and why did Milner cost 26m 5 years ago? Because he was young. We convinced Begovic to come sit on the bench. Jose could have gotten Milner if he wanted, but he prefers Ramires and Mikel right now. I just think that we should focus on bringing through the likes of RLC, Solanke, Boga, and Musonda. That right there is our home grown quota for the next 10 years. It's much more financially sound. These young players have no qualms about being squad players and not starting every game. It's looking like the orders to Mourinho are that these young players need to come through now. that's why he's sounding out about lack of transfer activity.
  12. You missed my point. The players I listed are our star players. They can be bought at reasonably cheap prices. We can fill the HG/British quota by buying squad players like Delph, Milner, Clyne, etc. Instead of having squad players like Ramires, Mikel, Falcao, Remy, etc. we can buy English players for those role, as they will come far more cheaper. A star level English player from now on is going to cost 40-50m because teams are going to have the new TV deal money next year. While a star foreign player is going to cost 25-35m (ala Sanchez, Costa, Hazard, Aguero, etc.)
  13. not when it comes to prices. a Belgian home grown is way cheaper than an English home grown. and since we're apparently opperating on a 'break-even' financial plan, I'd like us to stay clear of young English players rated highly by the English media. Buy the established English players that have lost their "future England savior" tag. Guys like Milner, Delph, Clyne. These sort of players are available each window. Fill the squad player roles with English players, and the stars that are foregin, as they come cheap. I mean, we got Azpi and Cahill for 7m, Oscar for 20m, Matic for 21m, Cesc for 27m, and got Hazard and Costa for 32m. Stones is appearing to be more expensive than all of them. not sound business.
  14. Home grown doesn't = English. Cesc, Begovic, Moses are all home grown. Ake is also homegrown.
  15. That's all fine. But it doesn't mean we have to pay 30m+ to get an English CB. 00s was the Golden Generation of English football. If you look now, where are the Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, Gerrard, Scholes, and Rooney? English football is at a low point. We already have a strong core in Hazard, Matic, Courtois, Costa, Cesc, and Azpi. That's the new core. We can get English players tat are valued at their true valuation rather than over-paying to get an English core. Barca in 2006 had 2 Spanish outfield players start their UCL final. Madrid in 2014 also had 2. Barca again in 2015 had 3. This idea that we have to have an English core is out-dated. Players move around Europe at a young age now.
  16. They think they are buying Terry 2.0. That's the problem. Not every good, young Spanish defender is the next Puyol. Not every good, young Italian defender is the next Maldini. This idea that we are going to replace Terry with another English player, who will simply carry on the tradition, is just stupid. There isn't going to be another Terry at the club. Nothing about John Stones says he'll be anything like a John Terry type of player. They are willing to pay 18m extra for the idea that Stones will bring with him the intangibles Terry possess. Rubbish. The next Chelsea leader will be in a different mold. We've evolved as a club from the time Terry came through. There are plenty of players already at the club that embody the new Chelsea. We don't need to have an English CB leading the team to be Chelsea. Once they remove this idea from their heads, John Stones becomes just another young prospect. We paid 12 million for Zouma. Now, we are suddenly willing to pay 30m+ for Stones. Ridiculous.
  17. Liverpool agree for Benteke, via BBC. damn. Liverpool have outspent us the past two summer windows. lol. Jose, pull one out the bag, man. Get us Reus!
  18. doesn't have ambition? this guy? cheers!
  19. You mean the Ibrahimovic who played at Inter, at Barca, at Milan? You mean one of the top 3 most famous footballers in the world? If that is your idea of a failed footballer, you need help. Raiola gets a move for his client whenever they want, to wherever they want. He's top notch. He's bad for football? No, he's bad for football clubs. His players do just fine.
  20. What? Raiola is one of the best agents around. He's going make Pogba filthy rich.
  21. Maybe Zouma wouldn't have made a backheel assist for Ivanovic's goal, or for that matter, actually score a goal. of all the people to single out, you are going to pick on a player that was involved in 2 of our 3 goals in that tie? wow. How about blaming Jose for starting Ramires at home? and then taking off Oscar when he got a yellow instead of leaving him out there because without Oscar we can't keep possession, a fact known to everyone. Cahill hate is just silly now. He has one dip on form and people want him gone. He recovers from that dip in form and performs well to end the season and still the hate.
  22. I didn't say this year. We have no issues meeting the home grown quota this year. I'm talking about phasing it out. As in, when Terry leaves, bring in proper Euorpean CB and then a squad player to take the HG spot. Do this whenever a world class HG leaves. Paying for 20 year old English players is bad business. Arsenal payed more for Calum Chambers than we did for Luis. That's just insane.
  23. we didn't lose to PSG because of anything to do with Cahill. We lost to PSG because we couldn't retain possession, were afraid to attack and lose our away goal advantage. It's on Jose.
