  1. Age is nothing but a number. There are some young players in world football like Hazard, Koke, Pogba, Courtois and Varane that are already some of the best players in their position Their game and skill-set is very well-rounded and they play at a high level, week in week out. They play like they are in their primes already. A few rough edges? yes. Can still get better Absolutely. But as good as anyone in their position. This is what is most important and this is what seperates these players from the Neymar's, Gotze's and Lukaku's, who although talented still have a fairly under-developed skill-set.
  2. Why are you comparing a winger to a central midfielder? A player who plays for Juve in the Serie A to a player who plays for Twente in the mediocre Dutch league? And why do you think stats prove anything at all? Is Tadic also better than Iniesta as well? Yes it is. But we should be shopping at Waitrose not Tesco to fill such an important position. Especially with the money at our disposal. And especially considering the power of the Man City squad we are competing with.
  3. Has he been any more or less inconsistent than Vidal, who has had many poor performances this season? Pogba, like Varane ^^^^^^^^^^^ as someone said above, is a young player who is a very consistent performer. That's one of the things he gets praised for, his consistency. Hardly has any bad games. If we're going to nitpick one or two games where a player doesn't play well then anyone can be made to look "inconsistent". i.e Vidal. This is key. If Pogba is not playing well, it lasts for a certain stretch of games, because of poor form or whatever. Then he picks back up. Inconsistent players have one good game and one bad game and so on. It alternates. Most top players go through the former not the latter. The inconsistent thing has become an unfair tag thrown at young players nowadays, including, initially Hazard, which bordered on the ridiculous, considering it was his first season in England. As for pressure, believe me, Pogba can handle it. A player so young who is the midfield controller for the biggest team in Italy is no joke. A player who is expected to be the midfield lynchpin for France in this up-coming world cup is no joke. Personally, I think he's amazing and fantastically consistent as someone his age shouldn't be.
  4. This is exactly what Pogba does, combined with physical power unlike light-weights like Kroos. I'm not sure which Pogba you're talking about. I'll be willing to pay 40 million for him. Even 50 million.
  5. I disagree with this. I watch Juventus a LOT and Pogba is a player who has been incredibly consistent in his time there. He did go through a rough patch this season but inconsistency and Pogba are not words that should be in the same sentence. By the same token, Vidal is pretty inconsistent because he's had more mediocre than Pogba this season.
  6. No they are not in any immediate financial trouble (very low debt) and of course they can afford to turn that down. It was rumoured they turned down an even bigger bid for Pogba by PSG in the past. I'm not sure how true this so-called bid is though. On twitter, very few sources reporting it.
  7. No chance Juve will sell for less than 50-55 million. We can only hope though. At least, what this means is that our board has recognized Ramires as a serious weakness in this side. I hope we also launch a bid for Koke as well for around the same price to sample both waters simultaneously.
  8. We've already had our transition with the influx of young, talented players in the last 2 years. It has ended. The next signings complete the side.
  9. There's a good chance he won't get off the bench.
  10. Ha! You didn't even acknowledge the existence of Ramires. Our board must do everything with their power to spare us the ignominy of watching Ramires in that pivot pretending to be a footballer.
  11. Honestly, the only way I will contemplate going for Shaw for this price is if we sign a Pogba or Koke first. Now that we have the Diego Costa deal under wraps, the next outlay has to be in that central midfield. There's a reason why fullbacks don't set transfer fee records. (3) I agree 100% with the sentiment and which is why we have to make sure we groom the likes of Baker, Swift, Loftus Cheek, Solanke and so on properly. We have the best collection of English talent in the league. Far more talented than Southampton's. What's the main diff between ours and theirs? It's that they actually use it. Instead of spending extortionate money on other club's English talent, we should trust and use ours. It will hurt me seeing Shaw wearing the red of Man United if they do sign him, he's a Chelsea boy. Was a SB regular when he was a kid. But for the sums being banded about. So be it. UNLESS, we do the deals for a top class CM first and have spare cash to waste.
