  1. I came here to say this. We were not much short of a shambles for the last 30-35 minutes. On Lamps. A lucky point in the end.
  2. Valencia dominated the second half and run out deserved 2-1 winners. The defeat eliminates our U19s from this season's eufa Youth League. The lads did what they could but there isn't the same quality in this group as in previous generations that tackled this competition with a swagger.
  3. 1-1 in the U19s game away to Valencia now. Henry Lawrence's goal makes the score line a better reflection of the play. We've been the better side so far.
  4. And now a keeping error from Carlo Ziger has gifted Valencia a goal and given our lads a big task to tackle.
  5. The 19s are also in Valencia for a match in their version of the Champions League. We lie third in the table currently so this is a must win fixture. The game is ten minutes old and we've already had a golden chance to go ahead but Billy Gilmour had his early spot kick saved. It wasn't a great effort in all honesty.
  6. Reaction to the Blues win at Birmingham: - https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/11/26/women-s-reaction--two-happy-blues?fbclid=IwAR3ztuuAm12Rmf3t4PmYQZbnOMEdYkU9EsRrZ6fkT2whFvdiGB6D7bHCFts Next home game for the women is the top of the table clash with Man City at Kingsmeadow on Sunday 8th December. The game is nearly sold out so only a few tickets are still available: - https://www.chelseafc.com/en/tickets---membership/buy-tickets?team=women&pageTab=GENERAL ADMISSION
  7. That's probably a part of it but if flattery is to have any hope of being effective it has to be believable, and Jose is telling the truth. For 'only' 36,000 they always made a heck of a noise at Three Point Lane. A much better atmosphere than at The Bridge for example. As for their new stadium, I am deeply, deeply envious.
  8. It really is time for this myth about Marina's responsibilities to end. There is no evidence whatsoever that she makes any football decisions. Bruce Buck, speaking recently: - "In terms of being involved, in looking at new players, talking about whether to extend players' contracts... [Mr. Abromovich] was always intimately involved in that from day one and is just as intimately involved now."
  9. I missed the Spurs game on Wednesday because I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the Chelsea Foundation anti-semitism event at The Imperial War Museum that night. I was at the game in Solihul yesterday however, when the Blues hit Birmingham for six. Highlights: -
  10. Agreed, if it was true, but it isn't. The gun was never pointed at us. Obvious case of an agent doing his or her work. Not a snowball in hell's chance that we're in for this bloke.
  11. Big Pete's role does seem to be pretty loosely defined but I've never had the vibe that it involves identifying transfer targets. I hope the club is building a 'boot room' type knowledge group that it draws upon but we'll see. For now it's just guesswork what Pete gets up to beyond the publicly announced liaison role. If anything.
  12. No Chelsea men's game this weekend but the women are hosting ManU in a big game at Kingsmeadow (near Kingston) on Sunday. A few standing tickets left. All seats have been sold. United have impressed me a lot so far. Their manager is the outstanding Casey Stoney and they've got some exciting players, including Reece's sister Lauren James. She's been getting rave reviews in her WSL debut season. Should be a heck of a game. If you haven't taken in a women's game yet, now's your chance. 13. But for a missed pen in the away leg at Lyon, we may well have won it last season. We gave the five time European Champions absolutely everything they could handle. That's not me talking either, that's what Lyon fans were telling us in the bar after the second leg.
  14. Hodgson's no fool. As I said at the time, he sold a fullback for a monster fee, then tried to buy a better one for less than half the price. He must have known deep down that he was never going to get Reece, but credit to him for trying.
  15. Sam's first Chelsea interview: - https://www.instagram.com/chelseafcw/tv/B4zFoP6i0qL/caption/in-sam-kerrs-first-interview-as-a-blue-she-talks
  16. Superstar striker Sam Kerr, joins Chelsea Women. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/11/13/sam-kerr-signs-for-chelsea-fc-women?fbclid=IwAR2dNyxwRtvETch3sjM1Bxa-qBjYOY5Phy2AUVlsDuLFxgMGl0JC_ZlDheU
  17. Why do you hate him? He only ever did his best for Chelsea. What more could he do? If he was not a sufficiently good player in your book that's hardly his fault. After all, Gaz didn't pick the team. I was on my feet saluting him yesterday and I'm delighted that this was pretty unanimous around the stadium.
  18. Matt Miazga, so good they sold him twice!
  19. I'm always persuaded by this type of observation. It speaks loudly.
  20. I recommend my attitude to international breaks. I don't buy tickets to internationals, I don't watch them on TV, I don't follow them in any way. If everyone did that for a season, we'd be rid of these blasted breaks, instead of just going along with them the way fifa expect us to. Ditch the breaks, use the time saved to shorten the club season so it starts later, and finishes earlier. That makes room in the calendar for an international season. The weather's good, the fan parks open, the flags come out and we can all enjoy getting behind England, or our various national sides. That's the way to do it.
  21. Suggesting that he signed a four year extension in summer 2018. I'd be stunned if a new deal is not being worked on right now. One of those nice seven year jobs would be just the ticket.
  22. He put a bit more beef behind the second last night which is good to see. Not because I think there's anything wrong with his 'usual' style, but because extra variety keeps the keepers guessing.
