Much better second half. Southampton couldn't do shit. And we were plain unlucky. No need to perform like this in every other game. Cesc turned it around in second half, but still lacking the killer ball
-
Costa's technical limitation is a massive liability. Giving away the ball easily leading to dangerous counters and that's what led to the goal
-
When will Mou realize that all attacks are via Ivanovic's side. Move Azpi to the right and get Luis in
-
I don't see why Fabregas cannot perform in big games. He made huge assists and played great in the biggest games of all - WC and Euro finals and semi finals. But he can't contribute anything if our strategy is to hoof the ball and hope for the best. A build up play from back is required to get the best out of him. Someone who was that good of a form cannot change overnight

If I track back to where Chelsea's decline started this season, it is the 5-3 loss to Spurs. That's where he lost confidence on the Cesc-Matic pivot and attacking football. Now he is just throwing a bunch of formation, with the basic idea of sitting back deep. The question is whether he will go back to the Cesc Matic combo again and play the way we played in the first 3/4 months
-
I really feel bad for Cesc. He is really not the type of player that would fit a "park the bus" approach. He is too slow to run around and all is energy is wasted in chasing the ball. He plays his best when we are attacking, look the league cup final. Jose needs to grow a pair and play him in the CM position next to Matic with an attacking approach or simply drop him if he is going to sit back and defend

Costa is a liability right now. His biggest asset is scoring and if he can't score, he adds nothing. In fact he can be detrimental to the team. There were countless times today when he ended a promising counter attack by mis placing a simple pass. He can never win a 1v1 Ariel duet. He cannot protect the ball in possession. These are all serious issues due to Mou's tactic. When you are parking the bus and then hoofing it, it does require strong hold up play from your striker
-
Few things to note - 1. No point in playing Fabregas if we are going to park the bus. He is a passenger 2. Even Burnley and Bradford is able to press against us successfully. PSG would absolutely do it 3. Why don't we ever try to play like we did in the first few months ? Attacking and always trying to score
-
Just terrible from Mou
-
Costa is a liability
-
This bus parking doesn't work
-
Can't believe this shit. Every game same result
-
Are you mistaking Oscar for Cesc ? Don't remember misplaced passes in the final third
-
Totally agree. But they are kind of being encouraged by poor referring. If Matic had laid on the ground like a headless chicken, he wouldn't be seeing the red
-
Overall, decent performance. Just missing the final pass.
-
How does Luiz not have a card yet ?
-
PSG just fouls a lot. They got away with it in the first leg, not anymore
-
I don't understand why Ivanovic continues to play as a defender. In every game the right side ends up being the biggest vulnerability. I feel like he has the right skills to play at Willian's position. Good ball control, great crosses, can score, and provide assists. Wonder why Mou never plays him there with Azpi and Louis as fullbacks.
-
Good win, but don't know why every team, whether Bradford or City is able to pin us back and launch wave after wave of attacks every game in the last 30 mins. Is that Mou's instruction to just sit back and absorb it ?
-
Umm, what game where you watching ? Assist bicycle kick, great ball distribution. Chelsea is not meant to play like Barcelona. So your point makes no sense
-
I think City has a real chance now with 11 men in the second leg. Barca's defense looks suspect and if Toure is back, it will be competitive
-
Barcelona's defense looks massively suspect
-
Guys just two examples of big games where he performed - World Cup Final and Euro Final. I guess games don't get any better than those
-
I think Cesc would be ok going forward. I saw glimpses of his self today. He saw a lot of the ball and was passing around ok. That's why we had 70% possession numbers. I think he is struggling with the final ball. The big difference I see between 2014 and 2015 is that he is not going far forward. Probably because of the Tottenham and Liverpool games he is concerned that we will get caught up in a counter attack. Earlier in the season we were playing worry free, confident that Matic, Cahill, and Terry would do the job. But the Spurs game feels like a turning point this season
-
I am wondering if Luis can play a Matic type role in the pivot. Pretty good defensively, good going forward, similar built, and Borge left footed. Not sure if Jose will take that chance