  12. (1) Nobody is against him, just against the ridiculous transfer fee and no Rodriguez will not be anywhere near the same price and yes, Moreno is arguably as good. I've also seen Bernat play a bit for Valencia and he impresses me more than Shaw. (2) Southampton want 30 million for him. They can fuck off for all I care. No one will want him for that amount and his value is very unlikely to increase anytime soon. (3) We also shouldn't buy players for their nationality, but for their qualities. At 19, everybody was praising Micah Richards as the 2nd coming of Baresi, where is he now?
  13. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2070781-scouting-report-grading-chelsea-defender-kurt-zoumas-season-at-saint-etienne Interesting article on him and another reason why we shouldn't be looking to loan out Kalas. Kalas is ahead of Zouma in his development right now and I'm not convinced Iva, JT or Cahill is enough for an entire season and I'm not convinced being a reserve player is good for Zouma's development..
  14. It will be beyond idiotic if we went out an wasted money on a ridiculously overhyped (not overrated but very hyped) 18 year old kid, when we can buy an equally as good or better young LB for much cheaper. Rodriguez at Wolfsburg, Moreno at Sevilla, Bernat at Valencia. These are all fantastic young LB's who won't cost more than 20 million pounds. Just consider this: The same PSG who just payed an insane amount of cash for David Luiz payed about 15 milion euros (about 9 million pounds!) for Lucas Digne, the best LB prospect from France and a player we were also after. So, there is a difference in evaluation of over 25 million pounds between the best LB prospects in France and England, lol. Pardon my German, but why the fuck should Chelsea pay in excess of 20 + million pounds for bloody Luke Shaw? Southampton are delusional for rejecting United's bid of 27 million pounds (about 35 million euros) for Shaw. If we are so worried about CL quota's then promote the youth. Our best players from our youth teams are English anyway. Bring back Chalobah, promote Baker, Swift, and so on. Also if we are really worried about home-grown players, then why let Ashley go? I hope we back off from the Shaw deal until Southampton see sense. Man united have already done so anyway, now that they've renewed Evra's contract. It makes no sense for us right now.
  15. And when most of us are done celebrating this great piece of business, I hope we can thank the lad for his services to the football club. A great footballer and by all evidence, a great human being, but never a starting CB in this team and in this league. I'll miss him.
  16. The money is useless if we don't spend it. We have no other excuses than to spend BIG now. It's a bonus that the Costa deal is already done. Hate to keep on repeating it, but a world class, top quality CM MUST be the priority now. Then a LB. Of course, the LB doesn't have to be world class, but can be one with huge potential (Moreno, Rodriguez or Bernat). At least the board knows what we need : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/10852796/Chelsea-want-to-sign-either-Paul-Pogba-Koke-or-Paulinho-after-agreeing-48m-deal-for-David-Luiz.html Imagine if we sign a Pogba and our new spine is Cech/Courtois, Cahill and Terry, Matic and Pogba, Hazard with Costa leading the line! Make us dream, Chelsea!
  17. Thanks for the cash lads! More money than sense. Don't fuck it up Roman, Emenalo and co!
  18. I'll rather have dull, boring but world class CB , Cahill than entertaining, eccentric mediocre CB , David Luiz.

  20. http://www.psg.fr/en/News/003001/Article/67108/Accord-avec-Chelsea-FC-et-David-Luiz OFFICIAL!!!!!!! IT'S DONE!!!!!
  21. Yeah, the half-life of that squad expired after that season. We tried to bring in some players but our 2011 transfer window has to go down as one of the worst in recent times. 75 million pounds for Torres and Luiz + letting Matic go (though it's benefited us now) while clubs like City were signing Sergio Aguero and Liverpool signing Suarez. Shows how important the transfer window is to determining a team's success. Carlo, Roman and the board especially also deserved some blame for those blunders. And then Carlo paid with his job.
