  1. Or perhaps the curse is on the person who chooses the strikers. That curse being that they are not brilliant at spotting the difference between a striker with qualities and a striker of quality. Anyway, more positively, it is definitely too soon to regard ROM as a bust so hope survives.
  2. It was obvious that there must be a reason why he was where he was at that stage of his career. Some of us made this point while his transfer was being discussed. There are some truths that those responsible for Chelsea's player recruitment must learn if they don't already know them and which they must not ignore if they do: - Never buy on form. If a player's touch is poor when he's 18 it will be poor when he's 28. Ignore anyone who tells you otherwise. They are either not old enough or not observant enough to know better. If an outfield player in the prime of his career is playing at a lower level than it looks like he should be aware that there is a reason why he's where he is. A good reason. Chelsea should never pay elite level transfer fees because established elite players never choose Chelsea. We have no choice but to try to find the elite players before they have established themselves.
  3. As I've put it, his absence has shown the position we're in. He is the player we can't live without and, when he plays, we can't help but feel that we need more from him. Can't live without him, can't quite live with him.
  4. I don't agree and, self-evidently, you don't either.🙂
  5. Media was talking a lot of nonsense about us, not just about Rom. Now they'll start talking a different brand of nonsense.
  6. Marcos is the same as he ever was. He is what he is. He is NOT the problem. The problem is the £50m transfer fee spent to recruit an upgrade. Clearly, as far as TT is concerned, that upgrade attempt failed. I now expect to see Marcos continue to start but eventually TT will turn to Chilly. Some time after that he will be forced to accept that there was a reason he was preferring Marcos and the cycle will continue.
  7. Being vaccinated reduces your likelihood of contracting the virus and increases your chances of surviving it if you do. Put it another way; looking to your right, left and right again before crossing a road does not guarantee you wont get hit by a car but it helps. Each of us was taught that behaviour by our parents and either have taught, or will teach, it to our own kids. We do that because it's a blindingly obvious precaution.
  8. You've read what I had to say. Others have probably done the same. This was my wish and my intention. You have done what I hoped you would do. What anyone does beyond that is for them to decide. I have great respect for the people in this forum and their opinions are of interest to me. This is not true in your case.
  9. It was a good, fun, trip. As the fan's coach was pulling out of the motorway services on the way back, the player's coach was just pulling in. Despite cries of, "Go back!" The driver headed on to London. Poor bloke probably just wanted to get home.
  10. Didn't watch so can't comment but generally speaking sportsmanship is better in the woman's game both on and off the pitch. P.S. I ask everyone to join me in boycotting international football during international breaks. Don't buy match tickets, don't watch on TV, don't listen on radio, don't follow online, don't discuss on social media. The vast majority of us hate international breaks so let's stop whining about them and try to do something instead. If football fans refuse to engage with international breaks they would die and the regular interruption of the club season would stop. This then allows the club season to be completed in a shorter span of time meaning it can start later and finish sooner. That leaves time for an international season during which all international football can be played. The same amount of time is dedicated to the international game but all at once rather than scattered throughout the year. In fact it would get more time since an international season reduces the number of days currently 'wasted' while squads gather and breakup several times a season.
  11. I agree that this is a reason for suspicion as is the reported fact that Atleti were so desperate to include an obligation to buy in the deal.
  12. It didn't seem that way to me, especially in the first half. He was struggling to get in the game and gave away a couple of unnecessary free kicks because he wanted to be seen to be trying to get stuck in. If he is to get acclimatised at all it seems likely to take a good few more games. Another big reason to be pleased that we went through last night and earned extra potential minutes for Saul.
  13. Bar one unforced poor touch Sarr looked very tidy until someone actually challenged him. When he was pressured however the frailties were on show. Some of that can be cured I think. He seems to me to be one of those players who feels he looks good because he takes his time rather than being good because his technique and calm speed of thought makes it look like he has time. The difference between those can be learned if a player has enough self awareness. Whether doing this would help Malang make it has to be in doubt in however.
  14. I was glad he stayed on and the same with Saul who could easily have been subbed at halftime again. If there is to be improvement from either of them time on the pitch has to be part of the medicine.
  15. I haven't watched them at all but on paper they look scary of course. If it isn't working then Poch and Leonardo have questions to answer.
  16. Bound to play tomorrow night so let's hope his performance wins TT's confidence.
  17. Bettinelli Chalobah Chris Sarr James RLC Saul Chilwell Ziyech Werner CHO Cavalry on the bench if required.
  18. 🙂 I also said no chance we'd win the CL in 2012. Then I said there was no chance we'd win the CL in 2021. I'm not always wrong however. In November 2009 I said there was no chance we would win a thing that season. Well we didn't win 'a' thing, we won two things. It's a kind of genius I have so, no, there's no chance we'll break the Premier League goals conceded record!😉 Of course I didn't really have any universe altering reverse manipulation of the fates in mind when I said those things. I said them because I meant them and I still believe we have no chance of beating that record. It's an incredible one.
